Elara's Point of View
I didn't know why I was so nervous while Mr. Black was driving. Well, I did know. I had feelings for him that I knew I shouldn't have. It was weird. I understood being attracted to him but I knew this was more than an attraction. I felt like I was supposed to be by his side. Like, we were supposed to be together. I had to be going crazy.
"What are you thinking about?" Mr. Black asked from the driver's side. I looked up to see we were parked at a diner called The Eclipse Diner.
"Um, nothing important," I replied. He looked at me for a moment before nodding
"Okay, we are here," Mr. Black said. We got out of the car and made our way into the Diner. There were two customers inside. When they saw Mr. Black they stopped talking. We took a seat at a booth, and a moment later the two customers went to the cashier to pay their bill and left. I wondered if they left because of Mr. Black but I brushed that thought aside.
"Hello, Sir. What can I get for you," I woman that looked to be in her forties asked
"What would you like?" Mr. Black asked
"A double cheeseburger and fries," I said
"I will take that too and a coke. What would you like to drink?" The lady asked
"Um, a sprite, please," I replied
"Coming right up," the lady said, and she left.
"So, I thought we should talk about everything. First, I wanted to clear things up with you about the Chloe situation."
"No, there is no reason for that. I am sorry. I didn't have the right to act the way I did about that earlier. It is none of my business who you mess with," I said. I felt a bad taste in my mouth as those words let my lips. Mr. Black just looked at me for a moment as if he was deep in thought
"What?" I asked
"Nothing. I just wanted to let you know that there is nothing going on with Chloe and me. We had a little fling in the past but that was a huge mistake and nothing will happen between us again, ever," Mr. Black said as he stared deep into my eyes. It seemed like it was important to him that I knew that information.
"Um, okay. Like I said that is none of my business," I replied. We just stared at eachother for a moment.
"Yeah, anyway, I wanted to discuss with you about your sister's schooling."
"Thanks for helping me with that. I don't know what would have happened if you didn't show up. How did you know I was there anyway?" I asked
"I have my ways," Mr. Black replied
"That isn't answering my question," I replied
"I know. Anyway, I don't think your sister should go to that school anymore. There is a High School here that I think she should go to. It is closer to the house and she will get a good education there," Mr. Black said
"I would have to let the State know that I am switching her schools. I also have to send Mrs. Jenny my new address. She is going to have to come and inspect," I said
"There is no need for that," Mr. Black said, and then he put a document in front of me. I picked it up and started to read it. I gasped in shock as I read what it had to say.
"Is this what I think it is?" I asked
"I had my lawyer go talk to the State. You no longer have to worry about them taking Clara away from you. You have full custody of her now," Mr. Black said. I was so happy, and I couldn't help it when the tears left my eyes.
"I can't believe this. Thank you so much," I said, and I put my hand on his. Pleasurable sparks come through my hand, causing me to gasp in shock. I had a feeling Mr. Black could feel it to by the way he looked at me. We just stared at each other. It was like we were the only two people in the room.
"Your food is ready," The waitress said, causing me to take my hand off his and both of us to look at the waitress. She placed the drinks and food in front of us before leaving.
"After we enroll Clara into school tomorrow, I will take you to the State office so you can sign the custody document, and then after that, we can head to the office so we can go over what you need to do. I am sure you won't have a problem since you worked for Peter at the Lance Group," Mr. Black said as we arrived back at the house.
"Okay, Mr. Black, I can't thank you enough for what you have done for my sister and me," I said before getting out of the car
"It's nothing. Oh, and call me Kyle."
"Kyle," I replied with a smile, and he smiled back at me. For some reason, his name sounded good coming from my mouth.
"Well, I should go and tell Clara the good news. She is going to be so happy," I said
"Yeah," Kyle replied, and we got out of the car. When we walked together to the elevator, and once the elevator stopped, we walked to our rooms. "I will see you tomorrow, Elara," Kyle said once I was at my door.
"Good night," I replied, and I walked into the room.
"Good night," Kyle replied as I closed the door.
I took a deep breath as I leaned on the front door. There was no denying it. I was falling for Kyle Black. No, I had already fallen for him.
I made my way up the stairs and to Clara's room to see that she was already asleep. I decided to wait until the morning to tell her the good news.
