Kyle's Point of View
I had never seen a woman as beautiful as the one I was looking at at this moment. She had an amazing body. She was built like a Coca-Cola body. She had plump, large breasts. She was way shorter than me by more than a foot, but I liked that. It meant she would need my protection, and I automatically wanted to protect her. I could also tell that she was human. That meant she was weak.
"What did you call me?" She asked, and that took me out of my trance.
"Al... I mean, Mr. Kyle. Please forgive this woman. She came for an interview, but we found that she isn't qualified for the job due to her past," Chloe said, and then she looked at the young woman. "You can go now, Ms. Elara Gray."
"Elara," I whispered. Her name sounded good coming out of my mouth. I shook my head. I had to get myself together. I didn't want a Mate, and I needed to stay away from her. She needed to leave. It was a good thing that Chloe had decided to kick her out.
"Oh, really?" I asked
"Yes, she worked for Peter at Lance Group, and from what Peter told me, she tried to seduce him. You don't need someone here who would try to seduce their boss to get ahead," Chloe said. My wolf and I didn't like what Chloe was saying. She was basically trying to call my mate a slut. Deep down inside, I knew that wasn't the case. I could tell my mate was not that kind of woman. I wanted to tear Chloe apart, but I knew I had to control myself.
"Well, if that is the case, then you should leave. I don't want someone like you working," I said. Saying those things made me feel like s**t. My wolf was growling in my head, letting me know he was not happy. Even though I hated the way I was talking to her, I knew I had to stay strong. She needed to leave. She couldn't be here. Chloe had a smirk on her face, and I knew she was happy with my actions.
"Fine. I will leave, but before I go, I will let you know that I never did any of those things Peter said I did. He made a move on me, and when I turned him down, he fired me." I knew she was telling the truth. I could feel it. Peter was going to pay for what he did. Chloe walked toward Elara and started to speak.
"Oh, please. Peter would never mess with a woman like you. I can tell you are a w***e and a poor one at that." I wanted to rip Chloe's head off for speaking to my mate like that, but I stayed silent. Suddenly, Elara shocked me by smacking Chloe. What shocked me the most was how hard she hit her. She hit her so hard that Chloe's head moved to the side. She used enough force not only to make Chloe's head turn but also to leave a red mark. That was something a normal human wouldn't be able to do.
I looked over at Elara and was even more shocked when I saw her eyes were purple. Chloe and Mark were also shocked. I could tell by their facial expressions.
"You need to watch your mouth. I don't care how much money you have. I will not let you get away with talking to me like that. I am happy you didn't give me the job. I wouldn't want to work for some rich snobs like you," Elara said and then she walked away.
"What the hell? I am going to beat her ass," Chloe said, causing a growl to leave my mouth. That made Mark and Chloe look at me with shocked expressions on their faces.
"You will not touch her," I said
"But she hit me," Chloe said
"You deserved it for what you said to her," I said
"Yeah, you were rude, Chloe. Also, did you not see her eyes turn purple and she is strong. That only means one thing," Mark said
"She is the Awakener," I said
"Yeah, and she is also your mate, right?" Mark said, causing me to look at him.
"I heard what you said. You called her your mate," Mark said
"No, that can't be true. There is no way she is his..."
"Yes, she is my mate, but I don't want her," I said. Chloe was smiling while Mark had a frown on his face.
"You will become weak if you don't have your mate," Mark said
"No, I will become weak if I accept her as my mate," I said
"Great! Then you just need to reject her," Chloe said, causing me to growl
"I can't do that. At least not yet. My wolf wants her. I don't want to piss him off. Also, she is the awakener. We need her on our side," I said. The Awakener was a human who was born with extraordinary powers. Powers that can make a pack stronger than any other. They are only born once every hundred years. I can't let anyone else get a hold of her. If another pack got hold of her, they would become stronger than me. Not only that, if the wrong person gets their hands on her, they could use her to take over the world or destroy it.
"We need get on her good side. Offer her the job," I said. Chloe was now frowning, and Mark had a smirk on his face.
"What?" I asked Mark
"With all due respect, I don't think she is going to take this job after the way you treated her. Not unless you apologize." I couldn't even imagine apologizing to anyone. I had never done it before. I knew Mark was right, though. I said some cruel things to her. The only way to get on her good side was to apologize. I would do it. Not because she was my mate but because she was the Awakener and I needed her on my side.
