I just grabbed a soda while Matt took a beer, we stood there chatting when the music stopped, and Dylan took the mike in hand.
"Hello hello hello! let's get this party started. Everyone out to the backyard.
"he yelled over the microphone filled with excite "Come on." Matt said and took my hand in his.,
"Why is everyone going out?" I asked.
"The real party starts outside." he said.
I just shrugged my shoulders accepting the answer.
When we stepped outside, I was dumbstruck. There were cars and bikes all around with open hoods and music blazing, engines roaring and beat moving. This was a racing hood. This really isn't a normal party. OMG. This was awesome.
I so wanted to race but know I can't, this track looks perfect, especially for a drift race the curves the cuts are to ride for.
1. I'm not staying here longer than a year I can't let anyone find out I can race neither will I race. I can get in deep s**t and my mum doesn't know about my racing yet it's something I do for my father, my mum hated it when my father did it. And I know I can't let her know about it. No Matter how much I despise her I can't let her know about it and I still love her.
2. I don't even have a ride or my friends here.
"This is a race pit.” I exclaimed to Matt.
He chuckled and nodded "yes, this is. This Is kind of a qualification for a racing competition. Every year we have this competition, where racers of all sizes and walks come to race.
"Really!" I said not knowing about such competition here, we have a similar thing back home it's normally starts in winter. The cold makes it more interesting.
He took me to where Nate, Cameron, Dylan stood .
"Hey, so now you know what's special about this party." Nate asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, I do." I replied.
A guy came with a phone in hand. "I tried calling him; he's not responding." he said.
"s**t!" Muttered Cameron.
"Keep trying, you know we need him." Nate replied.
"He's still not here?" Matt asked.
"Oh he is, he's just in my pocket." replied Cameron.
"No need to be sassy, it's just a question." Replied Matt.
"Who's not here?" I asked wanting to be filled in.
"Our fourth racer." Dylan replied." You guy's race in groups?" I asked, yes he replied.
"Well well well look who's here." a voice spoke sneaking beside me.
"What do you want Tristan?" Dylan Asked.
"Come on, I'm just here to wish your racers luck and I heard one of your racers is missing that's sad, seems that you guys won't be able to qualify." He said smugly.
"It's none of your business, you should be worried about your racers First." Cameron replied with a clenched jaw.
"And who are you?" he asked turning to me.
"Your worst nightmare." I replied.
"Oh you will be in my dreams alright!" he said.
"Just leave and get on with your life." Cameron came to my rescue.
"Hey no need to be rude, we all know none of the other racers, here can qualify." he added.
"Just bugger off." Nate said.
"I know Matt can't race or any other of your friends, my girlfriend races better than them." he added chuckling.
"It's not your problem, leave!" Nate exclaimed. Tristan raised his hands in surrender chuckling and left.
"Ugggh...keep trying we have to qualify, you to know that." Nate said passing his hand through his hair.
"Trey's brother picked the phone, he was in an accident broke his hand. He wouldn't be able to race even if he was here." The guy on the phone said.
"Damn." Cameron said and punched the hood of the car he was leaning on.
"Look we need to think straight, we just need to find a racer so that we can qualify. Hopefully by the actual race, Trey will be fine." Nate said calmly.
Matt's friend Steve came with another guy.
"Hey this is Stan, he's my cousin. He's from out of town, he can race." Steve said and introduced to a guy, he had raven hair and a bad-boy attitude, it seemed like I have seen him somewhere before but couldn't pin point. The boys had their greeting with man hugs and all.
I was introduced last, "Have I met you before?" he asked.
"This is no time to hit on a girl, you can do that later. First we need to get you you geared up for the race." Cameron said interrupting him.
"I'm not hitting in her; I really have seen her, before." he said, his eyes lit up in recognition.
"Of course, you're Red; the devil." he said grinning like he's just won the lottery.
"I really am impressed I'm a huge fan, I came to one of your races last month, the way you won over Blaze was awesome." he added.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Nate said.
"Oh you guys don't know. This Is golden. Is this why you guys wanted me to race with you?" he said chuckling.
"This here." he said pointing towards me. "Is Red also known as the devil, she's one of the best racers you can find, you should let her race instead of me; it's a guaranteed win I watched her race." he said bringing all the boys attention to me.
I cursed under my breath. I didn't want them finding about it.
"You race?" Matt was the first one to speak.
"Do you?" Nate asked.
"Ummm....yes." I replied.
"You're in!" Dylan said.
"She's not racing." Cameron said. "I'm not racing " I said agreeing with him. "She can and you are." Nate said, He grabbed my hand and took me in front of a bike. "You think you can ride this?" he asked, it was a Suzuki R gx8.
"Yes. But I'm not racing." I replied.
"Look, we really need you, if you're half as good as Stan said you are we'll be able to qualify. If you don't want anyone to know I'll make sure no one does, but we really need you to." he said.
"Fine but no one can know, especially my mum." I replied.
"Deal." he said and hand me the keys.
"The race consists of four stages, sixteen riders. Through each stage five riders who win will qualify. Each group have two representatives by the end the top three groups will qualify." he explained. He further explained the track and we stood at the starting line.
Nate and Dylan went through the first round Nate won first as well and Dylan won too he was a good racer. I'll have to admit, then Cameron and Dylan went. Cameron came first but Dylan didn't make it, then the third-round Cameron and Nate won it was very close but Nate won.
I heard Dylan say to Cameron. "Look even if she doesn't win you we have qualified, what are you worried about? you just need to show you have a fourth person." I didn't listen to his reply and got into position.
The next race I was supposed to participate in. Cameron is to race with me from our group. I picked up my helmet and strapped it on my head, swung my legs around the bike. I turned the engine on and turned the handle. I was ready. I was determined. I had to prove myself and this is what I live for.
