“Truth or dare” Ella asked looking at Kayla.
“Truth”
“I’ll go grab a glass of water” I spoke, standing up and walking over to the kitchen as the game kept on playing.
Somethings like this make me wonder if what our family does is wrong or not.. I mean I obviously know that what we do and did in the past is illegal and all that, but most of their lives they have been driving the weapons and drugs out of the country. They have helped so many people along the way, I remember asking mom once how they got to know Klaus and she explained how they all met. She became family with people in need, they always had each other’s backs. How bad can it actually be?
But then again, we got to hear Ella’s story. Her parents got killed in a failed home robbery, and their house was the wrong target to begin with. It shouldn’t even have been them who were found dead that day. No one should have been found dead that day, but a mistake happened, and her life changed forever.
“You are wasting water” I heard a little voice making me turn around.
“Aren’t you supposed to be asleep little one?”
“Yes, but you are still wasting water” I looked at the sink and she was absolutely right, I just had the tab open and running without using a drop of the water.
“You are right, I am tired” I explained myself to this little girl before shutting the water off.
“Then shouldn’t you be the one who’s asleep?” she asked, crossing her arms on top of each other. I could not help but chuckle. It was like a mini Ella standing in the doorway.
“Ella is right” she added.
“About what?” I asked.
“Ella said that you have a cute smile!”
“She did?”
“Mhm..”
“Well what else did she say?”
“Well- she said that I shouldn’t tell you about-“
“Liz? What are you doing up so late?”
“Kayla? What are you doing up so late?” Liz replied back with an attitude making both me and Kayla c***k up.
“She truly takes up after her sister huh?”
“Tell me about it”
“What are you guys doing here?” Said Ella as she stood at the doorway too.
“Did the party move here?” Andrea said following her.
“Keven I will kick you in the ass-“ Haiden started threatening Keven before he saw that Liz was here.
“In the astonishing hair of yours!”
“ass what?!” Liz asked confused.
“Oh no no, we don’t say that word. We say astonishing” Haiden explained, kneeling down to talk to her.
“Astoninng” she tried saying.
“Oh no no.. ass”
“ass”
“ton”
“ton”
“ish”
“ish”
“ing”
“ing”
“Good job! Now try it out”
“Astoninng!” She yelled excited.
“Oh god” Haiden sighed.
The whole night was filled with laughter and stupid jokes about nothing and everything. At one point we even switched up to deep questions were we all answered as honestly yet as secretively as possible. Well up until Keven got too comfortable and forgot himself.
“Alright, hardest thing you ever had to do?” Ella said, reading the question from her phone.
“Shooting someone” Keven rolled his eyes, sighing.
You f*****g dumbass..
“What…?”
“What did he say?” Kayla said, opening her eyes widely that were closed shut a few seconds ago.
“I’m sorry what?” Andrea spit out his water.
“What? Why are y’all acting like that?” Keven asked.
“I think Keven here needs some sleep, isn’t that right?”
“What no? Guys, remember when-“
“KEV!” Haiden yelled making him shut up.
“But-“
“KEVEN”
“THE DEAR”
“WHAT?”
“THE HUNTING TRIP? We had to shoot the dear? That was tragic!”
“Oh..”
“Oh yeah.”
“That’s what you meant”
“What else would he mean? What are y’all otherwise? Mafia members” Ella laughed as I quickly tried to force a laugh too.
Fuck.. this is getting too close. Soon the whole group were laughing with Haiden’s laugh being the most outrageous.
“HA- mafia members? Hahahahah”
“Oh man, imagine” Kayla added.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. It was dad…?
I walked over to the bathroom and picked up.
“Is everything alright?”
“You want to work more and be a part of the business? Here’s your chance. I need you to drop something off. Be ready for a call soon, we still don’t know when, but it should be in three days max. When the time comes, I need you to drop everything and do it immediately”
“Alright, I got it. Don’t worry about it” Damn it felt good to be the one saying that for once.
