The day was considerably nice. The coffee shop wasn't crowded nor empty. The smell of coffee and drinks brewing was calming with the people around hushed whispering and laughing was a great combination. Thea stared out of the window as she sighed, recalling the night she talked with Mac. She missed a lot and that incident ruined her family. If accepting this deal meant she could fix her family's fortune then she is more than willing to do it. At first, she thought of declining this arrangement but Edward and Liam specifically told her that their boss is willing to give anything since they were running out of time to find a new candidate.
Liam observed Thea as they waited for Edward and Marcus. He assured Thea that this was a one-time arrangement and she would be off the hook after she meets with Marcus's mother. However, he has a bad feeling that something might go down or take the wrong turn but he kept it for himself. Well, he tends to be overprotective over Thea especially. Both of them huffed at the same time, that made both of them laugh.
"Where are Ed and your boss? It has been half an hour already" Thea grumbled.
Liam smiled awkwardly as he swiped his phone open and spam Edward with texts. He has been saying that they were on their way for the past 20 minutes. 'We're OTW, baby' again the same thing. It's like he is forwarding the same text again and again. He showed the text at Thea and again they slumped at their seat. Thea excused herself to the restroom for a while. As she was in the restroom, Edward and Marcus arrived. Liam waved at them as he motioned them to the seat.
"Where is she? " Marcus asked.
"She went to the bathroom. She'll be here in a bit. Why were you late?" Liam frowned at their tardiness.
Marcus glared at Edward while the latter only smiled sheepishly. Thea walked over to their table and sat beside Liam. She held to Liam's hand as she was already feeling the pressure. While Marcus scanned her from top to bottom. Edward waved for the waiter as he noticed the tension at the table. The waiter stood by Thea to take the order as he smiled fondly at her.
"I'll have a black coffee," Marcus said while Edward asked for a tea.
"And hot cocoa for you? " the waiter asked Thea. Thea just nodded at him, she laughed a bit since it was her third cup of cocoa.
"So let's get down to business." Marcus cleared his throat.
He reached down and pulled out a file from lap and placed it in front of Thea. She gaped at him. The file was as thick as her thesis. She glanced at Liam and Edward who were on their poker face mode.
"You'll find all the details about me here. Study them before our arrangement. Make sure to memorize them"
Thea popped a gum in her mouth and started to chew them. "Now according to my payment? "
"What do you want? " Marcus leaned on his chair.
" A deal with your company" Liam held Thea's hand tight under the table. Marcus tilted his head. "Please give the upcoming project to Collins Company."
"That's all?" Marcus hoped that she would ask for money.
"Liam will handle all the details and he will tell you about the company. That's all I need. I don't expect any money." Thea chewed her gum consistently.
"Would you spit it out? We are in the middle of the discussion and you are chewing on that thing? "
Thea shrugged and ignored him. Marcus glared at her and said, "Spit it out."
Edward interrupted them, "Well, Marcus will you look at the time. We should be moving. Since all have been settled." He dragged Marcus while eyed Liam. Marcus sighed and followed Edward to leave when Thea chases up to them and stood in front of Marcus.
"You should chew some of this too, your breath smells." she placed some gums on his palm and winked as she walked away to Liam's car.
Edward bit his lips to stop from laughing while Liam ran past them towards Thea. "I really hate her," Marcus grumbled.
"I really like her." Edward retorted as he skipped towards their car.
