Chapter eight - Officially welcome

Jordan's POV:

Our friends liked their wedding clothes and shoes. I'm happy about this. We tried to pick something simple and elegant for them. It sounds impossible, but it's not. I didn't take much time choosing the clothes. Let's say that I don't think much when we talk about this. I get dressed for work with the first thing I see in my wardrobe. Melanie was taking some time. Then she started doing the same as me. It saved her time for other things. Three months have left us for the wedding. I think it's time for her to go and choose a dress. If she wants some changes to the one she picks, it will take time for them to be made. I can help her, but she won't let me. This will be her moment. I will leave her to enjoy it. After all, I will see the dress when the time comes. Halloween is after a month. That's why we should know what to do with the coffee shops. The decoration and the coupons have been decided. The question is if we need something else. Maybe this is enough. We'll serve the drinks in special cups. Luckily, some stores sell them at affordable prices. I don't mind spending money, but I prefer saving. Melanie and I spent a lot on the wedding, and we still have more things to buy. In the end, all of this will be worth it. I can't wait to see her in the dress. I hope that nothing and no one will ruin our day.

Three months have left until I say yes. I might look calm, but I'm not. That is because we put so much effort into this. Melanie and I want people to see what we like. The wedding is angel-themed. This doesn't mean everything will be about angels. My girlfriend got the idea to make a photo booth where the ceremony will be. In the restaurant, there won't be much space for this. I like the idea because I want thousands of pictures that day. I don't care if I get bored. This will be the best day ever in my life.

Currently, I am in the coffee shop with Josh. He loves his new apartment. I don't know how Chelsea did, but I'll always be thankful for what she did. The rent is affordable. I asked if he needed more money, but the answer was no. There is a girl in the building. I think she got his eyes. I didn't ask anything about that. The boy said it by himself. Judging by the way he talks about her, she must be pretty. Well, she can't be compared with Melanie. I'm glad that he feels happy there.

- How is your apartment? I'm sure you like living alone. - I said

- It's good. Can I share something with you?

- Sure.

- My neighbor invited me for a late-night coffee.

- She did? That's good.

- Well, we skipped the coffee part. I don't drink that late.

- I wonder what happened.

- Nothing. We only talked. She told me some things about herself.

- I believe you did the same.

- Yes. I am proud of my job.

- You can invite her here. Hopefully, you won't mess up her order. - I said, chuckling

- That is likely to happen.

- I think it's time for you to invite her over.

- I don't want her to think I want something from her.

- But you do.

- No, I don't. I only like talking to her. It's so easy. It's like we have known each other our whole life. - he said, and I laughed

- Don't you think you are falling too quickly?

- I'm not falling.

- I will ask you the same after a month. You might be dating her.

- She is taken.

- Did she tell you?

- No, but I know it. A girl like her can't be single.

- Hi.

- A-Ashley?

- This is the shop you are working at, right?

- Yes. What can I do for you?

- I want your best drink.

- You want an angel wing shot.

- A what?

- It's a shot made out of different ingredients. It has a tiny bit of alcohol, but it's sweet.

- Ok, then. Can you make me one?

- My boss is taking care of this.

- No problem.

- You can make this one.

- But you always.

- I insist.

- Sure.

- The place looks nice. I like it.

- Thanks. Here you go.

- That thing is good.

- It will cost you five dollars.

- I will give you ten if you make me another one.

- Are you sure?

- Yes, I am.

There is no way this girl is single. I don't need to be a love doctor to see that these two are made for each other. Also, Josh already likes her. Ashley got four shots before she left. We put in a small amount of alcohol, but she drank four. For lunch, I went to buy food. Josh and I need to eat. I can close the shop and take him to a restaurant or diner, but we have many customers during that time. I can't miss it.

The rest of the afternoon, we kept working. Melanie texted me that she had taken the invitations. She gave two to Cassie and Mark. Then we should go to visit our parents and friends. We can invite them for dinner. One day, we'll be with our friends. Our parents can come to the next one. After work, I went home. Melanie was already there. She wanted to give Adrianna's invitation in person. We are here thanks to her.

- Are you ready?

- Yes, give me five minutes. - she said

- Take your time.

- We can go out for dinner later. Well, if you don't mind.

- Why would I? We don't need to eat at home all the time.

- I have cravings for junk food. - she said, chuckling

- It's not healthy, but I want it, too.

- Then it's decided. French friend and pizza.

- You know me so well.

- It's part of my duties.

- Do you want something? - I asked, and she came closer

- No, I don't.

- Then why are you looking at me like that?

- I want to see what you will do.

- Nothing. If you are ready, we can go.

- I wonder when you will have time for me.

- I always have time for you.

- Are you sure?

- Yes, I am.

- Great. Let's go.

- I'm so confused. - I said, and she laughed

- I know.

Both of us walked out. We like walking more than driving. Adriana's house is forty minutes from ours. This will be a good walk. We haven't seen her in a long time. I want to say that we were busy, but it's not a valid excuse. We used to go to see her often. Now, we focused on other things. Soon, we arrived, and Melanie knocked on the door.

- Melanie! Hello. It was about time for you to come. - Adriana said and hugged her

- I know. Can we come in?

- Jordan is here! Come in. I'm excited.

Adriana took her to her studio. It looks like she still tells people about their future. Mostly, she is guessing what will happen. Well, people still come to her.

- Now, I want an update on your lives. What is going on?

- Melanie, take the lead.

- Thanks. Both of us have two coffee shops.

- I have been there multiple times.

- You need to come again.

- We have a new drink. It's made for you. - I said

- Really? What is it?

- An angel wing shot.

- It sounds interesting. I believe Melanie chose the name.

- Yes, I did.

- I can't wait to try it.

- It's our most selling drink. - I said

- For sure, it is. Look who is making it.

- We came to give you something.

- You have a present for me?

- It's not exactly a present. This is for you. - Melanie said and took out the invitation

- I like the design. The angel wings are an exact copy of your tattoos.

- Almost.

- Hold on. You two are getting married! - she said with tears in her eyes

- Yes. You are officially welcome. Will you do it?

- Of course. How can I miss this? I'm so happy.

- Thanks. It means a lot.

- Come here. I want a big, tight hug.

- You are squeezing me.

- Adriana.

- I'm sorry.

- Why are you crying? - Melanie asked

- Because this is what I wanted since I saw you two. Do I need to dress in a specific way?

- No, you can wear whatever you want. - I said

- I'm getting excited.

- Keep this for the wedding.

- I can't wait for it to come.

We talked with Adriana. None of us expected her reaction to be so emotional. Well, we are happy that she agreed to come. Part of the fault for all this is hers. After some time, we went to eat. It was already 8 pm, but who cares? I won't miss my dinner. My last meal was at lunch. That was hours ago. Melanie and I went to the closest restaurant. She wanted pizza and French fries. I don't know if these go together. That's why I ordered the same. We'll share the fries.

- Her reaction was priceless. - Melanie said

- True. She is officially my friend. It's not like she hasn't been before.

- I think she is one of the most important guests.

- It's her fault that we are here. - I said, chuckling

- The best fault.

- Maybe we need to visit her more often. We stopped going to her house.

- That is because we focused on the coffee shops.

- This is our business.

- I know. What do you think about a third shop?

- What? Why do you want a third one?

- To expand the business.

- Who will work there? I won't leave it to strangers.

- I don't know. It was just a thought.

- I know you want an empire, but can we do things slowly? - Melanie asked, chuckling

- I don't want an empire.

- Yes, sure. We earned enough money, but we spent a lot on the wedding. Can you wait before you purchase something big?

- Of course. This won't happen now.

- Good.

- I'm sorry.

- For what? If you want, we can go and visit your old boss.

- You just gave me an idea.

- Oh, no.

- He can be the third shop.

- What do you mean?

- I can talk with him and convince him to join us as a third shop of our line.

- Are you sure that he will agree?

- I can try.

- Does he own the shop?

- I don't know.

- If he doesn't, then we'll have a problem. He can't do whatever he wants with the place.

- We can go and talk to him. You are amazing.

- Thanks. I guess. Can we do this after the wedding? We started doing too many things at once.

- Sure. We have all the time in the world for this.

- Thank you.

We stayed at the restaurant until 10 pm. Then we went home. This was a good walk. I ate a lot today. The food was delicious. I can cook, but it can't be compared to that. After all, I'm not a professional. I do simple things. Most of the time, Melanie is helping me. I don't know what I would've done without her. She is the reason why I am doing all these things. I started this business so I could share it with her. She is managing the coffee shop perfectly. I'm proud of what she is doing. We are making a great duo. The wedding will be perfect. I hope that it will go well.
