Chapter twelve - My dear friends

2058 Words
Jordan's POV: Get up, eat, go to work, come home, eat dinner, rest, and sleep. Melanie and I do this every single day. Maybe it's time for us to do something different. I have no idea what it will be. We got used to this routine. I'm not complaining about this. The thing is that we can't keep doing the same. Once in a while, we can go out or have fun at home. We can plan some activities at home. I'm sure it will be fun. All I will say is that we are focused on the coffee shops. It's not like something will happen to them. None of us can beat the rest of the coffee shops in town. Also, we don't want to do it. This is not the reason why we opened them. I wanted to have my business. Then I thought it would be nice to share it with my girlfriend. That's it. The story is not that interesting. That's why not everything has to be gardens and roses. I like what we do, but our friends might start to think that we are boring. We hang out with them, but it's not often. Most of the time, we come home tired. Melanie and I barely have time for ourselves. If you think that running a coffee shop is easy, think twice. It takes a lot of work to manage everything alone. At least Josh is helping me. I wouldn't be able to do this all alone. It's too much work. I hope that we'll stay in the business for a long time. I plan to go out with the boys today. They wanted us to spend a day together. It's not like I mind. I like being with Melanie, but I need my friends. They are a good company. Dylan mentioned something, but it wasn't confirmed. I hope that they haven't planned anything crazy. I only want us to talk. Well, we can do something else, too. Lately, I started appreciating the time I spend with people. I used to have fun a lot when I was younger. Now, I only want to sit and talk. This is probably why Melanie is with me. We are not that different. You have no idea how many times I have heard this. Melanie and I are at home. The boys said they would come to take me. I have a bad feeling about this. There is a plan. The question is if it will be good. I told her to do something today. She will go out with our moms. Let's say we need to check if everything for the wedding is done. Somehow, I managed to stay calm. I haven't peeked to see the dress. I think I can do this. Soon, I will see it. Hopefully, I won't get nervous. Let's say I'm not used to all the eyes being on me. It's only for a day. Then, Melanie and I will go back to our daily routine. - Are you ready to go out? - Melanie asked - I think so. - You don't look very confident. Did something happen? - I have the feeling Dylan has planned something I won't like. - Why would he do that? - Because he wants me to have fun. We used to do many things before. Growing up, I have changed. - You didn't change. Let's say that your interests did. - It's the same. - No, it's not. You are the same person as before. - How was the day with your friends? You didn't say much. - Because we didn't do much. Well, I found out something interesting. - Which is? - You didn't hear it from me, ok? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to talk about this. - What is going on? - Dylan and Chelsea had a special moment once. - What? When? - It doesn't matter. She said that both didn't talk much after that. - Why? There is nothing wrong with that. Was it the whole thing? - No. - Then? I can talk with Dylan. - No! Otherwise, he will ask from where you know. He has to tell you. - Really? Boys don't open up the same as girls. - Please, you can't talk about this. No one is supposed to know. - It's ok. I won't say anything. - Thanks. Now you better get ready. The boys might come soon. - I still have some time for you. - It's one day, but people put so much effort into it. I'll never understand this. - They want to show off. - Like us. - No, no. We want to have fun. - What's so funny about this? - I can have you for myself whenever I want. - This is not something new. Don't forget that we'll continue our daily routine after the wedding. - I know. You can plan something for Christmas. - Don't worry. I have ideas. - I'm sure you do. Soon, the boys came, and we went out. We decided to go for a walk. Later, we went for lunch. I have no idea what our plans for today are. Dylan looks in a good mood. I hope that he hasn't planned anything. All I want is a chill day with my friends. It's not that much. After half an hour, our food was here. I'm not that hungry. I shouldn't have eaten that much for breakfast. - Man, are you ok? You don't eat much. - Dylan said - I had too much food for breakfast. - Who made it? - Melanie. - That's why you had so much. - he said, chuckling - I made breakfast yesterday. - What about dinner? - We make it together. It's more fun. - No offense, but why are you always with her? Can't you do things alone? - I can, but I like sharing it with her. You are around girls all the time. I'm sure you are helping them. - No, he is not. I do it. - Noah said - What? Why? - It won't hurt you to help Chelsea and Natalie. - Jason said - No one made them do things for us. It was their choice. - Dylan said - So? It won't cost you anything to be nice to them. - Don't waste your time. He won't listen. For the past few weeks, he has been like that. - Noah said - Did something happen? You can tell us. - I said - Nothing except that he and Chelsea don't talk much. - Why? - I have no clue. They become distant. - Dylan, do you have something to say? - No. - Dylan, we are your friends. - I hooked up with her, ok? Now we don't talk. Even if Melanie already told me this, it still feels unbelievable. The only thing I don't understand is why they think it's wrong. It happened only once. They don't need to be ashamed of that. It's visible that this makes them confused. I believe that something was going on between them for a long time. Maybe they didn't want to admit it. Since that happened, our friends have no idea what to do. They lived together for so long. I won't let such a small thing ruin their friendship. Nothing bad happened. - Can I know how it happened? - I asked - No. I won't say anything. - Then why do you feel guilty? - I'm not. - Dylan, we have known each other for a long time. Stop lying. - Why do you care? - Because I don't want you and Chelsea to ruin your friendship because of that. - No one said that this would happen. - It looks exactly the opposite. Both of you don't talk to each other. I want you two in good relations for the wedding. Understood? - I'll try. - No, you will do it. - Why do you care so much? - You deserve to be happy. Also, everyone expected this to happen. - What? How? - You and Chelsea are not that different. - Yes, we are. She has nothing in common with me. - I don't know if she said this or you. - I said, and Jason laughed - He is right. You two have a lot in common. - I don't understand why you think this is a bad thing. - I said - She is my friend. - And? - That's it. I don't want anything else from her. - Are you sure? - Yes. - Hundred percent? - Maybe. - Figure out what you want. - I know what I want. Noah doesn't. - Hey, don't mess me in this. Natalie and I are good. - Are you two dating? - No. - What don't you tell us? - Jason asked - We tried once. - What does it mean? - I asked - Natali and I went on a date to see if it would work. - And? - It was a disaster. I mean, it was awkward. I had no idea what to do. Neither did she. - What happened? - We walked out as friends the next day. Both of us did the same things. This probably has been one of the best days of my life. - Maybe it's not meant to be. - Not as a couple, for sure. The boys and I kept talking. Later, we went to play bowling. I don't remember the last time I played this game. At least we had fun. Well, most of us. Dylan didn't enjoy this that much. We went to Jason's house for the afternoon. They have enough rooms for everyone. I planned to go home, but I guess it won't happen. After some time, we cooked dinner. Dylan went to the backyard. I don't understand why he feels guilty. It's not a crime to kiss someone. Maybe there is something else. - Hey, are you ok? - I asked - I'm fine. - Then why don't you eat with us? - I'm not hungry. - Dylan, what is going on? You are my best friend, and I'm getting worried for you. - I'm fine. - No, you are not. Talk to me. I can help. - She wants to move out. - Who? Chelsea? - Yes. - Why? - I don't know. I heard her talking on the phone. - Hold on. You know she is a broker. Chelsea probably talked with a client. - I don't think so. - Did you talk to her? - No. - I'm sure she is not moving out. Even if she is, why do you care? - Because I don't want her to go. She should stay here with me. - he said, and I chuckled - Dylan, Chelsea is not an object. You can't keep her next to you. - But she makes me feel good. - This is something you should tell to her, not to me. - I can't. There is no point. - There is. It's about time for you to try again. - Again? We haven't dated before. - The first time you met her. - I was young and dumb. She too. - If she makes you happy, show it to her. Make sure that she knows it. - How? - That is something only you know. I'm sure you can do it. I bet Chelsea likes you. - I will think about this. Thanks. - For you always. You can talk to me about everything. - It's good to know it. Love can be complicated. I don't think Chelsea will move out. Otherwise, Melanie would've told me. I'm sure Dylan didn't hear everything. These two need to sit and talk. It should happen before the wedding. I want them to spend it well. Next week will be tough. At least it will be worth it. We put a lot of effort into this. I can't wait to see her in the dress. She will be so pretty in it. My girlfriend looks good in everything. The spotlight will be hers. Well, our friends will take the attention from us. I'm glad that Jason will do it. I hope that everything will go well.
