CHAPTER FOUR
I order you to make this shift as easy for Jade as you possibly can. She is tired and for her to try another shift so soon after her first is
dangerous, but she will not listen, and you must help her.
I understand Alpha. I will do all I can to help her.
Saphira shook her silver fur and walked slowly to the front. This time there were no screams of pain, no ripping of muscles, just a
smooth, easy transition from woman to a wolf.
Saphira walked around the bed and bowed deeply to Victor. When she raised her head, his breath was taken away by the brightness
of her emerald eyes.
Stepping forward, he began to stroke the fur on her head. You are the most beautiful wolf I have ever seen. He breathed into her coat.
His wolf swelled with pride. His man had always had an eye for beautiful things, and he was glad that his mate met with his master’s
approval.
I told you she was something to behold, he told Victor.
Indeed, you did and right you were. Said Victor with a smile on his face.
Turning back to Saphira, Victor suddenly had a wonderful idea.
Saphira, would you like to go for a run? I know you are tired but it might be good for you to stretch your legs.
I would love to, but let me ask Jade as it’s her human body that needs the rest and not my wolf one.
I think it’s a wonderful idea! Exclaimed Jade before Saphira could ask her.
Saphira chuckled, she said that sounded like fun, she said to Victor.
Great! Just let me get changed and we can go.
Victor began to strip off his shirt and Saphira averted her eyes. She was going to have to learn to be comfortable with nude people if
she was going to embrace her full wolf experience. It was possible to change wearing clothes, but most wolves chose to take them
off as one could lose a lot of favorite garments by shifting with clothes on.
Before she had time to feel embarrassed, a large black wolf stood where Victor had once stood.
Hello, Saphira, greeted Jake.
Hello Jake. I’m glad you suggested we go for this run. I thought it might be a few days before I saw you again.
shall we go?
After you, Saphira said.
Jake jumped through the window and landed on the ground silently. He turned to see if Saphira was behind him and saw her standing
on the windowsill.
I’m afraid she said.
Don’t be afraid, the jump isn’t that far. You will be alright encouraged, Jake.
Trust me Saphira, in your wolf form you are much stronger than Jade's human form.
Here goes nothing, said Saphira, and leaped from the window.
Once she was safely on the ground, Jake started to slowly run.
Jade hung back trying to get used to the feel of four legs instead of two.
Jake saw her discomfort and ran back to encourage her.
It will get easier. Take your time and don’t rush. We will have many nights to run.
I’m sorry, apologized Saphira. I really thought it would be easier to walk. I mean it’s just walking.
Jake laughed and nuzzled her. One would think that, but remember she has been walking on her two legs for seventeen years and you
are just a newborn.
Thank you for being so patient with me, smiled Saphira.
Come on just a short run to get you acquainted with your new legs.
At first, it was awkward walking, but she soon figured out how to make her legs move in unison and there was no stopping her.
It felt good to run and feel the wind blowing through her fur. When at last Jake said it was time for them to turn back, Saphira was a
little disappointed. She would have liked to keep running forever.
Jake stopped at a stream and began to drink. Saphira mimicked his actions and was surprised to find the water cool and sweet. Soon
both wolves had had their fill and they sat quietly on the bank looking at the stars.
How do you like being a wolf? asked Jake.
It's more wonderful than I ever could have imagined, sighed Jade.
“This is the most beautiful sky I think I’ve ever seen, said Saphira. It was then that Jake noticed a glow coming from her direction.
Turning to look, he was caught off guard by the sight before him.
Saphira whispered Jake.
Yes, what is it? You look like you have just seen a ghost.
I’m not sure what I’m seeing but you are glowing. Well, at least your fur is. Jake managed to get out.
Well, that’s just silly. Wolves don’t glow, do they? Asked Saphira with a hint of laughter in her voice.
Normally not, but you are, said Jake. Are you feeling okay? We should go home, and I’ll call for Dr. Gaines. Come on, let’s not
waste time.
With that, he turned and ran for home. Jake wanted to get home as quickly as possible and found it hard to keep his pace slow
enough for Saphira to keep up. She was smaller and was still unsure of herself. Trying his best not to let his impatience show his
mind was linked to his Beta. Jermaine, call Dr. Gaines and tell him to meet us at the mansion.
CHAPTER FOUR
We’ll be there in a few minutes, and I think something is wrong with Saphira.
The answer" came back. Do you need my help, or can you get her home?
No, she seems to be doing fine, but I want the doc there when we get home in case she has a problem when she shifts back.
Victor, please sit down, said Jermaine.
I can’t rest without knowing if something is wrong with Jade. What if all those years she was given wolfsbane had somehow affected
her? What if she will have to continue taking it so that she doesn't shift?
Oh Jade, what have they done to you? Victor asked through the closed door.
I’m sure everything is fine. Dr. Gaines has done all the tests and said he would get back to us today with the results.
Just then the phone rang. Without waiting for the maid to answer it, Victor sprinted across the room.
Hello? Yes, Dr. we can meet you at the hospital in fifteen minutes.
