“You are late.” he stated the obvious, tapping his index finger against the glass of his wrist watch. His eyeballs glaring at her intensely, body still pressed against the wall across from the elevator.
She sighed as she stepped off the elevator. “I would have been here sooner, if some crazy man hadn’t jumped my car — It’s hard to drive with a man on your windshield.”
The day’s earlier eventful starter pack, did not at all end as soon as she jumped into her car. In fact it had just began — Mr O'Brien jumped on her car as soon as she locked the car doors, thankfully he didn’t try to break the car, rather shout — more of threw a brunch of cuss words at her and delayed her from work.
Being fed up with him and his endless punch on her car, she reversed the car which caused the man to loose his grip and slip off her car.
Wasting no time the girl drove off, leaving a even more upset man on the driveway — wishing how he could have just killed her then and there.
“How could you be so reckless.” Jayson sighed, shaking his head.
Shrugging her shoulders, she snorted.
“What? He is alive.”
But that wasn’t what he meant — not in the slightest. Drawing his other hand from his pocket he clapped his hands, then sighed as he pursed his lips for a bit trying to formulate his words.
“I didn’t mean you hit someone — I know her f*****g husband caught you. In his house f*****g his wife, maybe even in his own bed!”
He blurted his gaze changing from an unimpressed stare to a full on deathly glare.
Scarlet being who she was, simply laughed unaffected by the glares he kept throwing at her.
“First off, Lidia insisted we made absolute passion at her house for once and that her husband and child would be home around noon — how was I supposed to know I couldn’t have had another round because he would interrupt.”
Explaining herself she smiled, despite it being a horrific morning — the evening was glorious, though she wished the morning would have been as well. “It was very rude of him by the way. I am still very horny.” she pouted.
Letting out forced laugh he shook his head once again. “You just don’t learn do you? Someone will beat you up one day. And by someone, I mean on of their husbands Scarlet.” he spoke placing emphasis on the word husband — maybe then she would understand.
But unfortunately she did not, or did just did not care at all.
“You’re no fun!” she whined.
Choosing to speak no further on the matter she turned from her friend and began walking off to her office — she needed a nap.
Jayson cussed under his breath at his friends stubborn self. Picking up his pace he slowed down once he walked beside her.
“And you are begging for death.” he snorted.
“The only thing I’m begging for, is a woman to make love to me.”
“Married goddamn women!” he hissed glaring at the smirking red head.
Her smirk faded as her frown deepen, a bit too over dramatic — she was aiming to piss him off way more.
“Who cares! Marriage is a social construct introduced for the main purpose of blind submission. And anyway, people don’t marry for the right reasons — it gets boring, trust me. I’m helping those women.” giggled Scarlet, happy and content displayed on her face.
Justifiable — yet it still seemed and would always be too wrong to Jayson, even if he knew she was right.
“Oh really? Because if I remember correctly, you were about to get married once.”
Halting immediately in her spot she snapped her head at him. “Then I found out my s**t head half brother had been f*****g, the so called love of my life for two years. Not only cheating on his wife but backstabbing his little sister — who so happened to be head over heels in love.” forcing a laugh out of her — that seemed so dirty, bitter and full of pain, she lightly smiled. “So forgive me if I lost faith in this holy matrimony shit.”
“Scarlet—”
Cutting him off she immediately changed the subject, no way would she cry over things she could not control — and that had passed.
“Do I have any meetings today?”
Forcing his head to nod a no, he apologetically stared at her — regretting even bringing up as he saw past her forced smile. So much pain and agony hiding under the surface, that scar was too big to heal in not more than two years.
“I’ll be in my office if anyone needs me.”
“Scarlet!”
Looking over her shoulder to him, she smiled her hand gripping the door. “It’s okay Jayson. I just need to be alone right now.” with that she walked in and shut the door — her eyes stung as tears invaded, breaking her again — alone.
