20. Frenetic

She pushed the slightly open door with a swing of her hip. Entering the room with the tray in hand she pursed her lips. The woman was still asleep clearly, as her body laid limp on her bed the cover slipped down to her waist giving her a clear view of her pink shirt, she had lent the woman to sleep in. Her long black hair had been tied into a low ponytail, after endless hours of her getting slapped in the face with her hair every time she turned. Generally she couldn’t get away from her because the woman held her by the waist, tight not wanting to let go. Thus the poorly tied ponytail she had done in the dark to get a peaceful night. Scarlet placed the tray down to the vacant spot, she earlier laid on and lightly shook Lidia. “Good morning to you.” “A few more minutes.” she mumbled shaking Scarlet’s hand off her shoulder. “Get up, it is almost noon.” Scarlet announced patting her on the shoulder. And she had no choice, she couldn’t sleep all day mainly at someone else’s house, not because she felt like she was intruding but Scarlet wouldn’t let her. The moment she sat up she instantly regretted it as her head throbbed. Lidia winced at the enormous amount of pain. “My head hurts so much. How drunk was I?” she asked Scarlet as she sat up and pressed her back against the headboard. “Enough for me to carry you all the way back.” she answered handing over the painkiller and a glass of water. “It was just for me to forget.” mumbled Lidia as she took the pill into her mouth. All Scarlet did was hum in response as her head bobbed up and down. “You did forget alright — to walk.” She kind of felt embarrassed a bit at the revelation, more so knowing she had been a nuisance to the girl. “I’m really sorry for wasting your time.” she apologized offering a light smile, one that Scarlet didn’t return rather tilted her head and pursed her lips—thinking before she spoke. “You did waste my time a bit, to be honest. When you said ‘can I see you’ I expected for me to be pinned against the nearest wall once you saw me, not me watching over you get drunk. Though I can’t actually complain, you did end up in my bed and almost naked.” Lidia frowned. Maybe she had overstepped this whole concept of friends with benefits, by texting her while she was half intoxicated probably nagged her to death. “I—” “I was joking alright, you don’t always need me for s*x neither do I. I am your friend after all and this is what friends do.” She clarified with a smile, placing the tray of breakfast on her lap she scoffed. “Wasting my time? Not at all I appreciate you making me babysit you, you were fun plus I would have been here doing nothing.” Taking the slice of toasted bread with raspberry jam spread into her hand Scarlet brought it up to Lidia’s lips, persistently untill she took a bite out of it. Lidia swallowed down the chunk in her mouth and smiled. “You just went on a rollercoaster of emotions back there.” “You are very difficult to handle when you are drunk, I had to lock us in the room after a very dangerous game of hide and seek.” she spoke continuing to feed Lidia her breakfast. “I apologize even though I forgot.” “Next time I’ll take a video.” “Next time?” she questioned narrowing her eyes at Scarlet, taking yet another bite. “Of course next time. So tell me why were you drinking your problems out?” “Because my foolish husband confronted me about not honouring our marriage vows, like he is any better!” she shouted accidentally slapping the piece of toast out of her hand. “Lidia—” “He goes around f*****g them in their cars or his little office in the mechanic shop. He thinks I don’t know — for crying out loud he impregnated one, poor girl.” she hissed, turning towards Scarlet who was busy licking jam off her palm she sighed. “It is because you are not a man that angers him, he feels weak or something to do with his ego. He should man up really and stop crying about s**t when he doesn’t even give me attention, with you I feel cared for—loved—crazy really considering I am way old for you but you like me.” “What is there not to like?” “Me being eleven years older. My husband last touched me when I gave birth to Oliver at 30, it’s been years—” Pressing her lips against Lidia’s she cut the woman off. “His problem, he is stupid as f**k really.” she whispered pulling away from her lips, fighting the urge to kiss her again. “You are just saying that to f**k me.” Lidia scoffed chewing down on her lower lip. “Either way, I will.” she pulled her shirt off exposing her bare chest. She tossed the shirt to the ground and placed the tray on the nightstand, leaning over her body she smirked noticing the way Lidia gulped. “Don’t you want to?” That wasn’t a question she would hesitate to answer, she was all for it anytime — now more than ever. “I really, really like breakfast in bed.” she whispered pulling Scarlet into a kiss instantly.
