I climbed the stairs two at a time, heart racing. As I neared the seventh floor, the scent of my mate wrapped around me like a warm blanket—calming and electrifying all at once. It took everything in me to keep my wolf, Jaxx, from taking over. He was practically pacing inside me, desperate to be near her, to claim her.
But I had waited this long—for her. For us. And if tonight was going to be the night, it had to be because she was ready, not just because I couldn’t hold back any longer.
I opened the door softly. The room was quiet except for the soft hum of the shower running. Her scent was stronger now, steam blending it into something intoxicating. I slipped off my shoes, loosened my tie, and left my shirt in a heap on the couch before moving toward the bathroom.
