When I awoke the next morning I realized that mom was still in bed asleep so I quietly got dressed and headed downstairs at the same time I sent a text message to Dylan "Get your butt up and get over here already. While I waited on him I make a fresh pot of coffee and start work on some biscuits and gravy which is my comfort food and that morning I needed lots of comfort if I was going to be able to make it through the day. It must have been the coffee smell that woke mom up because it was only a short while later that she woke up and came into the kitchen for a cup it was only after she had her first sip she looked at me with a smile on her face and said "Good morning Kiera and thank you." she then proceeded to head back upstairs to get dressed. When she came back down she was dressed in sweats pants, a t-shirt, with her tennis shoes. I just stood there looking at her with disbelief. "You going jogging this morning," I asked with a little bit more sarcasm than I had attended. "No it's supposed to be cold today so I wanted to be warm and comfortable or do I need to go put on a ball gown for you," She snaps back. I just smile at her knowing she caught on to my sarcasm. "So you hungry I made some biscuits and gravy," I ask changing the subject. "I would love some thank you comfort food is defiantly what I need now,"

I bring her a plate of food then put my arms around her neck and give her a light hug she knows me too well. We eat out meal in silence knowing full well what the other one is thinking when the doorbells rings. I get up and go open the door knowing that it was Dylan on the other side but when I open up the door Lilith was there with Dylan looking a little shocked. Automatically I focused on Lilith's thoughts which came to me loud and clear Caylan had already struck. "Oh no, she already struck how did I not know this," I exclaim. I turn and look at Lilith with tears streaming down my face. "I'm so sorry I let you down," I cried. Then turned on my heels and ran upstairs to my room and fell face-first on my bed crying my eyes out. Dylan comes into my room and lays beside me on the bed stroking my hair waiting on me to finish crying after a while I sit up and hug him tightly. "I'm so sorry I failed you," I apologize.

"Kiera you did nothing wrong," He insists. Just then Elisi manifests in front of us. "He is right it's not your fault your brain shuts off while your asleep, it's your only weakness," Elisi explains. "You can't hear people's thoughts while you're asleep my dear,"

"Seriously that's my kryptonite," I say disbelievingly.

"It makes sense actually peoples brains do shut off so to speak when they are sleeping," Dylan advises.

"Great so if I want to protect people I have to stay awake," I say smartly.

"No, you will go mad if you don't get any sleep," Dylan says.

I get up off the bed and place my hand on his knee and he winces in pain, I automatically pull the leg of his black sweat pants up to see a deep cut in his leg. Elisi floats one of my clean shirts over to me where I hold it over his cut. "Mom! I need you hurry! Dylan's hurt," I yell at the top of my lungs. "I'll get them, "Elisi says as she dissipates. Within a few minutes, Mom and Lilith fly through my bedroom door."How bad is it," Lilith exclaims.

"It looked like it needs stitches," I choked.

But when I remove my shirt off Dylan's leg the cut was gone, I sit there staring at his leg muttering. "I know there was a deep cut there," Elisi interrupts me saying. "Your healing power seems to have shown up," 

"Looks like I don't have to go to the hospital to get stitches," Dylan says cheerfully.

 "Thank you for healing my son Kiera," Lilith says sincerely.

"Your welcome, but I don't know how I did it," I reply.

"Love my dear you healed him with love," Elisi states.

"It's no surprise that she's in love with him," Mom says laughing.

After all the teasing was done we went and had some breakfast that I had made just a few moments before. "So how did you get out of the house before it burned?" I had to ask out of curiosity.

"I helped them, just like you asked me to do," Elisi says.

"Thanks, Elisi." I say."If I could kiss you I would," 

I blow her a kiss before she dissipates into thin air then I excuse myself and head upstairs to change out of my pajamas and slip into a comfortable outfit.  When I come back downstairs I see mom setting up one of the guest rooms for Lilith and Dylan. "Hey, mom did you get the other room done if not I can go do it?" I ask as I walk into the room.

"Yes I did and thanks for offering," 

"Mom is there a spell or something we can do to fix her house back like it was, I mean like the one we use on the trees when they are burnt,"

"There is but we should wait until we deal with Caylan and also do it at night also only in section so no one gets suspicious. What would you think if a house magically appeared overnight after it just gets burnt to the ground,"

"Good point," I chuckle.

I head back into the kitchen for another cup of coffee after the morning I've already had I know I'll need a lot more caffeine to make it through the day, but when I go into the kitchen the only person I saw was Dylan still sitting at the table. "Hey, where did your mom go," I ask.

"She went to buy some new clothes since ours got ruined in the fire," He answered.

"Really you didn't want to go so you could pick out your own clothes,"

"Mom said I should rest since I got hurt, besides she actually picks clothes that I actually like,"

"Really," I said."I haven't let my mom pick out my clothes since I got a sense of style."

We head out to the backyard so I could practice using my powers some more. When I was doing my power chant I started thinking how close Caylan had come to killing Dylan and Lilith I could feel so much power rising in me that it felt like I was on fire then started shooting my witch fire at the cans on the fence except when I shot the cans the whole fence fell into pieces along with some trees that were behind the fence."Wow, I think your powers seriously have grown," Dylan exclaimed. "I mean you literally had purple flames surrounding you and I don't think the fence or trees did anything to you,"

"I did," I mutter shocked that I had that much power inside of me. The next thing I know everything started spinning then blackness closed in around me. When I awaken my eyes I see mom and Dylan on either side of me except I'm not outside anymore I'm inside lying in my bed.

"Sweetie, how are you feeling," Mom asks worriedly. As I look more closely at her I notice that she has been crying. "I'm fine mom," I moaned."What happened," I ask looking over at Dylan who looks like he's been trying to hold his tears back. "I don't know one minute we were talking and the next you fell to the ground," He says.

"Dylan told me what happened before had when you were practicing, I've never seen or heard of anything like that," Mom exclaims.

"I don't know exactly what happened either all I know is that I was doing my power chant and somehow I ended up thinking how close Dylan and Lilith came to dying then I noticed how much power seemed to flow through me and the next thing I know I'm getting dizzy then I wake up here," I divulge to them.

"Seems like you had a power spike," I hear Lilith say from the doorway.

"Energy spike," I ask. "What's that,"

"It just means that you tapped into the power that you have stored deep into your soul," She explains.

"Ok so why did I pass out," I beg.

"Because you're just learning how to control your power, this power blast took a lot of strength that drained you," She advised.

"I want to go see the damage that I did in the backyard," I say getting up from the bed. Surprisingly mom didn't argue with that request except she insisted that I hang onto Dylan for support and I wasn't about to argue with her about that request. When we step outside I see the devastation that I had done there was a bigger path that leads right up to where my coven and I hold our circles. I shake my head at the site there are trees laid to the left and to the right I literally parted the trees right down the middle. Dylan the joker had to pop off. "Well instead of the parting of the red seas this is called the parting of the trees," I watch Lilith snap her neck over at him and shake her head. "Not the time Dylan your girlfriend has just gone through something none of us has gone through and she did it because she is the Cosanto'ir," She then turned to me and smiled. "You are the true Priestess and I am truly honored to be your friend,"

"And maybe soon you'll be her mother-in-law," Dylan announced. Lilith whispered a couple of words under her breath and popped him on the back of his head. Mom and I couldn't help but laugh at the sight before us after she popped him on the back of his head she hand grabbed one of his ears and dragged him inside of the house. We decided to stay outside while Lilith gives Dylan a few choice words which thankfully we couldn't make out. I head over to the vegetable garden and start pulling the little weeds that have started coming up since the last time we had weeded the gardens. Mom calls me over to where the fence is."Let's fix these trees what do you say," She asks me. I smile at her. "Let's do it," I say cheerfully.

"Spiorad na Tree, Eist rium, Tha fios agam gu bheil cuideigin a ghoirteachadh air gravely thee A. Gabh am bla`ths,comhfhurtachd,agus an t-uisge, Agus's do`cha iad stad a chur air an a`r," Mom and I chant in Gaelic. 

The trees magically start standing back up just like they were before proud and beautiful. I look over at my mom biting my bottom lip and ask. "So how do we fix the fence," She looks at me and laughs. "With nails and a hammer my dear,"

"What do you mean we can't spell it back to the way it was," I groan."Yes, we can but I also want to teach you that there is something we can do with our own two hands," Mom advises me. We decide to wait until tomorrow to go get the nail we needed to fix the fence so we decide to head inside where it seemed that everything had calmed down. Dylan was sitting on the couch watching tv while Lilith is in the kitchen doing some cooking. "I figured I would get started on some food for tonight. Hope you don't mind," Lilith acknowledged. "That's fine," I say. "Here let me help you I'll work on the deserts that's what I like making,"

Mom heads into her office while Lilith and I start cooking for tonight's circle meeting. I still don't like the idea of having a circle tonight with Caylan out and about but it is a Sabbath so we need to celebrate. Mom thinks that I should be strong enough to hear Caylan if she plans on attacking even if I am in my circle. Later on that evening everybody showed up right on time while mom and Lilith insisted on doing the rest of the setting up my coven and I strolled into the woods to our sacred spot. I had already made a partial circle out of salt and after everyone stepped inside I ask Dylan to close it. When we were done with the blessings I smiled at my coven and said." I know it's been a hard couple of months so far thanks to Caylan wants to harm us all and I want to apologize to every one of you I shouldn't have invited her to our circles or even let her get to any of you and for that, I'm truly sorry. So tonight I have a surprise for all of you so if you will follow me back to my backyard," I open the circle and lead the way back to the house where our families are waiting for us with little bags with necklaces that have our covens name engraved in it. At first, my coven was a little confused until I stood on the top step that leads into the house. "I've invited your families here with us tonight to help us celebrate Mabon, now parents please hand the bag your holding to the rightful owners," I announce. The parents did as they were instructed to do then when my coven opens the bag they see little boxes one for each of their family members. I continue saying. "Now please hand each of your family members a box and open it, as you open it you will see a necklace with a pentacle on it and engraved along the outside of it is Night Wind I did this because I want all of you to know that I consider every one of you my family and I'm here to protect you all,"

I could feel my face turning red all over again when everyone started clapping after I gave my speech. Mom and Lilith came over to me and gave me a hug while Dylan gave me one of his deep kisses. Our circle lasted until the next morning. When I finally woke up Sunday it was well past one. Mom was already awake laying on the couch watching tv she looked like she hadn't been awake for too long. "Looks like you haven't been up to long," I say on my way to the kitchen for some much-needed caffeine.

"Nope just laid down here when I heard you moving around," 

"That was quite a circle last night wasn't it," I laughed.

"It felt more like a big party," Mom laughs.

"You want some coffee," I offer.

"Yes please," Mom replies.

I go into the kitchen and make us a cup of coffee then take Mom's cup into the living room for her. "Thanks, dear," Mom says. I go and sit down in the chair that sits beside the couch. "I take it were the only ones up," I say trying to make small talk. "Lilith is out running some errands she had to do, but Dylan is still asleep," 

"Mom, do you think I could go up into the attic and look through the books,"

"Sure go ahead just wave your hand across the lock it will recognize you and unlock,"

I head upstairs and throw on some shorts and a t-shirt with my tennis shoes then head up to the attic and proceed to go through my family's Book of Shadows. I couldn't believe how far back my ancestry goes finding out my family originated from Ireland which is pretty cool. Also, I found out that my great, great, etc. grandmother Margaret Corey's mom Maire's Book of Shadow's she was in fact the Cosanto`ir it starts off from when she was seventeen finding out who she was and how she learned to handle her amazing powers, but it also goes on to say that some people tried to get her to use her powers for evil instead of for good. I couldn't imagine using my powers for any kind of evil only for good, but I do refuse to let people hurt my family. I put all the other books I got out of the chest back in except Maire's book I take that one into my room to see if I could learn anything else from her.

Dylan notices me sitting on the bed reading while on his way to the bathroom. "Hey, you how long have you been awake," 

"For a couple of hours now,"

"I'll be right back," 

I sit back and start reading some of the stories Maire wrote along with some unusual spells. I decide to call Elisi to help explain what types of spells these were."What do you need my dear," Elisi asks. I lay the book open on my bed in front of her. "What types of spells are these Elisi," I inquire. "I don't recognize them,"

"This is Maire's Book of Shadows isn't it,"

"Yes, mom said I could go through the books that were in the attic I found out she was the last Protector so I kept her book out to see if there was anything in here I could use or learn,"

Elisi closes the book. "You shouldn't be reading this book Kiera there's nothing in here that can help you,"

"She was a Cosanto`ir so there might be something in here Elisi,"

She finally decided that I wasn't going to give up on the book without an explanation. "Ok from what I know Maire started out using her powers for good and don't get me wrong she did a lot of good until she met a man and fell in love with him soon after they got married, had beautiful children Margaret was the oldest of six children. Well, Margaret already left and was married by the time the Moan showed up in town and fell in love with Maire. From what was said that he had spelled a group of men from a neighboring village to kill her husband and the children one day while she was out gathering herbs in the woods. She lost it and took revenge on the men and their families she walked through their village burning everything down while making the men watch as their family and friends were burned alive. Moan took advantage of her rage and had her kill anyone who wronged him or he just didn't like,"

"What happened to her Elisi did she ever come back to the light,"

"Yes she did only with the help of Margaret she helped her see that she was tricked, you see Margaret had a gift of premonition she could see the past and the future, and she was able to show her mother everything that Moan had done along with how greedy he was. She saw it all how he was using her as his personal weapon. So when she found out he tried to stop her but she was too powerful for his magic and she turned him into a familiar for Margaret then killed herself because she couldn't live with the horror she had done,"

"A familiar really," I laugh. "Hang on it's not Taboo is it,"

"Yes it is, his curse is to serve this family for eternity and he has been passed down from Margaret,"

"No wonder he's a lazy cat now," I say laughing.

"But what I'm saying this book won't help you it just has dark magic in it, I'll put it back up in the trunk if you would like me to,"

"Sure Elisi and thank you, granted I won't change if front of Taboo again." 

Elisi grabs the book and dissipates while I wonder if she is actually taking the book back to the trunk or hiding it. I hear Dylan getting out of the shower so I decide to head downstairs where mom is in the kitchen making something to eat. "So did you find anything interesting in those books," She says.

"Actually I think I found out more from talking to Elisi," 

Mom gives me a funny look and I just say. "Do you know about Taboo,"

She busts out laughing and nodding her head "What can I say he pissed off the wrong witch,"
