Blood Moon

For the first time since I was made the leader of my coven I had to cancel our Saturday night circle but I made mention to everyone to do a solitary circle or they could do one with their family. I had so much going on yesterday with my dad being taken by Caylan then having to rescue him. I wonder if she even cares that she had almost killed him because he had lost so much blood from his bullet wound it had taken me almost an hour just to heal him. Surprisingly dad didn't take our advice to head back home to Portland knowing full well that tomorrow is the Blood Moon and that is the day that Caylan has planned to attack us. Funny thing is that he thinks he can protect mom and me from her even though we are the ones who rescued him from her just yesterday, but he is my dad so I'll let him believe what he wants, for now, it's kind of cute, just wish he would understand that it's a magical battle, not a human military battle. Mom has promised me if it gets bad she will personally drag his butt into the circle to keep him safe, even Lilith and Dylan said they would help all I wonder who is going to save them I know that she is going to target them first then come for me, but what she doesn't know is that I'm not an easy target. Blessed goddess, please watch over my family.

When I wake up on Sunday I find my crazy boyfriend snuck into my bed with me, he is lucky my dad didn't come in to wake me up like he used to, but I've noticed he has been spending a lot of time with mom, I wonder if he is trying to get back with her which wouldn't be a bad thing I would love to have my mom and dad back together. I slowly slide out of bed trying not to wake Dylan up and head to the kitchen to see mom and dad sitting in the back yard having coffee and laughing. "They look happy don't they," Lilith says scaring me so bad I drop my coffee cup. "Oh, hunny I'm sorry I thought you heard me come in." Then bends down to help me clean up the mess that I made. "It's ok and yes they do look happy," I answer. "They looked just like this right before they divorced,"

"If you don't mind me asking why did they get divorced," Lilith inquires. "I'm not exactly sure, from what mom told me was that they were just living two separate lives he is military and she is a police officer, but I know she still loves him and he loves her,"

"Well, that enough of me being nosy," She laughs pouring me another cup. "I was wanting to talk to you about tomorrow mainly about the Blood Moon," We go to the table and sit down. "So I did some research about the Blood Moon I had remembered something my mom used to tell me about it giving a witch a little power boost so to speak," She explains. "Really, so what did you find out," I encouraged her to go on. "Well it seems that she was right it does give a power boost but with you your already a powerful witch that when the Blood Moon rises you'll be unstoppable. She beamed. "So why would Caylan want to attack on then, it doesn't make sense," I question. "Well because if you look through the books that talk about the Blood Moon that aren't witchy books they all say that witches are weaker and more vulnerable on that day," Dad chimes in on his way into the house. "Sorry I didn't mean to interrupt, but I did some reading before bed last night," He blushes a little where you can see it under his scruffy beard. We just sit there staring at him in amazement for a little bit that he did some reading on witches. "What I do read." Dad blurts out. "We know you read Adam was just shocked that you were reading about witches and found out a valuable piece of information that we were all wondering about," Mom chuckled.

"Well obviously Aiden didn't teach her how to properly do research about the witch families, but what can I say he thought we were normal non-magical witches," I laugh.

Dad looks at me strangely the asked. "You said Aiden are you talking about Aiden Redux,"

"Umm yea he was the witch hunter that attacked us first and Caylan and Blaine's dad, well you know what I mean Caylan's stepdad and Blaine's dad," I mumble. Mom looks over at dad. "Why do you ask," She says.

"Because he was a friend of mine back in basic, I thought he was a good guy, but then he just disappeared never heard from him again," Dad divulged. "Really," I exclaim. "What a coinkydink,"

"You was in basic when we were dating," Mom pointed out. "I know, you met him once when we were on break," Dad adds. "That's right you brought him to my apartment," Mom exclaims. "That's probably when he found out I was a witch, hang on I'll be right back," She gets up from her chair and runs to her room when she comes back she carrying a box of old pictures. "Mom is this a picture of your apartment back then," I ask holding up a picture of a room that had an altar set up for autumn and with candles meticulously throughout the room. "That's the one I was looking for, this is what he would have seen when he came over, I wasn't hiding who I was back then, your dad knew I practiced even back then he just didn't know I could do this," She reached over and lit the wick on the candle sitting in the middle of the table. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of my dad not knowing that the girl he was dating was a magical witch even still just now finding that his wife and daughter are magical witches. Dylan finally wakes up and heads to the kitchen where we are still gathered around the table. "Morning sleepyhead," Lilith says. "You do realize it's almost noon,"

"Come on mom I'm a growing boy I need my rest," Dylan jokes. "You're already over six foot tall I'm hoping you'll quit growing," Lilith laughs. We all end up laughing I reach for my cell phone that sitting on the table and back up so I can get everybody in the picture. I wanted to remember this moment where I had everyone I loved in one room. Dylan pours himself a cup of coffee then comes over to the table to see what we were looking at. "Any pictures of Kiera as a baby in there," He asks. "No there isn't this is just pictures of mom and dad," I blurted out. "Well, that's not actually true," Mom says. "There is a couple of pictures of you in here when you were little,"

She starts digging out pictures of when I was just a couple of days old with dad holding me, pictures of her holding me, and my favorite one with Elisi holding me the day I was born, but when she pulled out one of me when she was bathing me I about died of embarrassment. " I think it's time we put these up now," I announce as I start picking up the pictures and putting them back into the box with all of the others then take them back to mom's bedroom closet. I hear everyone laughing behind me when I walk off.

 After putting the box of pictures in Mom's closet I go into my room to change out of my pajamas and into a pair of sweats then head outside to get some practicing in before I have to face Caylan tomorrow. I turn around when I hear everyone head outside to watch me when I decide to move a tree around the yard. "Hey, Kiera can you show me how you levitate people in your circles," Dad asks. I nod my head then we all form a circle and I start my power chant that's when we all start rising off of the ground. Dad handles it better than I thought he would considering it's his first time being levitated. Since he had handled that so well I decided to see if I could make him look like he is flying. I asked him to stand in the middle of the yard which he obliged I then slowly lifted my hands picking him up off the ground higher than I ever have. "Ok dad now lay down I got you," I yell to him. I see him take a deep breath but he lays on his stomach then puts his arms out to his side. I slowly move him around the yard he really looked like he was flying he was actually laughing and having fun which was a great site for me to see. We spent the rest of the day the same way laughing and having fun, dad even helped me with some of my training that I had been doing I loved it we seemed like we were a family again. Dylan was more than happy to get off training duty with me he spent the day laying back on the couch watching tv while mom and Lilith caught off on house cleaning they even put on a pot roast for dinner that evening. 

  That night I had a hard time falling asleep knowing what tomorrow would bring I even had Dylan sleep beside that night so I wouldn't feel so alone. Every time I would fall asleep I would wake up screaming from a nightmare of my loved one being killed by a dark figure. I screamed so loud once that Dylan got scared and fell off the bed even dad ran into the room to check up on me. I think mom even came into the room once because after that I slept until ten the next morning. When I rolled out of bed I noticed Dylan wasn't anywhere in the room so I went ahead and got dressed for knowing it was going to be a very long day. As I went downstairs I saw my little family sitting in the living room talking. Mom saw me as I came down the stairs.  "Hi, dear did you sleep any better after I put that sleeping spell on you," She asks. "I figured that's what happened," I said. "And yes I did thank you,"

"For once I'm up and around before you," Dylan laughs as he hands me a cup of coffee made the way I like it. "And you'll be in bed before me also," I tease back. "So what were you talking about when I came in," I prodded. "Nothing much I was just getting to know your boy here," Dad commented. "And what do you think about him," I chuckled. "He is a pretty good guy from what I gather but I haven't put him in my interrogation room with the spotlight on him," Dad said trying to sound serious to scare Dylan but I caught the slightest chuckle in his voice. "Adam I'm serious I'm a good guy I would protect Kiera with my life," Dylan says nervously. I couldn't hold back my laughter any longer I had to sit down before I fell down I was laughing so hard then mom and Lilith had joined in even dad laughed a little bit. Dylan was just looking at us with a questionable look on his face. "Please tell me what's so funny," He begged. My dad stands up and walks over to where he is sitting then places his hand on Dylan's shoulder. "Son I was just jerking your chain I can tell you're a good guy, you're ok in my book," Dad said comfortingly.

You could see the relief in Dylan's face after that he even started laughing at himself for not catching on to dad's joke. "Truthfully though you shouldn't worry about making Adam or I mad you should worry about making Kiera mad she could kick your but a lot better than either of us could that's why we don't worry too much about her when she is with you," Mom says putting her two-cent in. Dylan couldn't disagree with that he knew that I could wipe him clean off this earth but he also knows that we really haven't had a fight since we got together we have our disagreements but not a full-blown argument. Either way, we were going to enjoy the time we had until Caylan shows up which we had an idea about when she was going to show but it wasn't a for sure thing because she could change her mind at any time. I decided to recruit my sweet boyfriend to help get things set up out back where we planned on confronting her when she decided to show up. I made three half-circles for protection one in the back of the yard, one on the left side and another on the right side so whoever needed it could get into one and close it. I even moved the chairs and tables further down the porch so we couldn't trip over them and last but not least mom and dad came out and placed their spare handguns on either side of the porch just in case they lost the one they would have on them, but that would only be a last resort. We all knew I wouldn't be able to tap into the moon's power until it comes up. After everything was done we enjoyed the rest of the day talking and enjoying each other's company. Mom, Lilith, and I decided to make a nice big meal for dinner that evening while dad and Dylan played some Call of Duty on Dylan's Playstation four-game system.

  It was about seven that evening when Caylan stormed through the front door we were already waiting for her when she showed up firing rounds out of the two handguns she had in her hands. Mom got hit by a bullet in the arm and Lilith ended up with a big shard of glass from the back sliding glass door. Dad grabbed mom and went to one of the circles while Dylan got Lilith safely to another. I looked up at the sky and saw the eclipse starting all I could do was smile while looking at Caylan strutting out of the house like she was some kind of badass. I looked back up at the sky the Blood Moon was full I gave Caylan a little wink while I was silently chanting my power chant the power I felt inside me was nothing I had ever felt I was at that moment The Cosanto`ir. Caylan started unloading her handguns toward me I raised just one hand up and the bullets just fell onto the ground she reloads with full clips and tries again but the bullets never reach me. "You can't be this powerful who the hell are you," She screams. I calmly just smile at her and answer "I'm Kiera Cormac, The Cosanto`ir and now it's my turn to play," She looks at me with the fear of God written all over her face then turns to run away but she stops in mid-run as I close my hand. I walk over to her knowing she couldn't move until I let her go. "You shot at my family and did other awful things to them it's time for you to know how it feels to be tortured," I let my hand open up but at the same time, I put a ring of witch fire around her to hold her. Caylan falls to the ground sobbing in terror while repeating "Please don't kill me" over and over again.  "Why should, I you have tried to kill us all you even killed Marcus because he was going to give the police your name so please tell me why I should grant you mercy," I snarl. All she could come up with four words. "I am your family," 

"You are not my family," I growled back at her. "Family doesn't try to kill each other," I turn my witch fire into a tornado around her while sending witch messages of people screaming for help. We could hear her screaming from inside the tornado I stop the messages and the tornado. I looked over at my dad who had tears in his eyes and nods at me. "Get up," I order. Caylan obeys and stands up. "If I ever see you in this town or around any of my family I will personally come and kill you," I scream. I remove the circle of witch fire from around her. "Because this isn't who you'll be facing," I do my power chant again and think of everyone she hurt "It will be me," I growl. Knowing I turned into the Cosanto`ir I could feel the witch fire take over my body. Caylan just runs through the back gate a few seconds later we heard her tires squeal as she takes off. I walk over to where Dylan was with Lilith I figured she was worse off than mom, I nod for him to pull the glass shard out of her so I could heal the wound. I didn't realize how deep it was it had severed a blood vessel in her leg thankfully I got it healed up before she lost too much blood. Then I go over to where my parents are and remove the bullet and heal my mom up. After all that I had no more strength left and I passed out right there in front of my family.
