I woke up the next day with a splitting headache after everything that went on the night before. I was slowly getting out of bed when mom came into the room. "Nope sorry you're in bed for the day doctor's orders," Mom ordered. "Ugh," I replied by putting my hand on my head. "What happened,"
"What do you remember," Mom asked. "Well, the last thing I remember is healing you and feeling really weak," I recalled. "Exactly you fainted right in front of your dad and me."Mom explained. "And when you fell you hit your head hard on the ground so we called the doctor who surprisingly made a house call as a favor to you,"
"What do you mean a favor to me,"
"Well, it turns out that he is Lilly's uncle and since you helped her he thought this was a good way to help her,"
"Really, that's great and really sweet of him,"
"So you have to stay in bed just as a precaution,"
"Great," I mumble. "How are you and Lilith doing,"
"Were fine thanks to you,"
"That's good how's dad holding up,"
"He was in shock for a little bit but he has recovered,"
Just then dad walked into the room to check on me. "Hey, ladybug how are you feeling," He asked. "I'm fine just a little headache that's all," I breathed. Mom gets up and goes into the bathroom and comes out with two Advil and a glass of water. "Here take this it'll help," Mom insists. "So you were pretty amazing last night," Dad complimented me. "Thanks, I had no idea I could do anything like that and I never want to do that again, if it wasn't for you I probably would have killed her," I admitted."I don't think you would have killed her, I believe you would have stopped yourself," Dad says lovingly. "I'm glad you think so dad," I say trying to sound chipper. Dad smiles and gives me a hug then says. "Well, I'll let you get some rest let me know if you need anything,"
"Thanks, Dad," I yell as he walks out of the room. "I'll make you something to eat and bring it up to you," Mom says cheerfully then walks heads to the kitchen. I slowly pull myself up on the bed to where I am sitting up since I'm not allowed to get out of bed. A little while later my mom comes into my room carrying a breakfast tray with oatmeal, fresh fruit, and a cup of coffee. I had been wondering why Dylan hadn't come up to see me so I decided to ask. " Umm, mom where's Dylan I figured he would have come up to check on me seeing the doctor said I wasn't allowed to get up,"
"Oh, I'm sorry I forgot to tell you," Mom starts. "They went to their house to finish working on it,"
"Oh ok then," I mumble. Mom heads downstairs while I eat my breakfast. I decided to send a text to Dylan to tell him that I was awake and that I was ok. A few minutes later I received a message back saying. "Thank goodness I was worried about you. I would have been there but mom thought me helping her with the house would be a better use of my time instead of sitting on the chair beside your bed. Love you I'll be back soon."
"Love you too. How is your mom's leg doing," I sent back."She said her leg is good like it never happened," Dylan texts back to me. While I'm finishing up my breakfast I decide that there is no way that I can stay in bed all day that would drive me crazy mad. So I get up and dressed then I make my way to the bathroom to freshen up. I go back to my room to grab the breakfast tray and take it to the kitchen where my mom is sitting at the table with dad I automatically stop in my tracks when they see me. "I thought you were supposed to be in bed young lady," Mom informs me coldly. "Come on mom I'm ok please don't make me go back to bed it's boring," I begged. Mom turns to look at dad for a minute like they were sending their own witch messages to each other then finally mom turns back to me. "Ok you can stay up but the first sign of you getting dizzy or anything it's straight back up to bed you got it," She says sternly. "Crystal clear mom," I say cheerfully. "So do I get to go back to school tomorrow," I ask. "One thing at a time," Dad beams.
I decide to spend my day pulling weeds out of the gardens since mom wasn't going to let me leave the house. Thankfully it was too long before Dylan and his mom show back up, but this time it was to get their belongings because they had finished work on their house. "I'm planning a little get-together tonight I would love it if you all would come," Lilith offered. "We wouldn't miss it for anything," Mom accepted. "Wonderful and I have something special for you also Kiera for saving our lives last night," Lilith said.
Later that evening we showed up at Lilith's newly reconstructed house which looks like the house that had burnt down. Dylan greets us as we approach the front door. "Welcome to our new and improved home," He boasts cheerfully. Mom and dad walk ahead of me so when Dylan shuts the door he takes my hand and leads me into the living area where the rest of the coven was having drinks and visiting. "Mom hired a bartender for the night he will make you any drink you wish," He announces. Mom and dad make their way over to the bar to get them a drink then start mingling with the other guests. Dylan and I sneak off to his room which is a lot bigger than the other one he had before the fire. He even got a queen-sized bed this time instead of a full-sized one, I was amazed at how he decorated his room it was so neat and tidy instead of a cluttered mess. "Wow, I can't believe this is your room," I exclaim. "It's so big compared to your old room,"
"Yea I mentioned that to mom so she made me a bigger room, and gave me more storage space, along with upgrading my stuff," He explains. I walk over and sit on the side of his new bed. "So what is the surprise that your mom has for me,"
"I'm not allowed to tell you,"
"Awe come on you know you want to," I pout childishly.
"Don't worry you'll find out shortly, I promise you'll love it,"
"Oh ok," I say. Then we head back into the living room where my parents and the rest of the guests were. Soon after that Lilith came into the room and announced that dinner was served in the dining room. We all follow her as she escorts us into a huge room filled with tapered candles and a gigantic mahogany dining table. She has place cards with everyone's name on it, so we took our assigned seats, of course, she took the head of the table while Dylan and I sat on one side of her and my parents on the other side. After we all enjoyed our food she had one of the maids she had hired for the evening to clear the plates and bring out the deserts. It seemed that she spared no expense on the evening it was just like her lovely and elegant. Before we enjoyed our creme brulee she tapped on her wine glass to make an announcement. "Everyone may I have your attention for a moment you know we have had a rough couple of months lately because of that witch hunter. But thanks to our dear Kiera and her mom we don't have to worry anymore and we can get on with our lives, that is why I wanted to have this lovely evening and also to thank Kiera for getting rid of that horrid girl, so Kiera I have a present for you," She says then looks over at Dylan and nods her head.
Dylan stands up and moves his chair back then takes a knee at the same time holding a little black box. "Kiera Cormac I've loved you from the first day I met you, you have become my life, I don't know what I would do without you and I don't want to find out, Kiera would you marry me," He opens the box that is holding the biggest diamond ring I've ever seen and offers it to me. I sit in my chair completely stunned I look over at my parents who nod in acceptance They knew about this no wonder they've been chipper all day. I look back at Dylan and say. "Yes, yes I'll marry you," I go over and give him a big kiss and hug then he places that huge ring on my finger. For a moment I feel like I might faint. She was pregnant that he had just found out when I told him. Poor dad mentioned the wrong name to her. She went all ballistic on him shouting throwing things she even knocked him over on the floor and stormed out the door and drove away. At the same time, I jumped up and yelled it's time to go we jumped into Dylan's truck and headed to the cabin dad said he was in. Mom, Lilith, and I got out and Dylan stayed inside the truck with the engine running. Caylan had locked the door behind her which didn't stop me and after I unlocked it we saw dad laying on the floor weak from blood loss. Mom and Lilith removed the tape around his ankles and wrists while I stood guard I had decided to heal him on the way home I already knew it would take a little longer than it did healing Dylan's leg. We slowly got dad up on his feet and helped him into the backseat of the pickup while mom took the front seat. None of us breathed until we got back to the house safe when we pulled into the driveway mom got out and put her freeze spell on the entrance of the driveway. I had already removed the bullet from Dad's shoulder and healed it up he was still so surprised and relieved.
