Maya learns about her Past

797 Words
Maya' POV. Nathan thought that his whining and begging would have me fooled, but he must have been out of his mind to think that. When Sandra joined in, pleading with me to believe their lies, I felt a fiery rage build up inside me. "Please, Maya, you have to believe us. We are just good friends. Whatever evidence you have, it has to be fake. You have to believe us," she said with a straight face. The audacity of her lies made my blood boil. I had to confront her. "What made you think I would believe you, someone I am speaking to for the first time? I know everything about you. You are stupid, I'll give you that. But, I can clearly see through your intentions," I told her, my voice sharp with anger. As Sandra approached me, I pushed her away in disgust, and Nathan's wolf instincts took over. He saw me as a threat and I could see he was not in control of his own body. His wolf held me by the neck, causing all the guests to gasp in horror. I couldn't believe that this was happening. Was I going to die again, without having a chance to change my future? The fear and desperation consumed me, and I struggled to break free from Nathan's grip. Kiara's voice emerged from within me, brimming with confidence and determination. "No, we fight back," she declared. I could sense her taking over, and I relinquished control, feeling too exhausted to keep fighting. Kiara's transformation was swift and powerful. She emerged as a majestic silver wolf with a star-shaped black patch adorning her forehead, a sight that left Nathan stunned, for it was the first time he had seen my wolf form. Kiara was massive, and I had always wondered why this was so, but I had no one to ask, having been raised by human parents. I watched as Nathan took a step back, fear and surprise etched on his face. My love for him had blinded me to the reality of his true nature. How could I have been so naive? Before I could do anything, a huge figure strode past me and effortlessly hoisted Nathan up by his neck. "How dare you harm the Princess?" he yelled at Nathan. I shifted back to my human form. One of the men dressed in black rushed to me and handed me a jacket. I gladly accepted it and put it on. By the time I looked up, I could see Nathan's face turn white. "Stop it!" I shouted at him, and he let Nathan go. Nathan fell to the ground and gasped for his breath. "Who are you, and why did you call me a Princess? I'm sure you have me confused with someone else. Thank you for helping me out, but I can assure you that I had everything under control," I said. He smiled. I could now see this man clearly as he took a step forward and introduced himself, 'I am Adrian, the Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack, also known as the Royal Pack of Germany, and you, my dear, are the Princess of the Norwegian Pack.'" My heart skipped a beat. Princess? Alpha? Pack? What was going on? I never knew I had any connection to this world. Adrian continued, "Your parents were the King and Queen of the Norwegian Pack, and you have two wonderful brothers. Didn't you know any of this?" he asked. His tone was polite, but there was so much authority in it. I didn't know what he was talking about. I looked at him with a confused gaze. All of this was too much for me to process at the moment. I was spiraling into a web of thoughts when a sweet smell broke my trance. I couldn't help but look up and see that it was coming from Alpha Adrian. I wished I hadn't heard what Kiara had to say next. "Mate!" What? Mate? Did she mean him? Now of all times, especially when I had vowed to myself that I didn't need one? I still didn't, and I would choose to ignore it. I hoped he hadn't realized it. I simply needed my independence, freedom, and a life away from Nathan and his shrew. I wasn't up for another episode of family drama, especially with the royal folks. Let's first deal with the problem at hand and think about the rest later. Since we weren't married, I supposed rejecting Nathan in front of all these witnesses was enough for me to achieve my goal. As for Alpha Adrian, and my birth family, I couldn't care less. I had had so much drama for one lifetime, and I was sure it could all wait.
