Xavier tried to get out of bed but he was still a little weak. He trembled as he supported his body using the side table of his bed. He then sat down on his bed and waited for someone to come to his room. Not long after, his mother walked in with a bowl of soup and a fruit salad. “Xavier, you are awake. I brought some food for you.” Penelope said with a warm smile on her face as she placed the tray of food on the side table and pat her son’s head. “Mother, please help me to the bathroom.” “What happened? Do you need to pee?” “Mother!” Xavier whined like a little boy to her mother. How can she ask something like that? “Okay, okay. Come on lets go.” Penelope helped Xavier to the bath room. After reaching, she waited outside for Xavier. It was about thirty minutes since he got in there. Xavier’s bath room was sound proofed, so she did not know what he was doing for so long. She opened the door to find Xavier deep in thoughts it the bath tub filled with bubbles. “MOTHER! GET OUT!” “I am sorry dear.” Penelope said as she laughed at the complaining Xavier as she closed the door. After some time Xavier came out with a frowning face. He was feeling a lot better as well. “You used to love it when I kept you company while taking baths. What happened now?” “Mother, I am a man now, okay.” Xavier sat down on the bed and began to eat his soup. “Xavier, what were you thinking about?” “Nothing mom.” “Do you really want to keep secrets from me?” “It is not that I want to keep secrets from you mother, it is just that, I, I cannot really trust that you will understand.” Penelope was offended by what he said but she could not blame him. She had turned her back on him before and distanced herself when Xavier needed him the most so she could understand why Xavier cannot trust her but she wanted to change that. “I know I have don’t despicable things as a mother but sweetie I promise, whatever you are going through I will stand by you. Whatever is in your mind, you can tell me. I will try my best to help you anyway possible.” There was silence in the room. After some time Xavier said, “Mom, I want to find Alexander. He needs me right now. You don’t know this but he is very dependent. He pretends that he is strong but in reality, he is the most fragile person I know. When I was out sleeping just now I saw him in my dream. It did not feel like a dream. I realized that it was actually a memory before you found me almost dead. I think his life is in danger. He told me that he has wounds and that he was in pain and he did not want to go back to his father’s house.” Xavier was sobbing as he told his mother. He was worried about Alexander. “Then you can go and find him. After you have recovered you can go look for him.” “I have recovered mother, I can go now. I can go tomorrow.” Xavier said with excitement covering his face. He could not wait to hold Alexander in his arms. He wanted to find him as soon as possible. “Dear let’s wait for your father first. He left when you were still asleep.” “But what if he stops me? You know how father is mom.” “He will not stop you. We have already talked about this.” “When is he coming back?” “He should be back by tomorrow.” As Penelope said that a maid walked into the room and announced, “Madam. Sir has arrived.” After Penelope nodded the maid left. “Well he is early. Come let’s get down together.” Xavier put the half full bowl of soup onto the tray and stood up to leave. No doubt he was nervous. His father was another man who was drowning in the pool of ego.

They went down stairs and as they descended the staircase they could see Alfred pacing in the dining area. Alfred heard the footsteps and said before turning his eyes, “Honey we need to talk…” he was startled to see Xavier walking side by side with his mother. “Xavier? You are awake.” Alfred said with guilt clouding his face. How was he going to face his son after he announces the news? Penelope was already hard to handle but now there was Xavier as well.

“Alfred, you came early. Did you tell the Abrams that there will no longer be a wedding? I hope they took news good because I cannot deal with this anymore. Why are you so silent?” “I am sorry but…” “What do you mean you are sorry Alfred? Didn’t we talk about this?” “That man started calling me a wimp of a man who cannot control his son. What did you expect me to do?” “I expected you to be a man and think about your family and not the coward you acted.” Both of them were screaming at each other. Penelope was red from anger. Why did she even trust him to do right at the first place, she questioned herself. On the other hand Xavier’s heart never beat faster than it was beating. He knew that his father was too egocentric to talk about the wedding being cancelled. His father’s pride was his weakness. You could make him do anything if you challenged his pride. Tears rolled down Xavier’s as he slowly walked to his room leaving his parents who were fighting to notice him. He walked to his room and sat on the bed and sobbed quietly. He was still sobbing when the door to his room opened. Ellen walked in and sat next to him. “So, the wedding is still on.” Ellen said. “I don’t know if that is a question or a statement but yes it is.” “So are you going to have a traditional wedding or the ones where it is just dinner?” “Ellen are you here to annoy me? You clearly now that I am against this wedding.” “No, no, I am asking seriously. See if you are having a traditional wedding you have to sit at the altar with your face covered, you know that right?” “I know that.” Xavier said. “So like if you don’t mind I can fill in for you.” Ellen said smiling at Xavier. Xavier could not believe what he heard. He looked at Ellen with wide eyes. “So, do you mind?” “But you said…” “I know what I said Xavier. Will you answer me or not?” Xavier did not know what to say so he just hugged Ellen and thanked him. “There is a catch though.” Ellen said breaking the hug. “I will do anything you want. Just name it.” “It is not much. Just find Alexander and leave happily. I don’t want to marry that girl for nothing.” Ellen said as he smiled at Xavier. He had seen the love Xavier had for Alexander and he wanted it to flourish. Not to mention he was shipping them so he was not going to sit there and watch his ship sink in tears.
