Avery POV April 24 I felt a tingle of excitement as my mind floated to the surface of that abyss the hospital kept me in with heavy sedation. I understood that rest helped the body heal, but I was so sick of sleeping. My brother and sister were here, and I’d barely been conscious enough to say two words to them. Then there were my friends. They came every day to see me and half the time I was floating along that river of oblivion. It sucked. As the fog lifted, I opened my eyes. Jonah’s head rested on the edge of the bed next to my hand. Now that most of the tubes and wires had been removed, my bedrail was able to be lowered and Jonah made full use of that edge, even though there was a fully functioning recliner in the corner of my new room.  My heart flipped over in my chest as I watch
