CHAPTER TEN Sarah and Peter settle for the night in an old hollowed-out tree trunk. The mushy bottom of the hollow is dry compared to a shoveled pit in the snow. Sarah lies on her back, staring at the top of the opening. Bugs crawl about the soft rotting wood. They don’t bother her.
