A Second Chance

Chapter 3:

Christian looks over at me and Luke. I am looking at Luke smiling “Luke?” Christian asks Luke chuckles “hey Christian” Christian then walks over and gives him a hug “man we all miss you so much,” “I know thank you for taking care of my firecracker” Christian nods “yeah well she isn’t exactly easy to handle” he teases I hit his arm and smile “hey that’s mean” we all 3 laugh and smile.

The moon goddess clears her throat and we all turn looking at her, “please children have a seat, except you Luke please join me.” I look up at him and he nods. He kisses my forehead before whispering “sit with Christian” I nod and sit beside Christian on a log while the twins just stand behind me.

The moon goddess looks at us all, “now I understand there has been a confusion with what is going on so let me explain.” she starts “James and Jaydon Vivian was not your original mate I had placed you with, but unfortunately your mate passed before you could meet her.” they both stand quiet “she was human but would’ve made a great Luna.” She looks at me “Vivian now I wasn’t going to give you a second chance mate as I heard your cries after Luke died and was going to make sure you were happy but Luke saw the twins and asked me to pair you guys together.” I looked up at Luke, shocked “why?” is all I ask him he chuckles.

“Oh my firecracker” he walks over taking both my hands. I stand, a tear runs down my cheek. He wipes it off and smiles “I want you to be happy and I know the twins will make you happy. Please Viv give them a chance” he says pleadingly with his eyes. I turn my head and look at the twins. They nod and give me a small smile. I sigh and look at Luke, “but…..” he shakes his head “no more buts please Viv for me give them a chance” I close my eyes and cry softly before nodding “o……ok” I say

Luke kisses my head one last time before nodding at the moon goddess who smiles and a light shines. I close my eyes looking away. When I open them again Luke and the goddess are gone but I smell the most amazing smells. The smell of freshly baked cookies and the smell of a warm summer's night. Turning I look at the twins, Zara purrs in my head and smiles “mates” she says I nod “glad to have you back Zara” I say; since Luke’s death she has been quiet but will talk every now and then.

The twins walk over to me, I growl “mates” they both smile James puts his hand on my cheek and the sparks run down my spine I shiver and smile. “We promise to protect and love you as mates should” he says I nod. “I know and it will take me time to get used to having a mate again, much less 2 alpha mates” Jayden nods.

As we head back to the pack I tell them about myself up until they first met me, I learn more about them. Once we reach the packhouse the twins ask Christian if it would be ok for them to stay a while until I am ready to leave with them and he agrees giving them a spare cabin near mine.

The week would pass by slowly. I woke up early to go to training then straight to work for a 13+ hour shift.

The third day I wake up feeling achy and like I was burning up so I run a cold shower and sit under the shower head for what felt like forever but the sensation of burning up never went away. It wasn’t until my door was practically busted in by James did I realize what was happening…….I was in heat. James’ eyes were black pools and he walks closer growling, I back against the wall of the shower “I can smell you little mate” he growls. “James please” I whisper but my body starts to ache for him. He walks into the shower fully clothed and grabs my hips pulling me towards him. He lowers his head into the crook of my neck and I shiver at his touch “please” I manage to get out before he lifts me up and carries me out of the shower.

James sits me on the counter kissing and sucking at my neck where his mark will sit. I let out soft mews and moans. He rips his clothes off, “I’m going to f*ck you so hard mate” he growls I nod I needed the pain of the heat to leave I didn’t care how much I didn’t want this man I needed him. He thrusts up into me and growls at the pleasure I gasp and cry out “JAMES!” I yell, he growls and smiles “yes that’s right scream my name little mate I am all yours and you are mine” he whispers before making his thrusts faster and harder.

After James made me orgasm over 5 times in the bathroom he carried me into the bedroom where Jayden was waiting. Jayden walks over to me laying on the bed already exhausted from James and runs his hand up my leg I shiver and moan softly he chuckles, “oh I am going to have fun with you kitten” he growls and takes his clothes off

Climbing over me he kisses my lips roughly then moves down to my neck biting and sucking softly. “Jayden” I whisper breathlessly “shhh kitten I will take you in due time but first you're going to c*m without my c*ck inside you” I nod and he begins kissing down my body.

Once he gets in between my legs he starts to lick and gently bite at my bundle of nerves my back arches and I grab his hair with one hand and the headboard with another “oh f*ck Jayden” I moan and he adds a finger along with his tongue. Just as promised he made me c*m and man did I c*m hard.

Jay moves up and kisses me before pushing himself inside me. I wrap my arms around his neck and hold onto him as he begins to f*ck me hard. You see James may have been rough but it wasn’t as rough as Jayden. I was so sore when Jayden was done with me that I instantly fell asleep. We had gone for hours before they both let me rest so when I did I slept like a baby. James and Jayden had the perfect opportunity to mark me but didn’t they wanted to wait till I wasn’t hazed by the heat to make the decision on if I wanted to be marked by them and I loved that about them.

I wake up to the smell of food being made and my stomach lets out a growl indicating I am super hungry. I get up slowly and make my way to my bathroom. Looking in the mirror I looked like s*it. My hair was an absolute mess and I had hickies all over my neck and breasts “d*mn men” I mumble to myself. I turned on my shower and walked inside it. I began to wash the grogginess off of me and try to relax my achy muscles. Getting out I grabbed my towel, wrapping it around me. I walk out into my room where I stop when I hear a growl.

Looking up I see James standing in the doorway with a tray of food. He sits it down and walks towards me “James stop please” I say backing up. My back hits the corner of the doorway and I wince before James pulls me to him. Leaning down he inhales deeply taking in my scent, “you drive me crazy little mate and if I didn’t just f*ck your brains out last night I would be doing it now” I gulp and nod not sure what to say.

“Sit” he says and I sit on the bed. I watch him walk over and grab the tray of food before sitting it before me on the bed. He kisses my forehead and smiles “eat little wolf ok?” he asks I nod and give him a small smile “thanks” he nods and walks out. I take the tray and sit it on my bedside table then grab my phone and laptop to do some work while I eat. I call my office and tell the nurses who work with me to send anything they need to my laptop as I will be working from home for a few days as I was “sick” and couldn’t come in.

After a while I realize my tray is empty and James or Jayden hasn’t been back in the room so I take my laptop and flip it back into a tablet and look over some reports while I take the tray into the kitchen. I mindlessly get some water and sit at the bar sipping it while working on some reports and some things that need approval for patients. I frown as I see something weird so I call the office not realizing my mates are watching me from the table. “Marie what’s this about Ms. Eberts report I didn’t approve that” I say waiting “no I told you to keep her on the saline drip this week because everytime we take her off she ends up dehydrated and she refuses to drink anything we give her” I say rubbing the bridge of my nose. We have some more chats about a couple more of my patients then let out a long sigh, “no don’t do anything I will be in give me an hour…..no call the family we can't wait she’s a DNR……..Yes I will be right in…..ok.”

I hang up and stand only then realizing they are sitting at the table sipping coffee “what’s going on?” James asks. “One of my patients isn’t doing well, we are calling the family in. I need to go” I say before going into my room and changing. I throw on my scrubs, put my hair in a messy bun and grab my jacket. Running out I grab my bag with everything I need in it. I grab my keys off the table and head towards the door, “wait we are coming with” James says I turn. “There’s no need I won’t be long I promise” but they were already putting their jackets on and walking over to me. My body starts to heat up as they walk closer. Jayden growls and grabs my chin and lifts my head gently but forcefully. He leans down and whispers “we can smell you little one don’t forget you're still in heat” my heart quickens as he says that and I nod.

I make it to the hospital in under 30 minutes and Marie is waiting outside for me. I jump out and the guys follow behind as she gives me all the updates. “Did you call the family in?” I ask, she nods “yes but they are over 2 hours away” I sigh and look over the charts, “ok well wait for them and inform me the moment they arrive I am going to go see her” she nods and I head to the elevators.

I get on the elevator with James and Jayden right behind me. We stop on the 2nd floor where my office is and I grab a few things, handing them some spare scrubs so they can change. They couldn’t just walk around in street clothes around sick patients. “Now you two are just residents that just transferred here ok?” I tell more than ask and they both nod. We head out and back onto the elevators. Once we reach the 3rd floor I walk towards some double doors and place my badge on the reader. The doors open and I head into the PICU. I walk over to room 315 and open the door slowly. I smile “there’s my favorite patient” I say as a little girl looks at me. Kelly was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer at 6 then beat it at 7 well around 9 she was told she now has stage 4 and there is nothing more to be done. Her parents begged me to try everything and save their daughter but unfortunately there was nothing I could do. She is now 10 and well…..none of the medicines are working for her and she’s not doing well. I look back at my mates and nod, they walk in and I sit on the small stool beside her bed.

“Kelly, how are you feeling today?” I ask as I put my stethoscope on her chest to listen to her heart and lungs. “Well I am really sleepy today and my tummy feels funny” she says I nod and smile “it’s because of the medicine honey have you eaten today?” I ask and she shakes her head. “Ok well let's get you something to eat and see if that helps then I have some more of that story to tell you ok?” she perks up and smiles “ok!” she says jumping up and down I pat her head and stand.

I walk out of her room and to the nurses pod. All the nurses eye James and Jayden I let out a low growl but clear my throat, “Jane when you are done eyeballing my boyfriends can you please get Kelly some food nothing heavy jello will do and some nausea medicine please” I tell the nurse in front of me she nods and walks away quickly. James chuckles. I turn “so we are your boyfriends?” he asks, I roll my eyes “they were eyeballing you and I didn't like it.

Laughing he leans down “we are so f*cking you in your office when we are done” he whispers lowly in my ear. My face turns a bright red and I hit his arm trying to compose myself.

I walk around a bit visiting my older patients and my younger patients. I stopped at a little boy’s room. His name is Tyler and has been on the list for a heart transplant for 2 years and we haven’t been able to get one. His parents are visiting today so I stand back and watch him laugh and play with them. “What’s wrong with him” Jayden asks, I sigh “he has a bad heart and is needing a new one but we can’t get one anywhere” I whisper and look at him. He looks sadly at the little boy I take his hand in mine, and smile softly.

I go back and see Kelly for a bit before going to my office and looking over some paperwork. I look between Tyler’s and Kelly’s files and notice Kelly is a match for Tyler I gasp, “holy s*it!” I jump up and run out and go find the nurses over Tyler. “Did you know Kelly was a match for Tyler?” I ask quietly so the parents don’t hear and give false hope. “We did but doctor White can she even donate?” They ask, I nod “yes the heart is just fine it’s her liver that’s damaged I will talk to her parents when they arrive but we may have given Tyler a longer life” I say smiling happily. If I could save one patient I would try my hardest.

I pace my office waiting for Kelly’s parents to arrive muttering about what to tell them and how to convince them to donate Kelly’s heart to Trevor if/when she passes. “You need to sit down kitten” Jayden says I shake my head “no I am fine” I say still pacing. He walks over and grabs me sitting me down in my chair “that wasn’t a question” he says in a demanding tone I look at him my breathing quickening. I hear a low growl and he puts his hand gently around my throat squeezing just slightly. “Good girl” he growls and my body lights up and I grow wet instantly.

Jayden pulls me up then sits me on my desk. Kissing my neck he pulls my pants down and then slides himself into my wet folds. I gasp and moan. He growls and smiles “shhhh kitten don’t want anyone to hear you” I bite my lip as his thrusts grow hard and fast. Burying my face into his neck I cry out as I c*m he smiles “good girl” he says before kissing my head and pulling out. I lean against him breathing heavily and smile “mmhm” is all I can say in response.

After James decides it’s his turn with me I lay on my couch already exhausted and ready for a nap but my phone goes off. I groan and grab it from my jacket pocket that was taken off and thrown on the floor thanks to James for that. I see a message from Marie “Hey doctor White Kelly’s parents are here” I groan again and sit up grabbing my clothes, “Kelly’s parents are here” I say as I start to get dressed and make myself look presentable and not like I just had mind blowing s*x in my office.

James and Jayden start to get dressed but I stop them, “don’t I need to do this alone wait here I will be back please” I beg with my eyes and they both nod. I walk out of my office and head up to the third floor to talk to Kelly’s parents. Walking up I hear Kelly laughing and telling her parents about all the exciting things that have happened this week. A sob catches in my throat and I try to swallow hard but it feels like sandpaper. I walk into the room and put on a smile, “there’s my favorite kiddo” I say and Kelly jumps up and hugs meI laugh and pat her head. Looking up I smile at her parents “Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, may I speak with you outside?” They look at each other before nodding. We walk out of the room and a nurse walks in to keep Kelly company.

I walk them off a good distance before sighing, “as you know Kelly isn’t doing any better, all the treatments and medication isn’t helping anymore.” I see tears form in their eyes “what happens now?” Mrs. Peterson asks “now we wait and let things take course” I say sadly “she maybe has 24 hours 48 at most before her body starts to shut down.” Her mom starts to sob and falls against her husband. I blink back my tears “I am so sorry we have tried everything but her body rejects every medication we give her and she couldn’t handle chemo or radiation it was too much for her,” I say and look at the mom “when I was 21 I lost my first baby I never got to meet it I was only 14 weeks along I know what you are going through losing a baby but” I pull out Trevor’s files and hand her a picture of him, “this is Trevor he is 8 years old and needs a new heart” I say looking at them both “Kelly is a perfect match for him and we were wondering if you guys would consider donating her heart to save another child’s life.”

We all sit in a conference room with Trevor’s parents and talk about donating a heart. After about 30 minutes Kelly’s parents agree to donate her heart as long as they can stay in contact with Trevor’s family so they can hear their daughter’s heart and his parents quickly agree. We all sign some papers to allow the donation and I tell my nurses to make sure an OR is opened for the next 24 to 48 hours then I stand and leave the two families to talk and get to know each other.

I sat with Kelly for an hour telling her more of the adventures of Zara the wolf; which yes was my wolf but she never believed it was real. After she falls asleep I walk out and to my office where my mates are waiting for me. I sit at my desk and rub the bridge of my nose. This has been an emotional day and I wasn’t prepared for the next 48 hours. James walks behind me and rubs my shoulders, “everything will be ok love just breathe” he whispers. I take a deep breath and tears run down my eyes. “I have been watching that little girl grow sicker and sicker wishing I could help her and yet……she’s going to die because I can’t save her” I say and James just holds me close to him letting me cry.
