David couldn't stop thinking about Ryan. Ever since that incident in the Every time he saw him at school, he felt his heart skip a beat. He would try his best to act cool and confident around Ryan, but on the inside, he was a nervous wreck. Ryan, on the other hand, seemed unaware of how David felt about him. He was always surrounded by his wealthy friends, laughing and joking around. David found himself feeling envious of Ryan's glamorous lifestyle, wishing he could be a part of it. One day, David's hopes were raised when Ryan approached him in the school cafeteria. He asked David for help with his math homework, and David eagerly agreed, grateful for the opportunity to spend time with him. As they worked on the problems together, David's heart raced with excitement. He couldn't believe that Ryan was actually talking to him, let alone asking for his help. "Hey David, thanks for helping me with my math homework." Ryan grinned, flashing his perfect white teeth in David's direction. "Uh, no problem." David tried to keep his voice even, to mask the excitement he was feeling inside. "Seriously, I don't know how I would have passed that class without you." Ryan laughed, slapping David on the back. David felt his heart flutter at the physical contact. He tried to ignore the fact that Ryan was probably just being friendly, but he couldn't help the way his body responded. "So, did you hear about the party this weekend?" Ryan asked, taking a sip of his soda. "No, I didn't." David tried not to sound too eager, even though he was dying to be invited. "It's at my house. My girlfriend's dad is out of town, so we're gonna have a huge party." David could feel his heart sink at the mention of Ryan's girlfriend. He tried to hide his disappointment, but he couldn't help feeling jealous. "Oh, cool. Have fun." David forced a smile, even though he wanted to crawl under a rock and hide. "I will, don't worry about that." Ryan grinned, patting David on the shoulder. David realized that Ryan wasn't interested in him in the way he had hoped. He talked about his girlfriend and their plans for the weekend, completely oblivious to David's feelings. David felt a pang of longing wash over him at the physical touch. He wished that he could be the one that Ryan was interested in, but he knew deep down that it was never going to happen. David tried his best to hide his disappointment, but deep down, he felt crushed. He had built up this fantasy in his head, imagining that Ryan might see something special in him, despite their different backgrounds and social circles. The rest of the day was a blur for David. He barely paid attention in his classes, consumed by his own thoughts and emotions. All he wanted was to be alone, to process the rejection he had experienced. As he walked home from school that afternoon, David began to feel a sense of resignation. He knew that his feelings for Ryan weren't going to go away anytime soon, but he also knew that there was no point in pursuing something that wasn't meant to be. Despite the pain of unrequited love, David felt a small sense of pride in himself. He had been honest with Ryan about his feelings, and he had taken a chance, even if it hadn't worked out in his favor. As he arrived at his small apartment, David resolved to focus on his own life and goals, rather than fixating on someone who would never feel the same way about him. It wasn't going to be easy, but he knew that he had the strength to move on, even if it meant leaving his crush behind.
