Chapter 63

I felt terrified when I saw the missile hits Alexis position, but I can’t focus on her entirely as I can hear the more enemies are running towards us. I closed my eyes, hoping that Alexis is fine or at least alive from that explosion.

That was unforeseen and caught us by surprise and thanks to that rocket, the cargos that are giving us cover from the Shinigami, not that I assume that we completely stopped his rampage but I can say that it gave us safety, even not that great. If only I can reach the top of it, or Troy is here with us because I am sure that I can use his bombs to blow its base to make it fall, but no, nothing is in favor with me when it comes on taking him down in this battle field.

His blood curdling bullets started to rain on me again, and my rage... I can feel it going up slowly. With my enhanced physical capabilities, I dodged the bullets while I ran towards the enemies, now that the Shinigami is focusing on me, I can tell that Alexis is out of his sight, or worse...

No, don’t think about it! Be positive Nova she is still alive, she promised you that she will not die on me. -Just remember that, she is one tough bastard to kill. I got near to a group of enemies, instead of killing the first person that I met, I went straight in the middle of them to blend in, I want to try something.

Before I did that, the enemies are prepared to fire at me but I did not pay much attention to them and I dashed towards them with all my strength knocking the others down, while avoiding the bullets that they fire at me.

When I reached their center, I was greeted by a terrified expression from an enemy and I smirked at him and instantly grabbed his neck, and as usual I need someone to be my meat shield. I immediately circled around, and the others are hesitant to shoot this guy that is struggling tog get out of my grasp. I noticed that he closed his eyes.

“SHOOT ME!” he shouted and hats off to him! This one is a brave man, willing to sacrifice his life for the greater good, but sadly, his death will be in vain. “SHOOT ME!” he shouted again, and I observed their expressions.

They care for each other, which surprised me, because what I am thinking towards them all this time is that they are a ruthless group, ravagers, or barbaric creatures. But no, why am I thinking about that now. My clenched fist on this man’s neck slightly loosened when he tried to bite my hand, but jokes on him, his teeth cannot pierce through and instead I choked him harder which made him cough, and he struggled more as he gasps for air.

“S- sho- shoot me p- please,” he begged, I am putting him in an immense torture right now, I looked at him and his eyes are almost white and his skin is getting paler. I heard gunshots all around me, they started firing all at once. With my meat shield, and it seems like almost impossible, I managed to survive that death squad moment.

With my injury, I cannot avoid to sustain small injuries from them. Just grazes, nothing more. I threw this man’s body full of holes towards them.

“Catch,” I threw his body to them at full force which sends them away, and I grabbed my gun, and started shooting at them while I run for cover, my suspicion was right just like them the Shinigami is just like them.

He is afraid to harm his allies, I need to plan my actions first before I head towards Alexis, I don’t know how is she right now. Please be fine. Please be alive. For god’s sake, live for me. DAMN IT! Where did it all go wrong?

I am not sure but I am sure that everything is not too late for me and I can still save them, all I need is to have a better judgement, unlike earlier, if I don’t want them to die.

Now to plan my course of actions, towards them, my stamina is declining and we need to get out of here fast. I don’t know how much time, we had left before the evac arrives, but that’s not my priority right now, what is more important right now, is to save Alexis from the enemy.

Ohh, if only there is a way- the ground suddenly shakes violently and multiple explosions happened. I have no idea what is happening right now, but I hide to protect myself from the falling rubble caused by the explosion.

When it is all done, a thick smoke suddenly creeped into my location, I am so confused right now, on what is happening, but one name just popped in my mind, and thinking that it was him gave me more hope that we can get out of here.

Troy.

I got out and I coughed when I inhaled the smoke and I don’t have vision on the area right now, if only I have some googles on. Obviously, with this thick smoke that enveloped the area, Troy was nowhere in sight, so I had to aimlessly walk.

Getting out accidentally is a death sentence as the Shinigami can shoot me immediately. With his allies still on the area with me, that gave me the chance to wander aimlessly, without him firing at us with his calculations. Even the chances are low, I don’t want to risk it.

I don’t know which direction I should go, but thankfully thanks to my reflexes when I saw the smoke creeping around, I inhaled more air immediately and enough for me to hold inside this area for quite some time.

The enemies are not wearing masks that can prevent them from inhaling the smoke too, so that’s why this battle is a fair fight for me, because like me, they will need to get out of here fast, to gasp for air. I took advantage of that and used that to travel towards Alexis’s location.

My eyes are slightly opened because the smoke irritates my eyes, and I am using my instincts, trying to feel if the ground is familiar, to determine if I already been here earlier. For my friend’s sake, I will do this.

Thanks to this smoke I don’t need to go through such hard trial, and it saved us big time. I walked as fast as I could and the smoke is getting thinner and thinner, which means that I near outside. All I need is to get out of here fast.

I slowly opened my eyes, because vision is getting clearer as I walk slowly and this time, I am fortunate because I travelled the right direction, but the cover here is busted, and now I need to be careful towards Shinigami.

I can’t avoid his bullets all the time, as I learned that he is very capable of predicting enemy’s movements. I won’t get cocky towards him, because there is a lot at stake right now.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe, and prepared my legs for the dangerous run that I have taken in my life. My eyes are closed and hope to God that that it won’t get me. My legs are moving on its own right now. I almost stumbled when I stepped on a c***k, but I with my drive right now, even it hurts, I managed to gain my ground.

This time I opened my eyes because of the pain that I felt because of it and I was surprised by myself that I am already here. I tried to slow down but, when I did a bullet almost hits me, and I ran until I got myself to a temporary safety.

No time to waste now, so instead of resting, I continue on moving to find Alexis. I looked around and this place is too wrecked because of that rocket launcher. A powerful explosion, come to think of it, speaking about explosions right now, I don’t know where is Troy right now, just after he saved me back there, but I won’t waste the chance that he gave me and I will use that to find Alexis.

There are faint gunshots everywhere and what caught my attention is the gunshots nearby me, I just learned that Troy is not in this area, and that means the only one here is Alexis. I hurried to that location without being detected by the others.

I concealed myself from the open area and I am in a dark corner right now which will make me hard to notice by others. I checked the mag of my pistol because in this situation if I rush into them immediately, it will only cause trouble for us.

So I decided to ambush them and this way, it is much better for us, as I can take down the enemy quickly with them not shooting back at me, and also I can aim much effectively at them. Must go for headshots if I want them to drop dead quickly and fortunately for me, they have no helmets on their heads which will make it easier for me to shoot them at the head. This is good.

I prepared my pistol, and these bastards firing towards my friend is just in front of me, and before I shoot, I checked the area, to determine how many enemies are in the area.
