“Clear!” I shouted towards Alexis and she came out from her hiding and ran towards me as fast as she could. Now we won’t worry about the Shinigami shotting us down because there are no eyes locked down on our location right now. If that bastard has luck on his side, then it’s hopeless for us to get out of her alive. All he needs is our coordinates and he can shoot us with perfect accuracy if we stay on that spot for more than a second.
That alone is quite terrifying, the fact that I already experienced it earlier, it already traumatized me for a little bit, that is why I need to take the enemy down as quick as possible so that he won’t determine are current location.
That bullet that can penetrate hard metals and walls, is also scary. Even graze of the bullet can cause us massive injury because of its explosiveness. Still, I need to be stealthier so that no more problems regarding with him.
“Garrison,” Alexis spoke to her radio trying to reach Garrison. “We are on our way towards the exfil point,” she informed him. “How long till the evac arrives?” she asked.
“T-minus 120 seconds,” he quickly replied and that’s two minutes away. Then that means that we should be quicker than this.
“From the looks of it, you need to slow down as we are still far away from the exfil point,” she informed Garrison. “You might be shot down before we arrive and that is not ideal for us,” she informed him.
“Okay, all I can do is extend two more minutes,” he said and still that is not enough for us.
“4 minutes? Extend 3 more minutes,” she told Garrison.
“Negative, the evac is already inside the enemy territories and all we can do for you is wait at the exfil point if you are not still here,” Garrison told us.
“Goddamn it,” she whispered then punched a wall. “Copy, we will head there as fast as we could,” she told Garrison.
“Copy,” Garrison replied. “I will connect you to eagle right now so that you are informed when they arrive,” he added.
“This is eagle, over,” then we heard his voice and they sent the most skilled pilot that we have. Dad really like to sacrifice just to keep me alive. We already lost two, or worse three of our greatest assets if Troy can’t make it and that is harmful to our gang because they weigh more than one person, the Shinigami into picture. We can’t avoid to take the route, that we will encounter him. The exfil point is the best place away from enemies’ sight.
“Eagle, we can hear you, we are headed to your way, just be there when we reach the exfil point,” I said to him.
“Copy that boss,” he replied, and I went towards Alexis side and I can tell that she is not happy.
“Put some faith, come on,” I told her as I touch her shoulders reassuring her that everything will be fine. She looks at me straight in the eyes.
“I know,” she replied. “But still with this many enemies, it will delay us to reach the exfil point,” she said to me.
They don’t know,” I replied to her. “We are the only ones that knows about the exfil point,” I reminded her because we have separate channel from the enemy, so they probably cannot hear our conversation so we are clear even if we are delayed.
If fortune will hug us, then those four minutes will be more than enough for us to reach the exfil point. We don’t know what will happen once we go outside of this room and I reminded myself that this is not a game. There is no respawn, no saves, no restart.
We only have one try and we need to execute this one try as perfect as possible. No room for mistakes and when the door opened, that leads us back to the cargos stacked up and I can see the control room from here.
With time as our enemy, we started running and the Shinigami’s location is not getting out my mind. Once that slips out of my mind then we are good as dead. I can see the cargo from here and I rushed towards Alexa and we rolled on the ground. I am not wrong as a bullet puts a c***k on the ground.
As I expected there is no distance limitation with this person.
“Thanks, that almost got me,” she told me. “That almost gave me a heart attack,” she remarked, I know Alexis, I know because I experienced it beforehand.
“We must head to the most covered are and execute the enemy as fast as possible because even in hiding he can still kill us,” I informed her as we crawl on the ground as fast as we can, as the Shinigami tried his luck and tried to shoot more bullets at us.
“That’s quite terrifying,” she remarked.
“I know,” I replied to her, “That’s why we need to be more careful,” I reminded her. “Let’s go find a much safer path from that demon,” I told her and we stood up once we reach a house that gave us cover. I scanned the area to find a route that will help us to barely avoid the Shinigami’s grasp. Well, if that will help us to at least avoid his bullets.
I saw a path where a cargo maze that we have been before and I still had the layout in my mind.
“Let’s go,” I told Alexis before I dashed out from my hiding and I tried my luck and still my eyes are continuous, roaming around to see the area that I am moving with, so that I can avoid encountering the enemy directly.
I know that Alexis is at my back and strange enough for me, there are no bullets coming straight at us right now. Maybe the Shinigami is repositioning himself to get a better look at us when we are running through the cargos.
He’s position is high enough for him to see us clearly from down below and it’s too late for us when I realized the.
“Stick to the corners,” I told Alexis as I reach the cargo near the corner so at least we are not seen by the Shinigami from his position.
Enemies popped out from above and Alexis took care of them, she will do the shooting and the punching is all mine, and it seems like that the enemies are trying to avoid me but I am still ready to throw my fist if I need to, I need to maneuver my feet more effectively on the ground and I shoved away the nervousness that I am feeling right now.
Because as Alexis told me, panic clouds judgement. So I took a deep breathe while I am still running that slightly helped clearing my mind. We continue on our tracks, Alexis shooting the enemies non-stop, without stopping and just as I expected the Shinigami is starting to shoot at us. I stopped on my tracks when I saw a bullet stopped in front of me. He is calculating our moves.
Oh, geez! I need to move much quicker if we don’t want to drop dead in this place. I remembered dad’s grief that time when we lose my brother, and that is not happening again. I will come back in one piece and I hug dad again, I know that he is extremely worried about me right now, and that motivates me more than ever.
I can feel that I am gaining speed and tried to look back and saw that Alexis is trying her best to keep up with me. That’s good. Let’s go! We will not disgrace our brothers’ death. When I looked forward again, my eyes widened as I saw two men just popped out in front of us.
What surprised me the most is that one of them is carrying an rpg, the other man with him went to his back to support his ally to not get blown away. He positioned himself and fired at us.
“Alexis look out!” I shouted before I jumped avoiding the missile and when I landed, I punched the two men as hard I could to knock them out. I looked back and saw a thick smoke covering the area.
