Chapter 4

2028 Words
“We’re entering the enemy premises,” I heard over the radio as I see them entering the building on my scope. They are also moving dummies in my sight but I know who is the enemy and the allies when it comes to battle. I saw some of his men hide the dead bodies that are completely exposed in plain sight. I advanced my vision to see if there are enemies to be taken out. I am not mistaken as I saw two dummies walking towards them. I scanned the whole area if there are other people accompanying those two. I wanted to make sure that they can’t communicate from the people inside so that my men will have an easy time for their part. It’s also sad losing my men in fights. They are the one who is risking their lives for the sake of our organization and that is why I will do my utmost to support them in the shadows. The area is clear and there are only two of them in the area, probably because they cannot communicate anymore with the dummies that I recently shot down. I aimed at the bull’s eye in the target located in their heads and I considered that pace of their movements and winds strength before I pull the trigger. In just a matter of seconds the two is down. “Two guards down up ahead, hide their bodies,” I reported on the radio besides me. “Roger that,” they cheaply replied. I saw them advance inside their base and I resume my scanning on the area, my scope can easily recognize enemy dummies because this scope is so advance that it can even detect heat signatures, oh wait. It’s not that so advance anymore because it in these days the exploitation of advance tech weapons are widespread so criminal organizations like us has easy access on these kinds of weapons, but mine this is the only one in this world. That’s why I love it so much. My scope showed a sign of detection of nearby enemies from the area and there is an arrow where it points where it detects the enemy dummies. Except for the heat signals that my allies produced in this scope, there are only one group of enemies that I can detect. “Group of enemies in the west will shoot if you are nearby to secure the bodies,” I make the radio call to Kuro’s group. “Roger,” he replied and immediately I saw his group went west. When I saw them nearby enough to the enemies I went for the shot on the enemy dummies. Two of his men rushed immediately to the dummies and hide it from plain sight. They are lowering their guard down too much that I did not expected it to be this easy as I feel like that something is wrong. Well, that works for me too, less work, less hassle. They finally reached the storage room of the weapons. “Going in,” Kuro said on the other side of the radio and they shot the lock and went in. Now my job is to prevent enemy back-up to corner them from the inside. I saw in one of the windows that the flashes of lights. The enemy must have noticed them already. My scope detected different signatures from different directions and I quickly scanned the whole are. My eyes widened as I saw how many enemies comes out from the surrounding housed of their weapon center. I was right, something did not feel right earlier, but something caught my eye. A car where dummies are escorting some dummy to that car, so I turned off that feature to see their faces. Is that Don William Smith? The ruthless leader that I had been hearing around in their territory. Regardless of that I attempted to snipe him but I was quickly startled when explosions below startled me. When I regained my balance smoke filled the area, I can’t have a clear shot from the big fish. He got off the hook, “AMBUSH!” I heard Kuro shouted at the radio, oh god I forgot about them, so I quickly navigated my rifled on their location and I saw how many goons of the Smiths are about to swarm the weapon storage. Geez! Calm. Down. Reikou. I immediately turned on the dummy feature and all of the enemies outside turned into dummies again and I switch to rapid fire. I shot the enemies one bullet at a time in the head. Reducing the numbers of the nearest enemies that are about to enter their location. “Find an alternative escape route!” I shouted at the radio. “We can’t! There are too many enemies from all over the place,” he immediately replied. I smashed the radio on the floor because of the pressure. Kuro is too precious to be dead. I guess I have no choice but to face my worst fear in life which is seeing people die in front of me. “John!” I called onto him and he turned his head to me. “Let’s go and save Kuro’s group we had been ambushed,” I told him and I immediately carried my rifle and rushed downwards the tower. I heard John’s footsteps followed behind me and I rushed to get to my car quickly. The weapon center of the Smiths is not that far from here. In foot we can reach them in time. “Going out so soon?” I heard a female voice behind us and we stopped frozen on our feet because we know who owns that voice. That annoying girl again and her lackey. “John,” I whispered his name and he determined what I meant quickly and he pulled out a gas bomb and throws it onto the floor. Our surrounding is filled with smoke that I cannot see anything. We will use that to our advantage to escape. I used the scope in my rifle to see them what they are up to. But I was shaken off when I saw one of them quickly running through the smoke. Oh god, I immediately shifted on to sprinting from running. She will catch up with me if I went on with that pace of running. Despite being a woman, she is a beast in everything. I will admit it myself that when it comes to close combat. I am no match to that woman. I didn’t look back, running away from her right now is what fills my head right now. I feel a slight fear, of being caught but I have the confidence that I will not be caught and I will make sure of it. We reached the outside and from that explosion earlier I saw the building that we are inside earlier is about to collapse. Me and John quickly gets inside the car and John is on the driver’s seat right now since I cannot drive because I am holding the rifle. The engine started just in time when I saw the crazy girl went outside too. “Speed up!” I shouted at John when I saw the woman sprinted towards us. She has the speed of a cheetah and she looks very angry. “What about Kuro?” John asked me. Oh f**k! “Take a detour,” I said to him just to shake this woman off in our trail. I felt like that I was inside of a horror movie and I can hear my thumping. That woman is truly insane. I never met someone like that so terrifying. Hold your position Kuro until we get there. I tried to find my radio in my pockets but I can’t find it. s**t, I must have left it on that tower. “John give me your radio,” I excitedly asked him. “My radio is the one that you are using,” he said while trying his best to avoid accidents in the road. Because it’s a much worst scenario. I don’t want to die yet. We drifted in every corner to lose that woman and I trust John memorizing the map that my father has given him for this mission. All we need to do now is to extract our men from that s**t hole. I looked back and I was relieved to see that woman off our trail. I immediately went back on my seat. “We lost her,” I told John and he did show any reaction from that news. He must be feeling too confident on escaping that woman. “Look out!” I shouted when I saw someone suddenly popped out in front of us. I quickly recognized the one who is in front of us. Oh god, when do you give up? Please stop. “Bump her,” I ordered John and it seems like that we have the same idea. She reacted on time and she leaped on the roof of my car. She punched it harder as she could and I felt so sorry for my car when I saw a fist mark embedded on the roof. “YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ME THIS TIME!” she shouted. “Shake her off John!” I shouted and immediately I felt like that we are inside on a roller coaster ride. The crazy woman punched the roof again creating a hole. She peeked at that hole like a killer in the meme of “here’s johnny” that I saw online. John threw a pistol at me and my hands are shaking just to hold that gun. “Rei just this once taint your eyes with blood,” he said at me and it seems like that I am not the only one pressured in this situation. “Okay, okay,” I replied and my voice is also shaking. Geez! I immediately fired the pistol on the roof but I feel like that I am a noob again when it comes to guns. Please die already, I told myself. I don’t want this to go on anymore. I don’t want to see anymore blood. Then I saw a red liquid dropping from the roof. My vision became blurry and I felt my tears stream down through my cheeks quickly. “Mom!” I shouted when I saw my mom in her death bed covered in blood because of a car accident. “Mom! PLEASE LIVE!” I shouted again when I visualized my mom again. Her eyes closed, and has an oxygen mask covering her face. “Please I don’t want to suffer anymore, please open your eyes mom!” I shouted again thrashing my arms because of extreme grief inside my chest right now. I heard that sound again in my ears, that sound when the doctors said the time of her death. “Hey!” I felt a hand on my shoulders and there I saw John. I came back into reality and I saw that our car is parked somewhere. I lost track when I saw that drip of blood. “She’s gone now,” he said calmly. “Snap out of it,” he added and I breathed calmly trying to shake myself and to calm me from that emotional trauma. “We are going to Kuro now,” he said and started the engine again. “I’m sorry,” I apologized. “The lives that exists now is the one that matter, always remember that Rei,” he reminded me and I just nodded at him. We accelerated at the greatest speed possible that my car can achieve to reach them and save them. I don’t want any lives who matters to me to be lost again.
