Chapter 54

“Sup boss,” he greeted me casually as if nothing happened. He waved at me and I walked towards him frowning showing him that I am not happy on what he did. He blew up the stealth mission, actually it cannot be called stealth mission anymore, it’s m*********r.

I know, death cannot be avoided in wars. I am well aware of that and I am not that ignorant. All I just did was ignore his greetings and I continue to frown, so he can read what I am feeling right now towards him.

“The boss is not happy dude,” I heard Troy exclaimed behind me. I looked back at him and with my serious look right now, I spooked him, he assumed that I am angry towards him.

“Pick a radio on one of the dead bodies,” I commanded him with my serious voice.

“Yes boss,” he replied and proceeds to pick one of the radios attached to one of the corpses. “Here,” he handed me the radio and I attached it on my chest. I changed channels until I find the main one so I can hear what they are talking about.

While I am observing the cameras, I listened to their conversation about extracting the package and here we learned that they are still waiting for the truck. Fortunately, for us they do not seem to be worried about this place. I scanned each camera.

“You are crazy dude,” I heard Gerick exclaimed and he seems like to just arrive just now. I ignored his reaction and I continue to study the situation, and to generate on a plan.

“Why?” he asked Gerick.

“What why? What do you mean?” he asked Anthony back. “That’s messed up,” he remarked but in a joking manner. They both laughed as if that is normal. I did not pay much attention to them.

“Quiet,” Alexis confronted the noisy conversation of the two and they became quiet quickly. Thank you for that Alexis now I can pay much attention towards the cameras.

“Boss,” Troy called me and I look at him immediately to find out why he called me.

“What is it?” I asked him and I noticed the looks worried.

“The corpse,” he said.

“What do you mean?” I asked him.

“It seems that it already alerted the others,” he answered my question while holding a small device that has a red blipping light.

“What do you mean? They are still here in the feed busy...” and there I noticed something and to my horror. “DUCK!” I said to them and all of us ducked immediately and then the enemy rained down bullets on us.

It’s a trap, the feeds are pre-recorded and it seems like that the people inside here are ready to die for their cause, of capturing us. Then the other feed came back to it’s live feed and we saw the enemy surrounding this building while pointing their gun towards us. This is why I told Anthony to not engage in combat. If only he listened to me.

This is no time in blaming others, we need to think quickly and escape this situation. Each of us crawled towards a hiding place tough enough to deflect the bullets flying towards us.

“I’m hit!” Gerick said on the radio. I grew worried.

“How worse?” I asked.

“Not that worse can still walk boss,” he said and I can notice his groaning because of pain. If he can still walk, then that’s...

“Good,” I told him. “Prepare to fire back once the assault stops,” I told my crew. “We are destroying the shipment,” I added. “Troy the explosives?” I asked him and waited for his response on the radio.

“Ready to explode boss,” he answered then that’s good we are now prepared to attack the shipment. We can’t extract the shipment in one piece anymore because we are greatly outnumbered, the only thing we can do right now is to plant the bomb and flee.

“Throw a smoke bomb,” I commanded Troy and knowing him he always carries different types of explosives with him and that includes the utilities to. Upon seeing in his profile data, he is extremely cautious and even it seems overkill to others that he is always carrying a back pack, for him its not because he is not that sure what will happen next, and that become useful now.

I heard metal bouncing around and that is Troy throwing his smoke bomb in the middle of the area.

“Now the grenade, throw the most powerful that you have,” I commanded him and then almost immediately an explosion happened as if we are thinking the same thing. Then that’s good. “Fire back team, and run,” I told them and I came out of my hiding and I started to run towards outside.

I hear footsteps behind me and I guess that is my crew following my lead, I shoot back on one of the windows hoping that I fired at someone. “Now time to go berserk,” I told myself and I pressed on the radio. “Weapons lose team,” I told them meaning that they are free to do what they wanted to do towards the enemy.

Alexis’s fear that the enemy might ambush us came true and that is thanks towards our one and only Anthony who is very eager to kill people. We can avoid this, really, we can, if Anthony did not Alerted one of the alarms, then we are still hidden from them. The confrontation will come later and what is important right now is that we work as one team.

I heard walls breaking and that must be Anthony using his immense strength catching the enemies on the other side off guard. Then explosions, that must be Troy and the other two are shooting their guns towards the enemies.

Oh, then I remembered that Gerick has been shot. Oh god, I hope he is not dead. I like to finish this mission with all of us coming back alive home.

“Prepare yourselves for the battle of your lives,” I told them because I am sure that enemy reinforcements will come trying to pin us down. “We do this as fast as possible before hundreds of them come here,” I told them. “Garrison,” I called.

“What is it?” he asked.

“Our cover has been blown, prepare the exfil at the extraction point, Plan B,” I told him and that means that he will be sending a chopper towards us directly after completing the mission, hopefully.

I finally came out of the thick smoke and I immediately look towards them with a scary look. Then they tried to point their guns at me and I felt that there are plenty of enemies behind me, pointing their guns at me so I accumulated my strength in my legs.

And when they exactly hit the trigger, I jumped as high as I could to avoid the cross fire and I targeted one of the enemies in the right and then they are shooting towards me in the sky but I effectively maneuvered in midair, to avoid the bullets.

“You dare!” I told them and I stomped the face of one of them and then we landed on the ground using his face as a skate board, then I grabbed his feet and I jumped again, this guy is dead and it may seem brutal the eyes of others, it’s killed or to be killed, there are no room for mercy anymore.

I used his body as a whip and slammed his body towards his allies launching them side by side and when I came face to face with a group of men ready to fire their guns towards me, I used this dismantled body that I am holding right now as a shield, while I am charging at them at full speed to tackle them.

I felt that I collided with them with such force and I grabbed my pistol and shoot the others standing still pointing their guns at me, I am not that good at aiming so the other few remained alive, because of misfire. Well, whatever, then I came charging at them engaging in close combat 4 vs 1, I punched of them on their helmets breaking their visor blinding them because the shards of glasses stab their eyes. He screamed in pain and I immediately used his body as a shield again when one of them fired their gun towards me, after that I swung the body and threw it at him and both of them are pinned on the wall where they landed, rendering them both unconscious.

I fired my pistol towards one enemy but I found out that I am out of ammo. I saw the enemy face and the hope of victory is starting to glow in his face, so I grabbed my dagger and charged at him evading his bullets, and stabbed him, erasing victory in his face.

I catch my breath and look around me and saw how bloody mess that I left in my trai- Ouch, a bullet grazed my face. I immediately hide myself from the open area and saw that there is no one in the area anymore, then that means that this is a doing of a very skilled sniper.

Then I realized something so I quickly grabbed my radio to warn my team about his existence in this battle field and this will be a hard one for us.

“Team be wary the Shinigami is on the area, avoid open areas if you don’t want to die with a bullet in your heads,” I told them. I warned them about him.
