“Garrison we have vision on the package,” I said while we observe the package being transferred slowly by a big crane from the big ship.
“Copy,” he replied. “Scanning the area for hostile units,” he added and the radar loads with red dots, thanks to Garrison’s work. This is a very useful information for us and I began to signal my men where they should go, as we are commencing the operation.
“You’re with me Alexis,” I said to her to provide me cover because I am the one that will take the riskiest path towards the package. The goal is to extract the package undetected or destroy it if detected. Both are risky and hard, and either way will be in favor with us.
“I am always right behind you,” Alexis replied to me and that relieved me because I know that there is someone that always had my back.
We continue to walk towards the shipment and we are constantly scanning our surroundings for enemies that might blow our cover. Holding my suppressed gun tightly so I can shoot on such situation. Eliminating them without hiding their body, will buy us some time to continue.
“Are you really sure about this?” Alexis asked me and that confused me, because the question is really out of the blue. We planned and went on with our plan but she asked me like we did nothing at all.
“What do you mean?” I asked back.
“I mean, I said that there is something wrong,” she reminded me of her suspicions about the numbers of individuals handling this very important package within their organization. “There is something bad that will happen,” she showcased her affections with me for the first time but she is starting to give me chills, as if this personality has been activated because she is sure that there is something that will happen to us surely.
Yes, I am aware that she has a point but planting doubt inside my head? That will just bother me throughout the mission and will only cloud my judgement. That is not highly ideal for this situation right now. The risks are high.
I don’t want to be gunned to death because I am overthinking. I want to die fighting at least. No, I will not die here. Why would I think that? Sheesh. I don’t want to die. Who wants to die anyway?
Well, I came back to my senses and we hid on the corner, I observed the area and saw that there are so many patrols walking around the area. There are multiple groups and that decreased our options to infiltrate the area.
I looked around to find the other three that I have ordered to take another angle so the infiltration will go smoothly as I can imagine. With multiple angles, means that we have different view on the area. We have comms so the intel and the improvised plan will be created.
We don’t know what will be their plan in defending the area, we don’t know it all. We are only humans. That’s why we need to adapt and we are born to adapt in any situation possible, and I am sure that my team is born ready for this.
“Any info?” I asked them through my radio and I released the button waiting for their response.
“Negative here,” Gerick answered first on the radio and no matter there are still two more.
“Also heavily guarded here,” Troy said, that’s two out of three.
“What about you Anthony?” I asked on the radio because he is the only one left right now that I am waiting for response.
“Wait,” he responded immediately and it seems that there is still hope to remain in the shadows. If there is no hope to remain in the shadows then that will leave us no choice, but to attack them directly. The risks are still unknown and we are already this deep in their territory. What choice do we have? So, waiting for him to finish scanning the area is the last bastion of hope.
“I can infiltrate the control room,” he said and I sighed that’s worst than I expected. I observed Anthony’s behavior earlier and I noticed that he is been itching for a fight. I know what he is capable of but the enemies’ capabilities are still unknown to us that we cannot risk blowing our cover to the enemy.
“I find it funny that you are too problematic about these,” Alexis said to me.
“What is funny with that?” I asked her. “That dude will punch any guy that he came across into, I did a profile check before picking them. I know the habits of each one of them and I know what are their flaws. That is why I am worried,” I explained to Alexis.
“Chill, just remind him already,” she said to me and I grabbed the radio and pressed the button to remind him.
“Remember, just stay in the shadow and don’t engage in combat,” I said to Anthony.
“I already knocked out the guards,” he replied immediately in a calm manner.
“W- what?” I said in disbelief.
“Still undetected,” he said, as if everything is alright. I sighed again, I guess we have no other choice but to continue with the mission.
“Copy, remain in your position and do not engage in combat, please,” this time I begged him to hide and the others heard our conversation so there is no need for me to explain this to them. “Guys make your way to Anthony’s position,” I told them.
“Hey Anthony don’t anger boss,” Gerick jokingly told him and followed by a soft chuckle.
“Focus,” I said to the radio again because if he continues, he is the one that will anger me.
“Sorry boss,” he apologized to me. Then I heard Alexis softly chuckling behind me. She is acting really strange right now. I mean, this is the first time that I heard her chuckling.
We retreat from our position and we started to make our way towards Anthony’s current location, inside the control room where he is currently waiting for us. Back in the shadows again we came back to the place, where we separated earlier.
Now we started to make our way where Anthony went earlier and that will lead us to the control room. Despite being easily detected we have no choice but to make our way on top of the cargo.
I don’t have any idea that he came across dead end, that means that he really dared going through this without informing me, and now we are the ones problematic about this. We are left with no choice but to climb this area to get to him.
There are so many enemies here than on ground, that will make us more exposed to the enemies above the cargos. Unlike below, above is just plain sight and there are no places for us to hide if ever we encounter enemies.
We will be forced to kill them. I accumulated my strength in my legs and jumped towards the ledge of this cargo, I grabbed it and used my strength to pull myself up above. After successfully pulling myself up above the cargo, I offered my hand towards Alexis and she grabbed it, so I pulled her up.
The other two are still not here but we are not waiting for them any longer so we will continue without them. I looked at my radar and there are still red dots but there are few of them here. Strange. But not time to worry more anymore. I need to move on.
“Hey,” Alexis called me and I look at her and saw her pointing at something. “Look,” she said and her jaws were dropped. So, I immediately looked to the direction where she is currently staring and... now I understand why she looks so shocked.
There are so many corpses already lying down now, and this is probably the works of Anthony and this time I totally face palmed myself and I shook my head continuously.
“This guy is really crazy,” she remarked. There is no need to mention the obvious Alexis.
“That is why I told you to run a profile check before the mission start,” I said to her. She ignored me that time when I said it, like telling me why would she profile check her allies that she can trust, and this is why Alexis, this is why I told you to check them before working with them.
“What’s important is that we are still undetected,” she told me.
“Not for long,” I remarked. “They will find out soon, that’s why we need to move fast,” I told her and I realized that there is no need to be angry towards him. We ran towards the control room but silently to avoid alerting the enemy.
We soon reached the control room and we saw two patrols that is looking away from them.
They prepared themselves for a jump execution towards the two. “One, two, three,” they jumped behind them while holding a knife. I slashed its neck, and I catch its falling body. I drag its body towards a dark corner while leaving a blood trail.
After all of that, we went straight towards the control room where Anthony is waiting for us. What shock us, is how big is the control room is and how many corpses are already lying down on the floor. We stare at them and look at each other.
We both know that we should go on. We walked carefully, on our way towards his location. We came across on more corpses and we now realize how a psychopath he is. Technically, he still sticks in the mission but he is using the mission as an excuse to take lives and fulfill his murderous desires. Even they are my enemies I am starting to feel sorry for them. Such unprecedented deaths. Well, this is in our favor meaning that less manpower for the enemy.
“Hey,” I called to Anthony who is continuously surveilling the area, he looks back to us while his whole body is covered in blood.
