Chapter 7

“Let’s go,” Alexis invited me after we finished our lunch, she offered her hand and I did not hesitate to take it to assist me. Earlier, after I consoled him, I invited Alexis to have lunch to reduce the stress that I am experiencing and to forget that sweet daughter act that I did earlier. That was a disgrace for myself and I am so thankful that no one is there seeing me. I hope to God that the last thing I want to happen is people seeing me like that. Don’t get me wrong, I love my dad but it’s too ironic with my title being the berserker and I don’t want people seeing me weak.

“What do you think dad will do?” I asked Alexis while we are walking towards our mansion. The distance between my favorite café and the mansion is just walking distance and I don’t want to waste fuel just to reach a nearby location, besides this is a great exercise for my body.

“Maybe planning for a revenge attack, I guess,” she guessed and I thought about while scratching my chin with one of my fingers. I looked at the clear blue sky while the sun rays are hitting my white skin.

“That’s too soon don’t you think?” I stated my opinion. I wondered if dad will really plan an attack in our meeting later. That has a high probability to happen.

“Well, if we don’t expect it, how come the enemies will expect that we will attack that soon,” she defended her statement and she got a valid point and I thought of an argument that will make our conversation longer. This is just our guess after all, no one knows what is going on inside dad’s head, even I, her own daughter. If only I have the ability to read the minds of people.

“Our men are still recovering from that attack, and that’s a bit too overkill if we engage them in a fight, right?” I argued while scratching my head because I was unsure of that.

“We have men that is not currently in that location, that time,” she started, she does not intend to let me win in this argument does she. “That means that we have spare soldiers to use as pawns when your dad plans that attack,” she said and I got shivers by some terms that she used such as pawns. She has really no sympathy to people, no wonder why dad liked her. She is the type to kill people without hesitating and trust me, people like that are the last thing that you want to go up against. They will literally chase you to the deepest part of hell.

“Alright, alright, I surrender,” I raised both my hands to stop this argument since she is starting to give me weird vibes. I understand that this is her nature and I’ve been with her for years. I don’t know what happened to her in the past, and when I ask about it, she avoids the question. So, I don’t bring up anything related to her past, as a sign of respecting her.

We reached the giant front gates of our house where a big letter S is embedded in its steel bars. The guard opened the gate for us and we greeted each other good afternoon except for Alexis who just walks straight. I catch up to her and we went inside the mansion. Some of our maids are busy cleaning things around while some of our men are standing on the second floor where the meeting room is located.

We went upstairs and one of the guards guarding the door opened the door for us. We are greeted by my smiling father and some of his business partners, cause that’s what he calls his associates. “Oh, my sweetie plum is here,” he greeted me with his baby talk and my cheeks turned red as tomatoes immediately. I wanted to run away from that moment but this meeting is too important and I saw a glimpse of my sister Shane holding her laughter and I felt annoyed just by seeing it.

“There he is,” Alexis remarked.

“Good afternoon dad,” I greeted him back trying my best to hold my composure and my anxiety went straight high up, and when I saw his partners smiling at me, it made felt like that I want to explode from this very moment. Why are like this dad?

“Have a seat, it’s just about time sugar pie,” he said while calling me with pet names. Please stop dad! “A mysterious person leaked some information to me about the Yoshidas just recently,” he announced and we are surprised. I am guessing that the phone call earlier is the broker, that dad talked to earlier, I wished that I didn’t leave his room earlier to hear their conversation. “Probably one of the traitors inside the Yoshidas, poor them,” he said chuckling. “Soon, weapons shipment from the TechComm will be arriving our country and it’s for the Yoshidas. It’s by the end of the month and I was told that this will be a big shipment for our enemies,” he announced.

“Wait,” one of his partners cuts him off. “How can you trust that person? Are you sure that the information is true?” he asked constantly.

“Fret not my men,” he said happily. “This person led us to many victories in our earlier battles thanks to the information that they gave us,” he revealed that he has a long-time connection with the person behind our war with him. “The shipment will arrive at GS National Dock by this end of June and we will exact our revenge and will crush them for what have they done to us today,” he said and he raised his hands. Many of his partners that he is talking to right now also raised their fists shouting. While the two of us, just watched them.

“Told ya,” Alexis whispered to my ear. Technically she is right that dad will plan an attack towards the Yoshidas. Maybe I will know what the Shinigami’s real identity is and upon his defeat I will remove his mask. Also, I wear glasses and a face mask to avoid identity confirmation from the enemy. It’s ironic isn’t it. How advance our technology is but both sides don’t have any information on their best men except for the leaders, it is because both sides prioritized information leakage more than anything else. The traitors of the organization just like what they did to Yoshidas are the only one that can leak information to us.

I wonder why are they not leaking the identity of the Shinigami to us. They can mover freely in our district because we don’t have any idea who he really is.  I will be found out soon.

“Since my sweet daughter gave her dad some sweet affection earlier,” WHY DAD?! My face turned red again. When will the embarrassment is going to stop? I just want to disappear right now. I heard some of them laugh at dad’s remark. “I will let her be in charge of the mission,” I wanted to feel happy hearing that news from my dad but the feeling of shame overpowered my chest. “Good day everyone, meeting adjourned,” he said his goodbyes and stands up and he leaves the room first while escorted by his own body guards.

“Your dad loves you so much eh,” one of our Australian associates uttered smiling, but I just looked at him as if I was threatening his life. “Okay, okay, I do not mean harm mate,” he raised his hands, to show that he surrenders.

The others laughed towards him and I stand up because I can’t take it anymore, the shame. “Let’s go Alexis,” I ordered her and she followed me as I slammed open the door frightening the guards. I did not mean that to happen.

“Aren’t you happy that you get to lead the mission?” she asked my while I stomp my way out of the mansion. I need some fresh air to calm me down from this anger I felt.

“I am happy,” I said angrily.

“That does not sound so happy to me,” she uttered.

“I just wanted to escape that embarrassment,” I said and we reached the outside of our house.

“Just a small price to pay Miss Nova,” she remarked.

“For you but for me it is a huge deal,” I said enraged towards her comment and I went inside the swing. She became quiet and did not utter a single word anymore. I just need to have my own peace time right now. I pushed the swing to make myself calm. I just wanted to blow away the thoughts that I had inside me.

Setting the embarrassment aside, I am pretty happy that I got the mission. I don’t have enough information on what shall I do to the shipment that they talked about earlier.

Meh, I’m pretty sure that one of dad’s men will deliver the information to us and I will just wait to get the information I need.

Just you wait, Shinigami because we will face each other soon and I will solve the lingering mysteries behind you and who you really are. It’s like killing two birds in just one throw of stone. Exacting my dad’s revenge just as he wishes and defeating my sworn enemy. I will feel so satisfied after that.

 “Miss Nova,” Alexis called to me and I look at her and saw my sister standing behind her. I got annoyed just by seeing that face full of make-up, I really don’t know why men are heels over her. “She wants to talk with you,” she said before walking out. What does she want this time? I stopped the swing and she walks towards me and she sat on the swing besides me.

“Hi there my little sister,” she greeted me. These moments are rare since we sisters are not close to each other since mom left us years ago.

“What do you want?” I asked her and telling her to piss off at the same time. We are not in the same terms and never will be since that day, I will never forget what she has done to me.
