Audrey watched Merrick leave, not sure if she should be relieved or annoyed that Jordan had interrupted them.
Jordan moved close to her, keeping his voice low. “What did you think you were doing? He’s not human.”
“You seemed to be getting pretty friendly with some of the Fae at the tavern.”
“Yeah, that was until I saw how most of them treated the humans with them. They treat them like slaves. One of them wanted to know who my master was so he could see if he was willing to sell me. We don’t belong here, Aude.”
“They’re not all the same.” She refused to believe Merrick would treat a human like that. Look how he’d been with her. Although he had asked her to be his protégé. That certainly wouldn’t suit her.
