As Tom advanced towards the fallen figures of King and Grace, their once valiant spirits now diminished, a cold shiver ran down Eva's spine. Overwhelmed by a wave of anguish, she stumbled backward, her sobs echoing through the air. The weight of her grief and fear settled upon her shoulders, threatening to crush her spirit entirely.
In that heart-wrenching moment, Eva's eyes fixated on her parents, their bodies bearing the marks of a fierce battle. They had fought bravely, but now their strength waned, and defeat was imminent. Tears streamed down Eva's face, blurring her vision, as she beheld the unimaginable sight unfolding before her.
"You dont need to end things like this," King said while trying to protect his mate hovering his hands over her.
"Oh. I do - i do," Tom said, laughing perniciously, destruction written all over his face. His mind was already made up and all his face showed was a killer instinct.
Eva cried more and more as she saw his face and drew conclusions of his actions from it. She couldnt do anything which shows how less she was in the strength.
Tom's actions plunged the scene into a chilling darkness. Grace found herself torn from king's side by Tom's deliberate movement. King pleaded with Tom in a desperate attempt to spare Grace from harm. With pleading eyes and aching whimpers, King's sorrow was palpable.
However, Tom's response was swift and merciless. Ignoring King's desperate pleas, he callously raised a weapon and aimed it towards Grace. As the blade descended slowly, each passing second seemed to stretch into an eternity, magnifying the pain and horror of the moment. Grace dropped down dead.
Eva gasped on seeing this, trying her best to control her tears. King stood up slowly, his eyes shooting his red alpha Colour.
Tom laughed at him as King attacked randomly, tears streaming down his face. The fight went on, Tom dogding every attack effortlessly while attacking King making sure he sustain an injury in every attack.
Tom fought him and at the end pinned him down to floor in a position where King faced his daugther. His eyes meets his daugthers as he shook his head disappointed at himself. With a second glance, he looked at his dead mate. Tom drove the knife into him twisting it slowly increase the pace steadily until was dead.
Tom stood up blood spilled on his body - blood of Eva's parents. Eva looked at him crying, she couldnt do anything. He picked her up forcefully and she struggled but it was no use.
Eva awoke from a fitful sleep, her heart racing, tears streaming down her face. The nightmare she had just experienced was a vivid reminder of the pain she had endured when her parents passed away. She sat up abruptly, gasping for breath, her body trembling with fear and sadness.
Dave woke up at the sound of her tears, stirred beside her. Sensing her distress, he immediately pulled her into a comforting embrace. "Eva, what's wrong? You're safe now. It was just a dream," he whispered softly, his voice filled with concern.
Eva clung to him, finding solace in his presence. Through ragged breaths, she managed to recount the harrowing details of her nightmare—the loss of her parents, the overwhelming sense of helplessness. Dave listened intently, his arms tightening around her, offering her the warmth and security she desperately needed.
"I wish I could have saved them," Eva murmured between sobs. "I feel so powerless, so weak."
Dave's voice was filled with gentle reassurance as he stroked her hair. "Eva, you are strong, and you're not alone. We all face moments of vulnerability, but it doesn't define us. You have survived and grown, and your strength lies in your resilience and the love you carry within you."
As his words sank in, Eva felt a flicker of hope ignite within her. She wiped away her tears and nodded, finding strength in Dave's unwavering belief in her. Dave tried getting her back to sleep which he did successfully.
Later that day, Eva found herself in the company of Sarah and Emily. Together, they dedicated their time to training the young pack members in defence skills. Sarah tended to the injured, skillfully tending to their wounds with her healing powers and offering words of encouragement, while Emily focused on imparting her fighting expertise.
Eva watched the young pack members' determination and unwavering spirit as they trained, their movements fueled by the desire to protect and defend. She couldn't help but feel a pang of longing, wishing she had possessed such strength when her parents were in danger. If only she had been better equipped, she believed she could have done something to change their fate.
Unbeknownst to Eva, Emily noticed her friend's distant gaze. Sensing Eva's inner troubles. Emily made a decision. Instead of calling out to her or offering words of comfort, she chose a different approach—an unexpected attack.
In that split second, Eva's instincts kicked in. Her body moved with precision and agility, allowing her to dodge Emily's surprise assault effortlessly. In the process, however, her defensive manoeuvre inadvertently resulted in Emily sustaining an injury.
A collective gasp filled the air as the other pack members watched the unexpected clash unfold. Eva's eyes widened in shock and horror as she realised the consequences of her actions. She scanned the faces around her, taking in the mix of concern, confusion, and disbelief.
Without hesitation, Sarah rushed to Emily's side, swiftly tending to her injuries. Emily, though confused and in pain, knew that Eva hadn't acted out of malice. Deep down, she understood that Eva had acted on instinct, driven by a deep-seated need to protect and defend.
After Emily's injuries were tended to, the group gathered, sitting in a circle, their faces etched with concern. Eva took a deep breath, summoning the courage to explain herself.
"I'm so sorry, Emily," she began, her voice laced with remorse. "I never meant to hurt you. My mind was consumed by my nightmare, and I was lost in thoughts of defending myself and protecting my parents. It was never my intention to harm you."
Emily, though nursing her wounds, nodded with understanding. "Eva, I know your struggles, and I know the weight of the pain you carry. This was just an unfortunate circumstance. I can see that it wasn't your fault."
Sarah chimed in, her voice gentle yet firm. "We've all been through challenging times, Eva. We know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by our past experiences. What matters now is that we support each other, learn from our mistakes, and grow together as a pack."
Eva's eyes welled up with tears again, but this time, they were tears of relief and gratitude. She reached out to Emily, her voice filled with sincerity. "Thank you, Emily, Sarah. Your understanding means the world to me. I promise I will be more mindful and work on channelling my strength in a more controlled way."
Emily nodded, her gaze softening. "I believe in you, Eva. You've already come so far, and this setback doesn't define you. We're here to support you every step of the way."
As the group embraced, the tension slowly dissolved, replaced by a renewed sense of unity and compassion. The incident served as a catalyst for open conversations and shared vulnerability within the pack. They realised that they were not just a group of individuals but a family, bound by loyalty and love.
After Sarah tended to Emily's injuries, the group gathered in a quiet corner of the training area. Eva's heart felt heavy with remorse, and she knew she needed to address the situation with utmost sincerity.
Sitting cross-legged on the ground, Eva took a deep breath to steady herself. "I want to apologise again, Emily," she began, her voice filled with genuine remorse. "I cannot express enough how sorry I am for injuring you. It was never my intention, and I deeply regret the pain I caused."
Emily's gaze softened, her hand reaching out to Eva's in a gesture of forgiveness. "Eva, I know you didn't mean to harm me. I understand the weight of your emotions, and I can see the struggle you've been facing. We all make mistakes, and it's how we handle them that truly matters."
Eva nodded, grateful for Emily's understanding. "Thank you for seeing beyond my actions and understanding the turmoil within me. I've been carrying this guilt and feeling powerless for far too long. But that's not an excuse for what happened. I want you to know that I'm committed to learning from this and becoming a better pack member."
Sarah interjected, her voice gentle but firm. "Eva, we know the pain you carry, and we've seen you grow through it. But growth also means acknowledging our mistakes and taking responsibility. We trust that you will use this experience as a catalyst for positive change."
Eva cleaned the tears that fell of her eyes as she felt the weight of their words. "You're right, Sarah. I will carry this lesson with me, reminding myself of the consequences of acting impulsively. I want to be someone who can protect and support others without causing harm."
Emily reached out, enveloping Eva in a warm embrace. "We believe in you, Eva. We've seen your courage and resilience time and time again. Your heart is in the right place, and with each passing day, you'll grow stronger both in your abilities and in your understanding of yourself."
