Chapter 11Lina The waiter brought bread along with the plate of assorted meats and things Emery had requested and Lina helped herself to a slice. Her stomach churned uneasily but she forced herself to sit quietly, taking dainty bites of the too soft and very bland bread, as she watched Emery eat with more gusto than was considered polite for a young woman. Mrs. Langstuhl had insisted upon propriety at her dinner table and the girls had, for the most part, complied.
