KELLAN POV After she threw up, I want to make sure she was okay by taking her to the ER to get more test done, but she declined it. She didn't explain why, just that it wasn't needed. I didn't want to push her too much. I had to thread lightly with her. She doesn't feel the mate bond, so I was going to have to do this the human way. And this was my way in. I was going to learn everything she likes and dislikes and use it to woo her. I know it is going to take time, but I have to do it. I have to get her to fall in love with me no matter how long it takes. It would make me revealing I'm a werewolf bomb easier. It could ultimately help me and her to not be afraid of me or cause her to run from me. I never want her to be afraid of me ever. That would just break my heart. I was currently in the small kitchen of her apartment getting something for her. I put the kettle on the stove with some water to heat up. I then went to searching through the kitchen for the things I needed. One by one, I started pulling cupboards open looking for some tea. My mom always said that it helped with nausea. Plus, it was probably the only thing I could do without burning down the apartment. I don't know how to cook to save my life, even if it depends on it. I didn't have the luxury of enough time to learn. But I did have a solution for that. I quickly send a link to an omega to grab some take out and deliver it here. Once the tea was made, I walked back to the living room to give it to her. But as soon as I came into view I saw that Crystal was curled up on the couch. Her mouth was slightly parted, and her breathing was even. Indicating that she had fallen asleep. I put the tea down and took the seat across from her. At that moment, I realized that she was nothing like me. She was delicate and got hurt easily. But I'm selfish and wasn't going to let her go now that I had her. I knew I was going to have to put new safety measures in place to keep her safe. And it didn't matter. As long as she was safe, I would be happy to do it. I tore my eyes away from her to look around her apartment. It was small to me, or maybe it was the fact I was so used to things back home being huge. Either way, it only had the bear minimal of furniture in it with a few personal items for decoration. Did they have money problems or something? I knew this building was owned by the Black company. They usually pay their employees really well. But I had to know that for sure. I took my phone out and asked my guy to do a bit of digging on both Crystal and her mom. He replied to me almost instantly that he was on it and to expect him later. I just have to trust him and that he will have something by then. I then had a moment of peace, and it had me thinking. She seemed to be so self-reliant that she would refuse help even when hurt. The thought of her suffering even for a second made me lose my cool. For a few seconds there, my wolf managed to slip out and was in control. I know he didn't mean to scare her, but it was too close of a call. I don't need her to be afraid of me this early on. The omega linked me, letting me know she was at the door with the food I asked for. I jumped to my feet, afraid she might knock and wake Crystal. I open the door and took the food from her before thanking her. I took everything inside and placed the containers of food on the coffee table. Once she was awake she could see what there was and choose what she liked. "Crystal. Wake up. I got you some food. Come on babe, you got to eat something." I nudged her shoulder slightly, being careful to not shake her too much and cause her harm. But it worked as she slowly started stirring. I stood by side of her head until I saw her beautiful golden eyes open. It took her a minute to fully come to slowly sit up right. Once she was up right she eyed the food containers on the table before looking up at me. "Where did you get all this food from?" She questions me. I handed her some bread and chicken soup before answering. “I had it delivered. I don't know how to cook, and I don't want to end up giving you food poisoning or worse, burn down your kitchen." I said, adding the last part quickly when she frowned. "Thank you. But you shouldn’t have. I would have just grabbed something from the fridge." She says, staring at the food. "Nonsense. They always say chicken soup is the best medicine, and I'm not one to argue with them about that. It will help, and it will be easy on the stomach, so it is a win-win for me." I said. She seems hesitant at first but takes a spoonful. She moans before a genuine smile grace her lips. The sweet sound leaving her lips makes me shift quickly to hide the reaction she caused in my pants. I don't want her seeing this and freaking out. But that smile on her face is what I will live for. That smile will bring a smile to my face any day. She is my light in this dark world and I intend to keep her in it. I barely know her, but she has every bit of my heart already. “Do you want to try some of this? I think you will like it?” I asked. She seemed confused about what I meant before seeing the box of food on the table. She peaks into the box before asking. “That looks yummy. What is it exactly?” I smiled at her before going over to her, picking the box up and taking it up to my nose, taking in the aroma it holds. “It is the best shrimp masala in all of Hemet. It is my go to take out order and trust me it is the best you ever will have. Just try it, you will taste nothing this good ever again.“ I smiled at her before taking a forkful of everything and bringing it to her mouth. She eyed me suspiciously like she was trying to figure out if I was for real or something. But when she made her mind up she slowly leaned in to take the bite. I watched as she slowly chewed it like she was expecting it to taste horrible. I held my breath hoping that she would like it. Her face lit up as the taste hit her. “This is absolutely amazing. It is the best thing I ever had, that is for sure.” she exclaimed. I was so glad about it that I end up smiling just as brightly as she was. This was good, very good. I could maybe use this to my advantage. “This place makes the best dishes in town, but it is a hidden gem. Not many people know about this place. If you like, I will take you there sometime once you are better?” I asked her, hoping she would say yes.
