CHAPTER 2

1159 Words
KELLAN POV Monday I don’t understand why I have to go to school. It’s not like I need it. I’m Alpha to the Blood Cresset Moon Pack, for crying out loud. My career is already set in stone as I’m the owner of all the companies my father had and his father before him had. I learned everything I needed from my father from a young age. Just like he did with my grandfather. It didn't hinder his leadership or his sense of business. That being said, if I needed to learn more, then why did my father hand me the title? But nothing I said could sway them. The elders just won’t have it any other way, so I have to go in order to keep my title. Guess it has to do with me being seen as another 17 year old by the public eye and to keep up the appearance that I’m a human just like them. Nothing I can do about that now. But there is one up side to going to school. I might get the chance to meet my mate this way. Many of my pack have met their mates this way. Thinking about my mate makes me slightly disappointed. I have yet to meet my beautiful Luna. The other half of my soul will complete me. We tend to meet or mates as soon as we shift, at the age of 16. I have to admit that I am jealous of seeing the mated couple’s around me and the affection they show towards each other. The love that shines in their eyes is something I want so desperately. It sometimes feels like I might not have been blessed with a mate from the Moon Goddess. I don't even know what I could have done to upset her that much. But deep down in my heart I knew she was out there. I just have to find her. Shacking my head, I snapped my thoughts away and focused on the present. I had to dress quickly if I was gonna make it to school and not miss second period completely. I could have gone as I was. It's just I was dressed in a suit and it would have drawn too much attention. So I swapped it for something that would fit in with my surroundings. Jeans, a t-shirt and a leather jacket and I was ready to go. The drive to school is only a 10min drive if you keep to the speed limited but I’m running late. So I was driving at a speed that made the scenery outside the car window appear all blurry and out of focus. It's a good thing I wasn't human. Because if it weren't for my enhanced eyesight, I would have crashed the car a long time ago. It was a good thing that I got the sports addition of the buggati chirion. I made it to school in under 10 minutes with the extra speed it provided. I parked my car in my spot before cutting off the engine. I took my bag from the passenger seat and made my way into school. I headed to the office first to get a pass because I was late for Maths and the teacher is a human that will send me to detention if I don’t have a pass and an excuse. She is an old hack that is so strict about everything revolving around her class. I had a reason for being late, but I couldn't exactly give that to her. We had some rogue problems that I had to deal with. The trespassing and sightings only started a few weeks ago. They are becoming a big problem in my pack and not only my pack but also the neighbouring packs that have reached out towards me. It is like they are looking for something. I just don't know what it is yet. These rogues are surely president little buggers. I'll give them that. No matter how many times we chase them out of our land, they just keep coming back. We decided to try and capture one for questioning. Maybe then we can get to the bottom of things. The only problem was that it was a complete and utter fail this morning. We are going to have to develop a new plan of attack. The secretary, Lindsay, is waiting with a pass in her hand. She is one of my pack members that works at the school for convenience in cases like this. It just makes things easier with humans also coming here. So I just linked her beforehand and asked for a pass to be ready for me to pick up when I arrived. After taking the pass, I take hasty steps to the class room but my wolf, Luca, is pacing in my head the closer I get to the class. I shook it off and made my way to class. As soon as I step into class, all eyes turn to me. I scan the room and my pack slightly bows their heads in respect, but they do so discreetly not to let the humans get wind of what is going on. With a slight head nod from me, they went back to what they were doing before. I had a quick glance around the room for some reason. It is as if driven out of some urge inside me, an animal instinct, my eyes fall onto a girl sitting in the back corner of the class. She has her head down in her books. I almost didn't see her. It looked like she was hiding or trying not to be seen. But I noticed her without a problem. I saw her and her presence was alluring to me for some reason. I have never seen her here before. She must be a new student. I take a whiff of air and I’m hit with the smell of cherries and cinnamon. Where is that smell coming from? Why have I never smelled that before? Or did I smell it and choose to ignore it? It didn't matter because this was absolutely mouth-watering and I couldn't ever forget that. The whole time, I stood routed in the same spot. My eyes were staring at her, willing her to look up so I could see her eyes. Sadly, that didn't happen. I was brought back to my surroundings by a voice speaking to me. It took me a hot second to focus and I learned it was the teacher. “Yes, Kellan. Do you have something for me? I would like to get back to teaching the class and don’t have time to waste.” Ms. Jefins says in her over-the-top annoyed tone of voice. I think me standing here holding up her class has hit a nerve. And she was about to lose her head as I still hadn't answered her.
