CHAPTER 10

SHRANAIA’S POV The following morning as I awoke early, I could hear the birds outside singing. We don’t have school today, and because of what I was reading last night, I slept in late. I scowled when I noticed a sunflower on my side table after standing up. I’m not sure how to feel, but I honestly guess I know where it’s coming from. I know his presence, and this flower was my new favorite, except for the white roses that I’ve been scared of. I simply smiled before taking the flower and giving it a sniff. I thought to myself, “He probably visited me because it’s been a few weeks since we last saw each other.” He’s giving me good mood vibes this morning. I took a deep breath and looked up at the sky, I saw the blue sky and its purity. “Shranaia?” mommy called me, and I looked at her. “Good morning,” I greeted then she smiled. She came to me with the food, then she gave it to me. “Looks like you're awake now?” she said, and I smiled. “A little bit,” I answered, then I held the flower. “And what is the reason?” mommy asked, then I looked at the flower I was holding. “I have a sunflower,” I said, and I showed her the flower. Mom smiled, I ate, and we spoke afterward. We decided to head to the grocery store right away because our fridge was running low on supplies after I finished eating. Even before the current one goes out, mommy needs to get a replacement because she doesn't want the fridge to be empty. I said to her that I want to find the cheese at the store while we were touring the area. I was in the grocery section while Mommy was in the meat section. Brother Eliot was with a girl, and they seemed to be close while I was looking. I smiled since he was talking to someone while laughing after what had transpired. I am aware that in the past he did not express his stress, but he did so now because he had spoken to someone about it. He seemed to be feeling better now. “Infernes with brother Eliot’s taste. She’s beautiful... tall and looks like a model... something seems to be missing,” I said, then I was surprised because they stopped. I instantly hid, then I pretended to make a purchase while moving to another place. I grabbed my phone, made a call to Jenny, and she picked up right away. After scanning the area, I turned to look at the end of the corridor, where brother Eliot might see me. The timing of my mother's call and my arrival was perfect. “Hello?” “What?” she answered me. “Aren’t you going to greet me at least?” I said, then she sighed. “Hello? So what’s up now?” she said, then I laughed. “I saw brother Eliot with someone,” I said, still excited. “Who?” she asks. “I don’t know,” I answered. “A woman?” “Tsk. Duh? Yeah.” “Is she... tall?” I nodded and then answered. “Yes!” “Don’t be too excited, Shranaia, she’s our cousin,” she said, then the smile on my lips disappeared because of what I heard. Suddenly, I was confused by what Jenny said, then I looked at where brother Eliot was. I just hung it up, then mommy was surprised and asked why my mood has changed. I just said nothing, then we left. After we bought the things we needed to buy, we first ate at a restaurant outside so that when we got home, mommy wouldn't cook anymore. Daddy will come home late at night, and as far as I know, mommy will cook in the afternoon so that it will still be warm when daddy arrives. “Your birthday is coming, so what’s your plan?” mommy ask and I was thinking of it. I don’t intend for my birthday to be pompous but I think daddy wants us to prepare. “It’s up to you, mom,” I said. “Your dad said that he wanted to have a small celebration. Just me and your friends,” she said, then I nodded. “That also what I want, Mom,” I said and she touch my face. I’m not sure why, but when she touched it, I had an odd grief. The touch of my mother and my body made me feel like a heavy burden. She smiled at me, and when both of our orders came, I simply stared at her in awe, feeling as if I’d be apart from her for a very long time and never see her again. I simply ate while sighing at my thoughts. Maybe I’m simply thinking and imagining things in my head. We chose to return home when we were done. I was shocked to see so many people when we returned home, especially when I saw Vixen, Ron, and Ran. I asked, “W-going what’s on? What are they doing here?” and then I turned to face them all. Vixen said, “Shranaia,” my name. “Is there anything I didn’t know here? Do you have anything you would want to clarify? What kind of craziness is this?” I put one question after another. Mommy began by saying, “You know, Shranaia… it is because…” but she struggled to convey what she was about to say. “How could I say or explain this…” I look into all of them before turning to stare into Vixen’s eyes. When he walked over to me, I almost turned away because of his perplexing glance in my direction. He grasped my hand when he approached me, and then I let out a loud gasp as he kissed it. “What the heck…” “You are coming with me, Shranaia. We’re going home,” he said, then he grabbed my hand, which I tried to take away, but he was strong, so I couldn't. I responded irritatedly, “I don’t understand you. What are you talking about going home? This is my home.” “If you remain here, it will be too difficult. The fact that we are not your true parents is another thing,” Mommy stated, which just made me feel more puzzled. I said with annoyance, “Mommy?” and then fully removed my hand from Vixen “Nothing you say makes sense to me, nor do I comprehend what you are saying. Could you explain first? It’s annoying!” Mommy made me sit, then she gave me water, and daddy sat next to me holding my hand. Vixen, Ran, and Ron were just sitting in front of us. I looked at them one by one, I could feel the nervousness in their chest, and I knew they couldn't say what they wanted to say properly. “The truth is, Shranaia, something happened before your daddy left you with me,” began mommy. “This is because of what happened to your pack, the reason for Vixen to save you from, Fuego,” she added. The bad things that happened came back to my memory, and I tried to shake them off just so as not to cause me fear. "N-no..." I said, then I looked into mommy's eyes. “I will not go back there. I don't want to be in there," I begged mommy, and she cried too. “I am aware, Shranaia. But you won’t be here without the help of the Hallow Mane Pack; you won’t be rescued by that incident,” my father said, and I grasped my head in response. “I-I don’t care. I love it here, I will stay here!” I said firmly and pointed to what I wanted. “Don’t you want to avenge what happened to your parents, Shranaia?” Vixen asked me. I looked at him because of that, and it seemed like there was something in me to do what he said. For a long time, I forgot what happened before because I didn’t want to go back to the past that I had forgotten for a long time. The past that I tried to escape because I was afraid. “Shranaia. We can help you fight and learn more about your abilities as a wolf,” said Ron, and I looked at him. "Wolf..." I said, then I looked at the twins, and looked at my hands. I want to learn what else I can and learn things about wolves. But I’m afraid of many things that I don’t understand myself why. It’s like there’s something else inside of me that I don’t know and can’t study yet. I remembered what mom told me before the Mystic Packs attacked us. That thing has been bothering me almost every night because I still don’t understand anything. I took a deep breath and then said that I would think about it first, but until my birthday comes, I will not go with them. I walked upstairs to my room so I could relax once they clarified what I had meant. I attempted to adjust my appearance while laying on the bed by looking at my hand, eyes, and hand again. Only when I’m upset or unable to control myself does it occur, especially when the moon is full. I went to Jenny’s place the next day, but brother Eliot wasn’t there. Jenny came up as soon as she saw me, and I gave her a bear embrace. She seemed astonished, and I could see that she was frowning as a result of what I had done. “What’s up? Did anything happen that I’m not aware of?” she asked as I pulled away from her hug. “I didn’t know how to tell you what happened today, Jenny, but I’m terribly sad,” I said before she sat me down. “Give me a second, and I’ll fetch some popcorn,” she added, and I chuckled. She enjoys munching popcorn while listening to me talk. She returned after a while, carrying a hotcake with juice. I informed her I was leaving and revealed my true identity. To be honest, it was difficult for her to trust me since wolves are simply urban legends that no one believes because what they know is just fiction. "Too much is happening in the world, and that thing is too hard to believe, but because I'm your friend and I know you're not lying, I'll believe you," she said, and then I laughed. "By the time I decide to go with Vixen, won't you miss me?" I asked, then she snorted. “I will probably miss you. I don't know what I'll do when you're not there because you know how hard it is to be alone while your friend is in another place," she said, then I laughed. “I will miss you too, Jenny.” “Don’t come with the will you stay here at least?” she said with a gentle face. “Honestly, I don’t want to go, but that’s where I belong, Jenny. The thing that obscures me is that I need to know what abilities I still have.” “Is that the reason why that happened to us because Dianna found out your secret?” she asked in disbelief. She covered her lips and clutched her head as I nodded to her. It was just a mistake; I have no idea how it happened, but I do know that Dianna was not aware of it and that, up until this point, she has been keeping it a secret from herself. I'm intrigued by her because of that thing. “But why is she hiding who you are?” Jenny asked. “I don’t know either,” I answered. “Couldn’t you have something to do with what Sam is talking about, and who is that Deacon I’m talking about?” she said. I thought for a moment about what she said, then I stood up, I remembered that name, and my finger snapped when I remembered. “That’s right... Deacon is a prince of vampires, and as far as I can remember, mom told me about him,” I said, then she looked at me. “Whoah? Does it mean that Deacon she mentioned was a vampire?” Jenny said, wondering, and I nodded. “Didn’t you hear anything else besides that?” I asked, then he thought and shook her head. “No more,” she answered. After Jenny and I had a conversation about something, we decided to visit the park for a possible afternoon walk. When we arrived at the park, I spotted a young kid there. I went over to her and asked if she was lost. Jenny came up to me and asked who I was talking to. I looked in front of me and was about to point to the kid, but she was gone, “The kid…” I said, she frowned at me and looked at what I pointed to. “Oh, I know you’re a wolf, not a paranormal girl,” she said, then I stood up and looked around. “I was talking to a kid... she was just in front of me earlier,” I said, then she laughed. “I’m telling the truth, Jenny, I’m not joking, I’ll punch you if you couldn’t believe me,” I said, annoyed, then she stopped laughing. “I was just kidding you know,” she said, then I sighed.
