"How are my two fav. people in this world doing today?" Came the query from Old Soldier.
"Two?" she acted ignorant. "Really? Who and who, might they be?" She asked Jovially with giggles.
"I see someone is in a playful mood today." He responded suggestively
"Well! I can't help but be in a better mood these past few days."
" Mmgh? Interesting! And what is the reason behind this uplifted spirit lately?" He question inquisitively.
"Wanna try a guess?" She inquired.
"Naa! Not in the slightest to go through that torture. Just give it to me raw ... please love." He pleaded.
"Uuugh! I see someone is being naughty as usual." Jennifer teased
"No! Baby girl, don't get me wrong, this is serious me. Stop dragging your feet my queen."
"You sure! You can't take a tiny guess?" She checked once again to see if he'd change his mind.
" No! Hon. No! He replied this time frustrated.
"It's all thanks to Togui! Daaaaa!? I see why you couldn't stand such a sweet old man." she continued with the old wise man's appraisal. "Slow poke!" cutting the head of the snake she just killed with a name call. Old soldier was now agitated.
"What?" He asked incredulously devastated. "Did I hear you right? You called me slow witted a while ago. Jenn what happened to you?" He asked agonizingly. "What has that old inconsiderate man done this time around?" He asked cluelessly dejected. I knew he would be up to no good in the end and I see he succeeded in turning you too against me." He complained bitterly.
"That's where you got it all wrong baby. You shouldn't be going about accusing people wrongly. You know?" She defended Togui.
"Couldn't he have chosen a less meaningful person to me than you to corrupt?" He asked pitifully pained.
"Sincerely speaking, you should give that man a little bit of credit of good scores. He did all good and wonderful as a matter of fact." she compounded.
"Really? Tell me something I don't know? Hehehe!" he lets out a dramatic laugh. "It seems you knew him before me?"
"That's not what I mean."
"Then? What did you mean? You talk like you know him more than I do, just because you met him for? a few what .. a few hours? or more?" He interrogated almost offensively cheekily.
Although, old soldier was warming up to Togui, he still had uncalled for insecurities in reference to the man. For the love of his life to be polishing the Old wise man white to him, ignited a fear in him. He had made some not too good assumptions about Togui, before deciding to let it be because, it was baseless. What if he made the wrong decision? He questioned his own judgement.
"It might just be a figment of my crazy imagination." He thought before Jennifer's voice broke through his mental introspection.
"That is not the case here! "she barked back. In her condition, being easily raved up is a non apologetic face. "Oho! Wait!" she said Pausing. "Do I sense jealousy in the air?" She sniffs the atmosphere to his hearing and embarrassment. Making old soldier calm down instantly then terriers to deny the truth of his woman's observation. Forgetting a woman intuition is as sharp as the finest swords which could slice through thick layers of lies.
"What? Pfft. Me Jealous? what is there to be envious of about the old man?" He asked in an awkward high pitch sounding trying to deny the already obvious. Even as he pumped all strength in, like what he'd do on one of their makeshift combat obstacle course to delude her? He was aware he could not evade her. No woman has, was or could be able to make him feel this uncomfortable with the truth than Jennifer. These were the particular moments he felt she was too good at reading him for her own good. He was not even present, yet she caught him red handed. His conviction of the fact that she knew him inside/out! couldn't have been any more established than this. And the open truth he was battling a lost cause in conjunction with her condition made him decide to surrender.
"You tell me! Don't you dare be silly right now!" She Put it to him without extra coat. "Anyways, that not what's important. Honey! Don't you notice anything?" She insisted.
"That is still telling me to guess." He replied weary.
"Fine! Fine!! Fine!!! Haven't you noticed my energy level is back to normal? I mean, my speech? You didn't notice is at an extra speed? No difficulty in my breathing?" What have you been looking out for all this while." escaped her lips before she could hold her words." She was overwhelmed with his lack of attention. "The most painful, of all is you even missed the excitement in my voice!" she said sadly pettily then remembered he was however, able to catch on to the old man's praises of merit eventually, she channelled that emotion into anger. Just what she needed to vent. She had, had enough of his childish insecurities towards Togui. It was high time someone talked sanity into him before it was late and nothing could be done. Knowing him fully well? She needed facts and figures to hold him bybthe crutch with. To hit that emotional bulls eye? She was going to have to tell on herself but if that is what it took to open his eyes widely? She was ever willing to do it.
"Yet you could not miss the diligent man's merits. To add to that, you were even jealous of him! What is wrong with you? Exactly! How did Togui ruin your life? From what you! told me ... he did nothing to you!" She said out of breath. "You misjudged him! Yet he held no grudge against you! instead he looked out for you !" She pressed on. "
