CHAPTER 50

“Everyone, we have to remain intact at all times. Don't know this land and we haven't explored this before, so we have to be careful and alert at all times.” Blanche said as they kept on running. “Sister, I know this isn't the time for this, but where's Nunna?” Dean grunted as they hop from the rock to fallen wood. “You came back without her, when you said you would go back and help her.” Blanche could only clench her jaw, bit the insides of her cheek, before telling, “We should talk about it later. For now, we have to focus on running.” Simply replied, but even with that short sentence, Dean can conclude something but decided to obey her instruction since this is for the best. Even though they are not in the vicinity of the orphanage anymore and the mayor herself is already dead, some of her moves are still following them. “There they are! Quick! follow them before they finally get away!” “Follow them! Advance!” Men are chasing after the screeched. Resulting for Blanche to click her tongue from frustration. “They are getting close!” Dean shouted. “Sh*t! I have to do something!” She internally cried. “Luxuria, are you still up to it?” “Bloody yeah! But is your body up to it?” the god said. This statement makes her think that he's right. He can easily fight all of them, but her body wouldn't be able to handle anymore damage aside from all she has sustained. By her silence Luxuria can tell that she knows he is right. “That’s what I thought so too.” “Let’s just think that this is just training. Let's get away from them, focus on the road. And keep moving!” Mildred shouted to them and they kept on running. Blanche doesn't know if the light of the moon is either a blessing since they can easily see the surroundings or a curse because the men can easily see them. “Oi! Move you cowards! Move your feet and get the children! Before they get away!” “Boss, do you think we should let them go? I mean we don’t know this place.” “Are you even using your head?! If we let these children get away I am more than sure that the secret of our mayor will be revealed!” “But the mayor is already dead, so technically we have nothing to do with this.” The boss is getting irritated, “Yes, do you think I don’t know that?! That’s why we have to put her secrets in a coffin with her!” “But…” “No more words, bastard! Or I will be the one to kill you all!” “Yes, sir!” And all of them proceeded to capture them. She's out of idea how she will handle all of this, but to her surprise the children made a move, the three eldest nod at each other and they went to give a glance to the others at the back before Stephen made a move. He raised his hand and in that instant the children turned into three major groups. She's baffled by the thought that she doesn't know where to go until a hand pulls her and says, “Here…” So Stephen pulled her sleeve, a gesture to follow his group. “Just stay close to me, sister.” He whispered. To which the nun only replied with a firm nod. The three leaders of each squad made their way to the other three cardinal directions in an attempt to baffle the enemies, “What is this kid doing? We shouldn’t go far away from each other in a place where we don't even know.” “Stephen…” Blanche called his name in a soft tone. “What is it, sister?” the child replied in the same manner. “Are you sure this is a good idea to split up with from the rest?” she asked. “We can’t be too sure on this land.” Stephen only looked from her shoulder, giving her a curt smirk before looking back on the road, “Who told you that we are not familiar with this place?” His suggestive question made Blanche’s eyes shoot wide open, “So, you’re telling me…” she trailed. “Yes, sister. We have already explored this before, and we have already made trails so we know where we are heading to.” Dean said with a smug smirk. “And we already know what place here we should avoid.” Pand responded with the same grin. “And we have put some traps already,” Zig and Mor both gave each other a high-five. “Those traps are man-made, made without any magic, so if ever, they will not be able to sense it,” Stephen said so. “I know this is not as powerful and will not be fatal, but at least this will buy us some time.” “These children are serious about everything,” Blanche muttered inside her head, “When did you do all of this?” “We’ve done it before you even told us that you knew all of this.” Stephen said. “We knew this would happen, so we take the liberty to do things, such as making traps, trails, and maps.” Blanche was moved from the gravity of their resolve to make a move for this issue. And so, she trusts all of them. “Okay, what’s in this land?” she asked to at least have an overview “This land is not as safe as we thought,” that simple statement from Stephen brought dread in her, but refuse to say anything because she trusts them that they can make it through, “This land is filled with marks of huge animals, meaning this is a sanctuary of beasts larger than bears.” He spoke. “s**t…” Blanche muttered louder than what she had expected. “Yeah, we are really in a s**t hole.” Stephen muttered. “But don’t worry, sister. We got it all under control. Probably.” “I see–” “Sister, jump, there’s a small dent.” Stephen warned her, but everything went so fast that she didn't have the time to react, resulting in her to fall on her face, luckily the child behind her back wasn’t hurt at all, but from the impact, this awakened the child.
