CHAPTER 54

They went to pursue their journey together without knowing what they will go through but still they continue without knowing what tomorrow held. Just after they wake up they immediately set out to go towards the place where Blanche said they needed to be. "What's that place you were talking about sister?" Ladi and Choi ask with a small bounce on their steps. "What does it look like?" They excitedly ask. Blanche could only let out a small chortle from their genuine and innocent reactions. "You see guys, I don't really have any idea what that place looks like but I assure you there we will all be safe." "How can you be so sure?" "I'm sure because that's what Nunna said." She simply replied. "I know nothing about that certain place but if it's what my mother said then I will surely trust it with all my heart." There was a new fire that was lit in their hearts from what she had said but they couldn't rejoice because just as they were about to go loud they heard a series of hisses beneath their feet. "Did you hear that?" Lino asked as he held his hand to signal them to stop. "There's something lurking around us." They all went silent and scan the whole area for any trace of any beast but they couldn't find anything. "Are you sure you heard something lino?" Stephen asks, Blanche looks at him, waiting for a response. But all they have received is him cupping both of his ears and closing his eyes as if he's trying to hear something. Mildred does the same, they stand like that for a few seconds until both of their eyes snapped wide open, "Beneath!" Both of them instantly yelled. They were about to run away from where they're standing when suddenly the ground beneath them opened and devoured all of them at once; it happened so fast that even Blanche couldn't even manage to react. "Everyone–" she shouted but then she couldn't do anything in the middle of the air but let them for under the dark hole, when they finally hit the ground all day felt soft and quite warm thick vines. "Where are we?" "Is everyone all right?" "Yes we are all right!" "Everyone check your partners!" "No one's missing!" "Are there any wounded?" "No one, just a few scratches!" "Good…" "Where do you think we are?" Dean asks no one in particular. "I don't know but I think we shouldn't be talking this loud," Mildred commented as she dusted herself while she helped other children to stand up. And once again they heard another series of hisses, and now that they got a closer experience they can tell that those hisses are coming from snakes. And their conclusions were not wrong because the root began to move on its own. "Snakes!" They all shouted and they began to run away but soon enough they were surrounded by a bunch of angry snakes. "What are we going to do? There's no place for us to go!" Branch called out her weapon and easily sliced the head of the snakes but soon after she sliced off the heads that she had severed immediately grew its own tail, and the tail grew back ahead. In the end she just added the numbers of the snake in the cave. "Sister, they are just multiplying!" Blanche wasn't able to respond to anything because she's too busy slicing off the heads of the snakes. And the only thing she can do for now is to make a path where they can walk till they manage to climb up above. Every slice she did only worsen their status quo and the snakes are getting angrier. “Luxuria!” She called him with pure authority to which the god only responded with a chuckle. “I like the way you call my name, come on, ring it more.” “Do something about this!” she snarled at him as she tried to keep everything at bay. “What do you think of me? a convenience? go on and figure it out, i will not spoon feed you every time.” He responded. “All you have is to think straight, okay? like you always do?” “How can I think straight at this moment!” “I don’t know, you guess. But you can only see your reflection when the water is calm.” “What’s with the mirror?” she asked but just like that, she couldn't hear him again. “That arse!” But still she tried to calm herself. Thinking that it would be a great way to have clear thoughts. But even though she tried many times, she can't and will never calm her nerves in the middle of these raging snakes that are continuously multiplying as she tries to pry them away. “Oh, these bitches!” She growled and slammed her staff on the ground, resulting for all those beasts to fly away from the impact. This gives her time to calm her nerves by inhaling through your nose and exhaling into her mouth. She took that time as the opportunity to articulate her thoughts. And while she's at it The snakes wouldn't bother to wait for her reaction, so they attacked her all at once. Baring their venomous fangs. “Calm down. Take it easy. Calm down.” She repeated over and over trying to tell herself that this is not where she will meet her end. “Think of yourself as a mirror. You will never see your true inner self, we blurry water of the pond. I don’t know what the f*ck that means but at least I will try, right? That's the best thing.” But the snakes are getting closer and closer, but she hasn't found her peace of mind resulting in the children getting worried. The children began to scream her name. However, despite all of this she didn't let the noise get into her. She proceeded to imagine herself in the middle of a peaceful, calm water. With no one by her side and just herself and Luxuria. While her subconscious is there, she can see how the snakes move towards her as if they are in slow motion. She can clearly see all of them at once, the furious eyes and sharp fangs of snakes, and the scared orbs of the children. And in that instant, the glowing spider web underneath them appears, and all the snakes that are in this circle stopped moving. “Telarana…” She spoke in such a gentle and slow manner. While her circle is activated, no snakes in the circle can move. This gives her time to speak to them, “We should get out of here now.” She stated bravely. “We have to find a way to get up there.” she then pointed to the hole up above them. “But what should we do? There's no rope. I mean there is but we can’t tie it anywhere.” Mildred said as she looked up and saw that they can’t have any leverage where they can tie their makeshift rope made of linen.
