Sin of Lust by Swapie Achilles CHAPTER XI OCTOBER   Blanche happily hums as she dries plates using a clean cloth, helping her sisters with other chores as the rest of them are playing outside, “Leron, Leron, my love, Papaya sprouts above. Take up, take up a basket, oh! To hold the fruit, my love, upon reaching the top, oh! The branch broke. What bad luck. I'll find someone else.” The older twin grins at each other as they heard the song of the little one, thus they halt from washing the dishes and told her, “You can go on ahead, Blanche. We’ll go there after this.” Micah grinned at her. “But…” “Don’t worry, super twins are here!” they yelled and crosses their arms. “We got everything under control.” “Okay!” Blanche beamed and put the plate on the rack before running outside.   The others are playing the same kite they always use to play with, though it’s just a combination of old newspaper and stick it’s still can fly high. There are also times where it got blown away by the wind and got wreck by the rain, but that doesn’t stop them from making another one. Blanche saw that there’s a gathering at the center of the playground and it looks one of her older brothers is telling them some things. So, she got nearer to Laila who have the same age as her, “Hi Laila! Can I play with you?” she asked with her usual cheery, soft, tiny voice. “Yeah sure, but we’re not going to fly a kite today.” Laila replied. “Then what are you going to do?” she asked. “We’re going to play game of tag.” She beamed. “Okay, I’ll join too!” Blanche threw her fist on the air. “Okay!”  And they both listen to their brother who’s making the mechanics of the game.   As the game of tag began to the forest, Mary jane is doing her usual routine with the laundry. Marben was the “it” of the game, he’s the oldest now since he’s nine years old. And he took the initiative to be the it of the game for his younger siblings can fully enjoy it. But he needs to get all of the players for him to win. Blanche along with Laila went deeper to the mini forest adjacent to the open playground to get away from him. Marben close his eyes to let the younger ones to get away from him without him noticing where they would go, so the play can last longer. Now that his siblings are all getting away from each other he mumbled, “Alright, let the hunting begin.” He smirks.   Blanche look around, searching for her older brother, “Have you seen him?” she asked Laila who’s also darting her head around. “I don’t think he’s going after us.” She replied in hush tone. Until they both felt a hand tap their shoulders which made them stiff under the touch, “Tag… you’re ‘it’.” Marben smiled at them. “Now, the two of you are the ‘it’. Goodluck.” And then he finally runs off. The both of them whines and Laila sulk, “He did come after us~” “Don’t worry about it, well get him next time.” She cheered her up.   “Oi! Blanche, Laila!” Melody shouted from afar and they can see her small figure waving in a distant. “It’s them!” Blanche chimes, and then she waves back, “Melody! Micah!” “Hey, we’ve come to join what’s game you’re playing.” Micah asked them. Laila and Blanche look at each other before looking back to them. Blanche close her eyes tight and said, “I’m sorry!” she screeched before she lunges forwards and touches Melody’s torso. “Tag! You’re ‘it’!” “What?!” Melody hollered in disbelief, “who’s the ‘it’ before you?” “It was Marben.” Laila replied. “Oh, that freak of nature!” Melody grits her teeth with a huge grin that indicates she’s going to make him pay for it by tagging him once again. “I’m coming for you…” Meanwhile, Micah runs away from her twin sister, and yelled, “Melody is the it! and she’s coming for Marben!” “Hey! Don’t tell them my plan!” Melody runs after her. “Let’s go, we won’t be tag for a while.” Blanche pulled Laila on her hand and started to run deeper to the forest.   They are in the middle of the game where the tension between the ‘it’ and players are getting thicker when the bell rang, signaling that it’s time for them to return to the convent. Most of them whines as they knew the day has ended for them and it’s time to go back. “Oh, man. I’ve never got the chance to be an it.” Rod grumble under his breath, kicking pebbles around. “Then you can be ‘it’, next time we play.” Marben taps his shoulder before running away back to the house, “Tag you’re it!” “What?! You’re the it again?!” Rod shouted and runs after him, “but anyways I get to be an it. Thanks!”   They went to take a shower where the older siblings from both genders gave the younger ones bath and as always they get to have some fun while in it. After they eat, they went to their quarters but before they get to their beds there’s still a mini conference going on in the room of younger girls. “Did you enjoy the day?” Melody asked them in cheerful yet shush tone, afraid that she’ll get the attention of the nuns and wake the others up. Kids nods their head vigorously and their eyes held excitement for tomorrow. “So, tomorrow, we’ll play again!” Blanche cheers. “Yes, yes, you’ll play again tomorrow, but for now take a rest.” A familiar voice interrupted them from the door ways. “Crap, it’s sister Mary Jane!” Melody gasped, “retreat! The mission is failed! Retreat!” she whispered yelled and runs down from the forth they made using a chair wrapped with blanket. The kids as well runs to their beds and tuck themselves in as if they’re taking cover from a hideous beast who enters their premises. “We’ll see each other again, comrades!” Melody chimed before she runs outside. “But for now, it is a goodbye!” Mary Jane on the other hand laughs on their dramatic exit, stepping aside for the twins. “Okay, good night, everyone. But don’t worry you’ll see your captain again tomorrow.” She greeted them with a smile and walk in to get the lamp that they forget to blow off. “Good night sister Mary Jane.” They greeted her back.   The twins went to their own quarters as quite as possible. “We didn’t get the chance,” Melody sighed as she climbs up on her sister’s bed. “I’m sure we’ll get it soon.” Micah cheers her up not bother to share her bed. “We don’t have to rush, right?” “Yes, sister Mary Jane said to take our time,” the older sibling once again sighed, “but I just can’t get rest whenever imagine Hannie…” she grimaced as her vivid imagination took place. “What are going to happen to the others- to us, if we don’t get adopted soon? We can’t get away since Daleon will find us anywhere we go.” Micah pulled the blanket over their heads to muffle their whispers. “But if we get his necklace, we don’t have anything to be afraid of, we can fight him is he tries to lay a hand on us. But, that with him, we can’t do anything but not to get his attention.” Melody prompted. “Yeah, you have a point, the only thing that makes sister Novelyn scared to him is the cross of Luxuria, and that weapon…” Micah trailed, “I don’t know what I should think of it, but it looks like it doesn’t belong to him.” “Doesn’t belong to him? What do you mean?”  Melody asked, frowning her brows in curiosity and concentration. “I don’t know, maybe it’s just my imagination. Let’s just sleep.” Micah replied to her sister before pivoting around so her back is facing her sister. But the stubborn twin doesn’t let her sleep as long as she doesn’t know what she’s talking about thus, she jumps on her bed and pounce her, whisper yelling on her ears, “Tell me!” she shouted in a such manner, “I will not let you in peace if you don’t tell me!” “What-! Get off already!” Micah replied with the same manner, “you’ll wake them up!” she pushed her away from her face resulting for them to get in to a small wrestling and the sheets made noises that wakes one of their roommates. “Hey guys, if you don’t want to sleep yet feel free to spend those remaining energy of yours outside.” Karen said in a threatening manner. “And if you woke up anyone beside me from your useless sparring, I’ll tell Sister Marga about this little incident. Got that?” She asked in a more of threatening way and her sentence made them answer in between shivers, “Yes, but please not Sister Marga, just sister May Jane or sister Gregoria.” “No, I will not tell anyone, except to sister Marga.” She replied, with the same tone.   A lively morning for them as usual, taking breakfast and doing their chores before going to play for the whole day, the usual routine for them. They don’t read books nor write, because the church and the orphanage doesn’t provide that. But it was all going to change, since Melody, Blanche and Micah are willing to learn, thus May Jane is willing to help them. “Where’s the twinnies?” Rod asked as they wait for their siblings to gather around, “I haven’t seen them since they went to help sister Tinkah to wash the dishes.” “Now that you mentioned that, I haven’t seen Blanche as well, they’re usually together.” Marben agreed to him. “Laila, have you seen Blanche?” he asked the kid sitting on the grass and playing with her hair. “No, I didn’t-” “Hey everyone!” a loud voice of Melody interrupted them. “Oh, speak of the devil” Rod grins, “there are they.” “What took you so long?” Rod asked them as he threw his hand behind his head lazily. “Oh, I’m sorry. We can’t’ play with you guys, but here’s good news.” Micah beamed. “What is it?” Marben queries. “We convince sister Mary Jane to make a teach us how to read and write,” Melody answers him. “Oh?” the two boys’ eyes became wide as saucer. “Is that true?” “Yes! That’s why we can’t play with you guys, but maybe later.” The older twin said. “So, who wants to join-!” “Can I come too?” Marben asked, with a small hopeful smile on his face. “Sure! Tell everyone first and let those who want to learn come and those who wants to play will stay here. It’s not mandatory you know.” She chirped. “Okay, I’ll tell them.” Rod smiled and started to shout loud to gain their attention, “every one! Sister Mary will teach us how to read and write! Who wants to join?” Everyone looks at him, “For real?” asked Laila. “Yes, for real!” Marben replied. “I want!” Blanche excitedly raise her hand, “I’m going too!” Laila then raise her hand too. And everyone starts to tell that they want to learn how to read and write, but most of the youngest like Benzel and Caspire, didn’t like the idea of not able to play. “But we don’t want to study, we want to play. But we don’t have anyone to play with.” Caspire hangs his head low. “You don’t have to join us, you know.” Blanche said to her little brothers, “and besides I’m sure this will not take a whole day, maybe just a few hours.” She smiled. “And, sister Mary Jane can teach us to draw too!” And the two kids’ frowns turn into a wide grin, “Drawing?! Okay, we will join too!” And just like that they went to study.
