Chapter 2: Second time

850 Words
It was an ordinary boring Monday morning when I saw her again. Apparently, she was some rich heiress who had moved here from Seoul. Her dad was the CEO of a big company and the owner of various luxurious hotels all over Korea. This snippet of information I got a few days ago from one of the two gossip hungry women in my life-My mother. So anyways, I knew that she was now staying in Daegu (somewhere way far from my ordinary neighborhood though of course). Anyways, what I didn't know was the fact that she was a student of Daegu High School for Girls, which was in fact just across the road from the basketball court where me and my friends played basketball. I had gone there with a bunch of friends to play before school started for the day, like we did every day. After music and photograpghy, my hobby was (and still is when I get time) playing basketball. I love to play basketball.  We were just doing some layups when my gaze accidentally fell on the car that had screeched to a halt across the road, in front of the school gates. It was the same black colored shiny Mercedes from that day. The girl who I had seen that day sticking her head out from the window stepped out from the backseat. She was wearing the school uniform and had a grey case; I think it was a violin case; strapped to her shoulder along with her bag. 'Won't that be too heavy for her?' I remember that thought suddenly pop up in my mind. I brushed it off, after all I was a stranger to her and I was starting to feel like a creep who was getting way too obsessed with a mere girl. Since that day, her thoughts had flooded my mind- Who was she? What's her name? What music was she listening to? I wanted to get to know her, to talk to her. And this was certainly a first- I didn't interact or socialize much with anyone; lest of all girls. And, I had never been this intrigued by a girl before. "Wow that's the latest Mercedes model!" exclaimed a boy from our group. I turned my attention back to the guys around me who were all now gazing at the car with pure excitement. One could even see a few drooling. I rolled my eyes. "Guys, see that girl? I think she's new. I haven't seen her before. She's pretty though." Said John Lee with a smirk, one of the seniors and known flirt. He used to hang around near the girl's school in his free time and was known for being a total douche. I felt a sudden flare of annoyance towards him. "Leave it John, her dad practically owns half of Korea." Said someone. I guess news of her moving here and about her being an heiress had already spread. It had been a week since I saw her that day after all. As I said, news in Daegu spread fast. It wasn't just my friends who were blatantly staring at her and gossiping, I could see all the other fellow Daegu High girls doing just that as she stood in front of the school gates, surveying her surroundings. And they weren't being subtle about it. Even standing in the basketball court, I could already see them eyeing her and whispering stuff. She still had a grin on her face. I remember feeling sympathy towards her- the new girl. She adjusted the straps on her shoulder and started walking inside the school gates with a bounce in her step. 'Was she always like this- cheerful and bubbly?' I learnt that day that she was clumsy as well. Just as she stepped inside the school gates, she tripped and almost fell to the ground. 'Just how did she manage to trip on a flat surface?' I thought; half amused and half in disbelief at her clumsiness. When I said that she 'almost' fell to the ground, I meant that a girl rushed to her quickly and grabbed her elbow. I mentally thanked her and her quick reflexes. The bubbly girl did as well. I saw her bow gratefully and bestow a huge smile on her helper. "Hey Yoongi! What world are you lost in?" one of my friends placed a hand on my shoulder and shifted my attention from the girl. I looked around and saw that all of my friends and fellow players had started doing layups again. I could still see a few including John look at her from time to time though. It made me a bit irritated, I must admit. "We're starting the game soon. We only have a couple of minutes before school starts." My friend reminded me and I checked my watch and nodded. With one last glance at the back of the girl, who I could barely see because she was way too far now, I turned back and stretched my hands above my head to warm up for the game.
