Chapter 20: Unexpected Guest

Rahul's POV

After picking-up Halea we drive for fifteen minutes and arrive home. My parents were there waiting along with my younger brother and sister. 

"I know you have met them during my birthday but today is a little different, this is my Mom, Jiana and her husband David. And these two cuties are Daniel and Jazmine," Rahul said as he introduced the family that he grew up with.

"Mom, Dad and you two, this is Halea, my girlfriend," 

"Hello, Mr and Mrs?" she forgot their last name and looked at Rahul. She knows Rahul is Taraka but since David is not his father then

"dela Cruz, hija, but just call us Mom and Dad just like Rahul does," David and Jiana said.

"It was nice meeting you Mom and Dad," and she gave them a hug while the two little ones are waiting for her to acknowledge them. "This is for you, my Mom and I made it for this occasion," she said and hand in the creme custard.

"Oh, how thoughtful of you," Jiana said  

"You're the daughter of Doctor Arthur, right?" David asked

"Yes, sir,"

"Ah, don't call me Sir, just Dad or David would do," David said

She bent down to meet the two young ones.

"Hello, Daniel and Jazmine! How should I call you? Are Danny and Jaz, okay? "

"Hi, Halea," they said in unison and kissed her in the cheeks, Jaz already hugged her while Daniel wanted to do the same but Jaz pushed him.

"She's going to be my big sister, you can play with Rahul and I'll be playing her," Jazmine said holding Halea

We all laugh at her, but Halea hugged them both.

"Don't worry we will find a game where we can all play," she said

"Halea, you look so pretty," Daniel whispered

"Thank you, Danny. You look so handsome too,"

"How about me?"

"You're like a princess with your long braided hair,"

And she giggles at her and holds her hands

"Let's go inside and eat first," Mrs dela Cruz said

I hold her other hands and guided her inside the house.

"How old are you're brother and sisters?" she whispered to me

"They are both six years old and fraternal twins,"

"Who's the oldest?"

"Jazmine came first and she's the dominant one between them," 

When we reach the dining hall I pulled out a chair for her which is next to me. We have a round dining table so the arrangement is not difficult. Arnold was preparing the table when we arrive.

"Hi, Halea!" Arnold greeted her

"Oh, hi, Arnold!"

When we were all seated, Daniel says grace. Halea watches him and Jaz closely, I can see her amazement in the two since Jaz sort of reminding Dany of what to say. 

Halea's POV

The twins were so cute while saying grace, they were helping each other until it was completed. Rahul handed me some bread, then the pasta and the chicken sauce.

"You should try the chicken, that's Rahul's favourite," Jiana said

"It smells delicious," and I looked at Rahul who is now indulging his food.

We have all consumed an ample amount of food when David talked.

"So Halea, tell us something about yourself,"

I swallowed my food and answered him, "well, I'm in high school in Mrs Simien's class. But after this term, I will be in grade 10. I used to play archery and arnis in my former school but they don't have it here so I've joined the music club instead. I play the piano but on the beginners level," I said.

"How did the two of you meet?" Jiana asked

"Oh, our first meeting was at Mr Roberts house,"

"Afterwards we've been meeting each other on a regular basis since we both walk towards school. We see each other in the morning and afternoon," Rahul answered the rest for me.

"Rahul, you better take good care of Halea. Both of you should finish school first and enjoy all sorts of things. Don't take the relationship so much at this young age, you both will still have to find your passion and discover what life has to offer," David said while cutting his vegetables.

"Yes, Dad. We were just enjoying each others company and labelling our selves. So no other boy could sneak around her," and then he laughed and winked at me. The naughty Rahul is starting to show before he used to be silent and a snob.  

 "That's good, have you discussed your future plan with Halea?"

"Yes, that's why we decided to try to make our relationship official," he said which is true.

There were a few more interrogations, including some silly questions from Arnold. After eating lunch, we sat in their garden area and had some tea while the kids play their little golf set with Arnold.

Jiana talks about her garden and then we ended up with how she and David met. They were like young lovers telling their stories teasing each other. We were laughing at how Jiana ran away from David after they got married. Apparently, Jiana doesn't know that they were getting married and thought that David was just bluffing when he brought her to his friend who was a mayor to get married. He marries her in the church after they fixed their confusion.

We were in the middle of a conversation when we heard a car driving in.

"Are you expecting someone?" Jiana asked David

"No, I cancelled my appointments today to meet with Halea," he said. And after a few minutes, the maid came in with their female guest no other than, Victoria.

"Oh, Victoria," David and Juliana stand up at the sight of her. And we all followed them to greet Victoria's arrival. 

"Hi Aunty, Hi Uncle," she said greeting them first with a kiss on the cheek and embrace. "Hi, Rahul and Halea, I didn't know you guys were here. Hi Arnold and Kids!" she said. She seemed to be in a good mood today.

"What brought you here  hija," David asks

"Oh, my Mom asked me to give aunty this," she handed her a basket of beauty regimens, "She was excited to give it to you, it arrived from Japan this morning,"

"Oh yes, I remember I asked her to also order for me. That was like last week only and this is already here," Jiana said in awe.

"Let me know if you needed any help on the usage of the products and I will help you with it," 

"Oh, that's so sweet Victoria,"

She then glanced at me and Rahul who are now sharing chairs, Rahul seating on the armrest of my chair while Victoria seats at his chair earlier.

"I heard the news about the two of you. So it was true, seeing you both here," Victoria asked with a smile in her face. I was not able to read her emotions, I remember the first meeting on how she claims Rahul to be her future husband.

"Yes, Veronica. It's true," Rahul said and he leaned on me and placed his hands at the backrest of my chair.
