It all started when my fiancé Wayne got me a job at his billionaire uncle’s oil company as a receptionist. I needed that job because I needed to pay off my student loan and pay my mother’s hospital bill as she was diagnosed with bone cancer, but the salary was not enough to cover all my expenses.

Wayne’s uncle was extremely nice to me and told me to get comfortable around him and ask him anything whenever I needed something from him.

That was my biggest mistake! I shouldn’t have done that because he was my boss and, overall, he was my fiancé’s uncle.

He knew my financial problems, and he used them to get through me. I got to my weakest point and had a one-night stand with him, and my salary got better.

I slept with him once, and it never happened again, as he left the country to take care of his other company overseas, but he obviously didn’t leave me in peace. He left me with these words;

“I am going to come back to claim what’s mine.”

WEDDING DAY: "I CAN'T DO THIS..."
CASSANDRA WILLIAMS It all started when my fiancé Wayne got me a job at his billionaire uncle’s oil company as a receptionist. I slept with him once, and it never happened again, as he left the country to take care of his other company overseas, but he obviously didn’t leave me in peace. He left me with these words; “I am going to come back to claim what’s mine.” I know what he meant. Since he was the first one to smash it, it belongs to him now. He told me so when he was sweating on top of me, giving me all the pleasure. *** *Yawn* Waking up another day in Brooklyn, New York, and I am very much looking forward to this beautiful sunny day! Gosh, I can’t believe how much my heart is beating right now as I think about that moment. I shouldn’t feel this way, especially not today, but I can’t help it because I felt something different unleashing inside of me that night – something not even Wayne has ever managed to bring out of me. But anyway, it has been a year since that happened, and I am living my life to regret it because I gave him my innocence, yet Wayne still believes that I am saving myself for our wedding night—today! Yes, it is our wedding day today, and as guilty as I am feeling now, I am very excited about this day. I am marrying the man of my dreams, the man I love so much. Wayne has been so good to me and has never left my side, even when he had to. Sometimes, I just want to tell him about what I did with his uncle and how he does not deserve me, but what if he leaves me? Call me selfish, but I am not risking that! Enough about my promiscuous life. I need to focus on the positivity of my day today. I am about to embark on a new journey with my fiancé and I should be putting my focus on that. My phone vibrates next to me on the bed, and I notice it is my husband-to-be calling. I smiled and answered him. “Hi, Hubby,” “Good morning, Wifey. How long have you been up?” He asks. “Well, it’s been a while. I am nervous about today, Wayne. I want everything to be perfect,” “Don’t be nervous, love. Everything will go well. I can’t wait to see you,” Me neither, I cannot wait to see him. This reminds me of the first time we started dating two years ago on this day. We accidentally met at my friend’s boyfriend’s party. I was leaving when he arrived and we saw each other. How could I have left when a handsome man, with those golden-brown eyes, thin lips, bushy brows, and a neat haircut had just arrived? Sadly, I went home without talking to him, but I was surprised a couple of days later when I received an ** message from him. It took him a long time, but he reached out at the end. I was so happy that he felt the little spark between us at the party. Since then, we started seeing each other, and today, we are getting married. “Wayne Jones, I love you so much,” I confessed. “Whoa, baby. Don’t say your vows yet,” He laughs. “I mean it, honey,” “Cassie Williams, I love you. Don’t keep me waiting down the aisle,” I smiled and shrunk from the bed. Is this day really happening, or am I dreaming? “I won’t. See you soon,” “Can't wait!” After hanging up, I jump out of bed and head to the bathroom to take a well-headed bath before everyone who is going to get me ready for my wedding starts coming. Fifty minutes later, I am done, sitting in my white satin robe with ‘BRIDE’ boldly embroidered in gold at the back. I slipped on my white morning slippers, and just as I was about to call room service, someone knocked on the door. I pace down to open, thinking it is my best friend Gina, or the makeup artist and the hairdresser, but it is actually room service. “Hi, I was just about to call. Are these for me? I didn’t order anything?” Champagne, fruits, a big white bouquet of daisies, a mini chocolate fountain, and what seems like a present. “Good morning, ma’am. I was asked to deliver this to you,” The waiter says as he pushes the table in. “By who? Is it Wayne?” I curiously asked, picking a seedless grapefruit and tossing it into my mouth. “It is a complimentary gift from our boss who owns the hotel. Please enjoy yourself, ma’am,” My face instantly gets flushed. “Thank you,” I say to the waiter as he leaves. I sit on a chair and start eating the fresh steaming pancakes with butter and honey, admiring everything. I open the gift bag to see what's inside, and to my surprise, it is a very intimate lace number. Why would a stranger send me a white set of lingerie on my wedding day? Who is the hotel owner? Is it a man or a woman? Wayne hates these things. He always said they were for prostitutes. Well, Wayne is a typical guy who isn't into trends and would rather keep things simple. He is the guy that would tell you; "I will buy you flowers when you deserve to have them." While deep in my thoughts, the door swings open, and my always bubbly Gina barges in. She stops halfway and gives me a look before she screams out loud. I screamed with her and met her halfway before we fell into each other’s arms. “The day has finally arrived, princess!” She cries out. “I know, right,” The tears suddenly burned my eyes. “If you are going to cry, just cry now before you get your makeup done, or you will be the ugliest bride in the universe,” I softly laugh and let the tears out. “I know I have been asking you this question every day, but today is different, and I want you to tell me how you are actually feeling?” We sat down and started talking. “Honestly, I am scared. I have been thinking about what I did a year ago with Wayne’s uncle, and it is eating me up. What if he finds out about it and leaves me? I can’t lose him, Gina,” Gina knows about my secret with Wayne’s uncle. She was the only person I ran to that morning after I spent the night with Wayne’s uncle. “Why do you think you can’t lose him?” Gina’s question makes me confused. Shouldn’t the answer to that question be obvious? “I love him,” I confessed. “And I am pretty sure he knows that too, but the real reason you don’t want to lose him, Cass. What is it that makes you want to hold on to him forever? You don’t want to lose him because of the things he has done for you, or because you are feeling guilty that you enjoyed what his uncle unleashed on you?” She takes a breath. “Please do not take this the wrong way. I just don’t want you to make a mistake of your life by not considering yourself but other people. You never got to explore as Wayne is your first and only boyfriend you have ever had, and now you are getting married. Marry him for the right reason, because even though he might be a very blunt, annoying man sometimes, he still loves you,” I smiled and nodded vigorously. “He is still my man,” I proudly say. I shouldn’t take what Gina just said for granted. There are times I just wanted to explore other people, especially after I broke my virginity to Wayne’s uncle. I felt like the little demon in me had woken up ever since, and only Uncle Lucas had a key to it. To be honest, I found my relationship with Wayne boring sometimes, but even so, I love him, and I am marrying him today. *** Two hours later, my hair and makeup are done, and most importantly, I am in my white wedding gown. I am looking at myself in the full-length mirror, and I am on the verge of crying. I have never looked this pretty, and even Wayne has never seen me look this good. I am just an ordinary girl around Wayne, plus he hates it when I wear makeup. Seeing me looking like a doll will make him cry because it is not every day I look like this. “If you dare let those tears out, you will have me to deal with,” Gina sneaked up behind me with my mother. I turned around to face them. Gina is dressed up in a silver dress that suits the best maid of honour. “My dear, all these years, I have been praying to God to keep me until this day. Even if he decides to take me tomorrow, I will rest in peace because I have seen you in both your graduation gown and your wedding gown. I am so proud of you. You don’t know how it makes me feel to still be here and see you do the things that every mother wishes to see from their children. I am so happy. You look very beautiful, Cassie,” “Mom, you are going to make me cry, and I don’t need Gina dealing with me,” I fanned the tears away with my hand. They laugh. Just then, someone knocks on the door. Gina scurries to open and, surprisingly, it is her boyfriend, Caleb. “Babe?” Gina was surprised. “Caleb... why are you here?” I asked nervously. His face looks nervous, and it is freaking me out. He walks inside quietly and pulls out a page from the pocket of his suit jacket before he hesitantly hands it to me. “What is this?” I asked with no intention of accepting it. Seeing that Caleb is just nervous and can’t speak, Gina snatches the page from his shaky hand and reads it silently. “Oh, my God,” Gina’s voice breaks, and she also gives me a pitiful look before she starts crying. “I am so sorry, Cassie,” She cries out. I looked at my mother, then back at the two. “Is Wayne okay?” I asked, not trying to think of the worst. “For now he probably is, but he won’t be when I find him!” Gina growls. “Huh? What do you mean? Just tell me!” “When we got to his suite... he was gone! We found this note left by him for you,” Caleb gets hold of the note and now gives it to me. ‘Cassie I can’t do this. Please forgive me...’ My soul instantly left my body and got back in a split second. “No... this is a prank. I spoke to Wayne two hours ago, and he told me he couldn’t wait to see me. Wayne is waiting for me down the aisle. Come on, guys, let’s not waste time anymore. Wayne told me not to keep him waiting,” I crumbled the note into a ball and threw it on the floor. "Where is my phone? I need to call him," I get my phone on the coffee table and attempt to call him, but it sends me straight to voicemail. "It is a prank, right?" I ask. “It’s not a prank!” A deep voice rumbles and bounces around the room, causing all of us to turn to where it is coming from. I froze, muscles locked in a momentary paralysis, my eyes wide with astonishment, surprise momentarily rendering me immobile. Gina slowly looked at me and then back at the person standing in the doorway. Surprise had taken hold of me, threatening to spill from my lips in an uncontrollable gasp. He was fair, almost pale white. His unfathomable, golden brown eyes contrasted exceptionally with his light toned face. His eyes were as deep and expressive, where you could get lost if you stared long enough. His face had that faraway look in it, which cannot be described in words. What the f**k is he doing here!?
