Chapter1
When worlds collide
Sofia’s POV:
When life gives you a lemon, you make lemonade from it. This is a quote I strongly believe in. I had just gotten off my shift at a fancy five-star hotel I work at, and I was heading home when a black SUV jeep sped into the parking lot, almost hitting me.
I was Infuriated, I wanted to know who was driving in such a manner. I walked up to the driver angrily and started hitting the windows with my palm to pay attention to me.
The driver got down and shouted at me for hitting the car in that manner. I didn't back down. ” How did they let an unprofessional driver out on the street?” I yelled.
A tall man got down from the back seat, he looked so good. ”Damn, this man is handsome,” I muttered to myself.
He glanced at me as if I were a nobody, then he asked his driver, “What’s happening here?” and the driver told him the situation.
This man scoffed and said to his driver, “Meet me at the suite, I'm late for a meeting”.
Such arrogance, I blurted out, “Really? No apology?”. Just then, a call from my friend Margaret informed me about the test I have the next day.
Later that evening, I got home furious, still playing the whole scenario in my head. I started calling him names out of anger as I was changing into a more comfortable dress.” A very arrogant man, he’s a misogynist for acting in that manner,” I said.
My father came out of his room because my voice was loud, and he asked me,” Who made my beautiful princess upset?” I smiled at him.
It was a spoiled brat, I said, placing my head on his shoulder. My father knows the right words to say and when to say them.
He sat me down and told me to take deep breaths so I could calm down. A few minutes later, I stood up, ready to go make dinner.
” Daddy, what do you want for dinner?” I asked. ”You are my jewel, anything you cook for me is okay by me,” he said. I laughed and left for the kitchen.
Dinner was served, I made spaghetti bolognese, I dished out the food, and sat next to my father. He doesn't like to talk while he's eating, so we both ate, and I asked him if he enjoyed his food. He said, “Your hands are blessed, my darling.”
I cleaned the dining room, then went to my room to sleep. Honestly, I had a long day, and I needed a nice long sleep.
It was raining the next day, and it happened to be the best time for me to get out of bed late. I love it when it rains. My father came to remind me of the test I'm having this morning before he left for work, I checked the time and I was running late, I sprung up from the bed, ran into the bathroom to take my bath, I got dressed in a hurry leaving my room in a mess and ran out of the house.
Getting to the school, the test had started 5 minutes ago. I begged the lecturer to let me in, since I'm one of the top students academically, and he allowed me to take the test. “Benefits of being brilliant,” I said to myself.
Afterwards, I spoke to my friend about what happened yesterday,” Margaret, you needed to see this man, damnnnn, he was looking so good, smells nice and even ravishing. But he was arrogant and couldn’t even apologize for his driver’s mishap”. My friend proceeded to ask if he was rich and what type of car he drove. I replied, saying I wasn’t familiar with the model, but it was an SUV Jeep. We both talked about him as we walked down to the hotel for our afternoon shift. From nowhere, I screamed at the top of my lungs, saying,” Last person to reach the hotel buys the winner steak.”
” That's so not fair,” Margaret said, with a smile on her face. We both arrived at the hotel at the same time, hyperventilating and trying to catch our breaths. I was already anticipating the steak, though.
We went inside the hotel with bright smiles on our faces, greeting everyone at the reception with such enthusiasm. We went into the staff’s room to change into our cleaning outfits.
I took the suites and Margaret took the rooms for cleaning. I got into the elevator after saying “all the best” to my friend.
I got into the elevator on the first floor, heading to the 7th floor. On the 3rd floor, the man from yesterday entered the elevator, and the first word that came from him was” so we meet again,” with a smirk on his face as he stepped into the elevator.
I rolled my eyes and struck my hair behind my ears. I was fuming with anger as I was standing next to him; I kept shaking my left leg and locked my eyes on the elevator’s timer. His presence gave me goosebumps, which I hate.
He looked at me with a grin. He asked,” Are you always this anxious when you are in an elevator?” I scoffed and replied “it’s none of your business asshole”.
He laughed out loud, clapping his hands, then said, “Woah, she’s got an attitude”. This infuriated me more.
Just then, the elevator got to the 7th floor, I breathed a sigh of relief, “This took forever”, I murmured.
We both got off the elevator, I proceeded with my cleaning tools to clean each suite on that floor. It was a floor with over 20 suites. This hotel is magnificent and fancy, I won't lie.
I went from one door to another, cleaning the suites. Who could believe a brilliant student like me works as a cleaner to assist my father with my school fees? Life hasn't been fair, but it gets better with time.
“One more room to go,” I said excitedly. I wheeled my cart to the last room and knocked on the door, a masculine voice responded, “Who is that?” I answered, “The room service, sir.”
To my amazement, this man showed up again. I wanted to turn back, but I couldn't. I mustered up the courage and told him, “I'm here to clean your room, sir, but I can come back if you are busy.” My voice was shaking, surprisingly.
“Are you stalking me?“ he asked.
Not at all, I work here, and I’m here to clean your room He allowed me to enter his room, the whole room was so disorganized. I started by picking up the tequila and whiskey bottles on the floor, and proceeded to lay the bedsheets and duvet properly. This entire time, I could feel his eyes on my body. I just wanted to be done ASAP.
After cleaning the room, I went into the bathroom to clean it. Immediately, I turned around, I saw this man standing at the entrance with only his boxers; he had abs and tattoos all over his chest. I tried to stay calm cause I don't want him to know I'm nervous. “Do you need something?” I asked him.
He didn't give me a response and kept staring down at me. I decided to continue with my work, as I was cleaning the sink, he came up to me, he was breathing down my neck, I turned around and repeated my question.
“Do you know you are so sexy?” He said, with his hand stroking through my lips softly. I shifted to the back, and he even got closer. Get off me, I yelled, pushing him with every ounce of strength in me.
He moved back and said, “Are you scared, little bird “? I packed my cleaning tools and rushed out of the room. I have never been so aroused before, his breath melted into my skin. I can still feel his hands on my lips, I kept thinking to myself till I got off my shift.
Antonio Roberto POV:
I was reminiscing about how well sculpted her body was, just then my phone rang, bringing me out of my thoughts. I hate it when my phone rings, it simply means there's a problem.
I picked up my call, it was Andrew Lewis calling me. My distant cousin from my paternal side, we were inseparable growing up, but now we barely talk. Whenever we talk, it’s always business.
“Drew, it's been a while since we spoke. How is business and your family doing?” I asked, eager to know why he called. ”I'm in deep s**t, I had some dealings with the Mexican cartel. The deal went putrid, currently, they want their goods back or they come for my family,” he responded.
Andrew should have stuck to his family man life, he's not cut out for this dark world of ours. He was a smart, brilliant, easy-going kid growing up, but he has always needed to validate himself time and time again. Which was why he joined the family business to begin with. His voice was quivering over the phone, I could sense fear. ”I would handle it, I need you to send me every leverage you have on the boss,” I declared.
After he hung up, I immediately got dressed, wearing my charcoal grey suit and Oxford shoes. I called my driver to come pick me up. I left the hotel hurriedly to talk to my brother and father.
