The Once Rejected Luna

The sunlight peeked through the small silt of the curtains as I was engulfed in the warmth of my mate. It all still seemed unreal to me, but I never wanted it to end if it wasn’t real.

Waking up, I stretched myself out, before kissing him softly on the cheek and climbing out of bed.

Walking into the bathroom I smiled at the mark on my neck. I stared at it lost in thought when Theon walked up behind me. He gently kissed his mark on my neck as a soft gasp escaped my lips. “My love.” I could feel a smile form across his lips at how weak he made me feel.

He spun me around and smiled down at me. “How is my beautiful Luna?” His hand softly cupped my cheek as I leaned into it. “I’m doing well my love, but we do need to talk further about the Ryder situation.” He sighed softly as his hand left my cheek. I spoke up “I know it’s frustrating but we really need to go and find Lydia Sage. We need to bring her and Ryder together. Maybe we can offer them a place within our pack.”

The frustration on his face was plain as day. “Little wolf, I know that this is important, but this is a lot greater then just allowing a bear shifter and a werewolf to mingle.” He leaned against the bathroom counter “Not everyone will agree with this pairing. They will see it as unnatural.” I could feel anger rise in me. How could he say that? Everyone deserves love no matter what they looked like. No matter what species they were. “So?” I knew the anger could be heard in my voice.

“Who cares what other’s think. This isn’t back in the beginning. This is a new time.” I felt a growl escape my chest as I stood my ground. Theon stood there looking at me letting me getting out what I have to say. “The Carter family lost their lives because of the fact that they couldn’t get over the fact they were two different shifters that were fated!” My voice grew louder. “Don’t tell me you agree? If we do this we are not only protecting our pup’s future but the future of the rest of the families.” His staring only made me angrier. His silence made me feel that he thought all of this would blow away.

He sighed after what seemed like a lifetime and rubbed the back of his head. “Look Jade, it’s not that I don’t believe that everyone deserves to be happy and be with the ones they are destined to be with, but we also have our own future to worry about. I-” stopping him before he said another word I left the bathroom. “I have Luna duties to deal with. I’ll see you for dinner.”

After I got ready I made my way to my office. Standing outside was a tall male, about the same height as Theon. His skin was tanned kissed and his hair was a medium brown. His olive green eyes looked at me and he stood at attention. “Luna, my name is Knox Echo, I am your personal guard as of today” smiling softly knowing that my anger shouldn’t be directed at him. “Hello, Knox, I do apologize that I’m not in the greatest of moods, but I’ll do my best to not let it ruin the start of our friendship.” Smiling up at him he smiled back at me. Then it hit me. “You only report to me. Right?” I looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.

He looked at me confused for a moment but then nodded “Yes, Luna, I only report to you. Is everything okay?” My smile grew wider “it most definitely is. Please step into my office.” He held the door for me as I stepped in. I was going to help the moon goddess wether that went against Theon or not.

After awhile of chatting I told Knox my plan of wanting to go to the Dawn guard pack, led by the Abbott family. I knew before I left I had a few things I had to cover before we finally left tomorrow morning. Knox swore himself to secrecy. Theon was to know none of this, not until after we left would I leave him a letter explaining that I’m heading out to correct a wrong that should of never came to be in the beginning.

I knew he would be angry with me but I wouldn’t be overly worried as I knew he would come to understand eventually. I just didn’t understand why Theon has to put up such a fight on this matter.

At dinner Theon and I sat close together with the rest of the pack that lived in the pack house at the table. We all chatted and talked about our day it was all so beautiful. Lila smiled and she stood up sheepishly “To the new Luna, May she be as blessed by the moon goddess as the goddess as blessed us” everyone erupted into cheers. Theon smiled and softly kissed my cheek.

Everything was so lively and it brought joy to my heart. When dinner ended Theon and I returned to our room and cuddled. I wanted to tell him. I wanted to tell him that I’m leaving tomorrow to the Dawn Guard pack to search for Lydia and to tell him that love shouldn’t matter what shifter you were. It shouldn’t matter who you are.

As if sensing I was battling myself Theon looked at me “little wolf you have been awfully quiet. Even for you.” His eyebrow was raised to me. I sighed as if I was defeated. “I just have a lot on my mind my love.” He groaned softly as he sat down on the bed “Jade, I know what that is. I know you’re upset about our conversation we had earlier.” He rubbed his hand over his face. “It’s not that I don’t think he deserves love. I just don’t know why you are so dead set on being the one to help him.”

I could feel my anger growing. “I told you why I have to do this. If I don’t do this no one else will. If I don’t do this there could be no future for our pups.” I glared at him ready to take him on. I was ready to test his Alpha status if it meant I was protecting a future that I knew could be better for everyone.

Theon growled for a second then sighed. “Jade.. I’ll help you go through with all of this. I just don’t want to see you get hurt.” He pulled me into his arms as he kissed my forehead softly.

Smiling up at him with a huge smile. “Good because we leave tomorrow morning for the Dawn Guard pack.” He looked up at the ceiling with a face of defeat. “Let me guess you were heading to the pack either way?” Seeing the smile of my face he had his answer. “Alright little wolf who were you going to take with you?” Shrugging as if it was nothing “Knox Echo, my guard you assigned me. He sighed and leaned his head against my shoulder “What am I going to do with you little wolf? You are definitely one to test my Alpha status at every turn.”

He laid down pulling me down with him. “Well we best get to sleep. We have a long journey ahead tomorrow and a lot of convincing to do once we get there. He kissed my cheek as we snuggled into each other falling asleep.

It was still dark out when we arose the next morning. We had packed a bag for at least a couple of days. Just enough time for us to convince the Abbotts and to find Lydia Sage. Theon had informed Damien of our leaving and left the pack in his watch. Knox was waiting for us and wasn’t expecting to get a glare from Theon as we walked up to him.

Theon stared at him and raised an eyebrow “So Knox. I assign you to protect my mischievous wife and instead you let her convince you to not only go to another pack but to try and find someone.” Knox looked down in submission as I looked up at Theon “You’re the one who assigned him to me. You know how convincing I am. Either way I was getting my way. Plus the poor boy is just trying to protect his Luna.” Theon rolled his eyes and looked at me. “You know sometimes I feel like the moon goddess just wants to torture me.” He smiled at me “You’re not only beautiful but trouble.”

Laughing happily “So you’ve been talking to not only my brother but my father. Why do you think my dad put me in training.” Knox couldn’t help but laugh and he quickly went quiet with a look from Theon, but I could tell he was fighting his laughter.

Once we loaded the SUV we began our drive to the Dawn Guard pack. Knox was sitting in the passenger seat up front as another guard was driving. It took us a couple of hours to get there. When we finally arrived to the Dawn Guard Pack we were greeted at the pack house by Rowan and Daciana Abbot the current Alpha and Luna of the pack.

We stepped out as the two approached us. Rowan spoke up first “Alpha King Theon and Luna Queen Jade. It is a pleasure to have you at our pack. It was a sudden surprise.” Theon shook his hand “We do apologize for the sudden drop in. We just have some important business to discuss with you and your Luna.” Rowan nodded “Right this was please.”

I was looking around at everything and everyone. It seemed so different from both my old pack and the one of my mate’s. I could see a small group of girls who seem to be cleaning. They didn’t even look to us as the went about their business. Daciana noticed my confusion and spoke. “I’m guessing you guys don’t have Omegas where you are from” I looked to her “No. We believe a pack is like a second family.” She shrugged and fell into line with her mate “What a shame. Some just don’t deserve the title of family.”

I didn’t like her and I knew that this could be difficult. I mind link Theon ‘Something tells me that if we are to go through with getting Ryder and Lydia together we have to give them a place within our pack’ Theon gave me a look that said he knew what I meant. My eyes scanned through all the girls as we made our way to Rowan’s office. When we opened the door my eyes fell to a small girl with dark brown hair and doe like eyes. As if someone whispered into my ear I knew the girl standing in front of me was Lydia Sage. She quickly made her way out of the office as if she had been cleaning it.

I watched her leave before taking my place next to Theon. Rowan sat in his chair and Daciana in his lap. Theon spoke up “We do apologize for the sudden drop in again. We came here to talk to you about one of your pack members. We’d like to take her in.” Rowan raised his eyebrow “And which pack member is that? If it’s a lowly omega, I don’t see why not, but I must ask what for.” Before Theon could speak up I did “Her name is Lydia Sage. It turns out she is a long lost cousin of mine and I would like to reunite with her.” He raised an eyebrow to me as Theon’s voice came through the mind link ‘What are you..’ before he could finished I quickly told him ‘They aren’t going to believe me about the moon goddess. Anyone who would treat a pack member the way they are treating their ‘omegas’ is sickening.’ He didn’t say anything else through the mind link.

He cleared his throat “Yes, you see Lydia Sage is a cousin of my beautiful mate and she just wants to be reunited.” Rowan nodded as Daciana watched me. “Very well, call it a gift to the new Luna” he smiled at me but it wasn’t something that made me feel good. It was strained. Within second Lydia came walking in with her head down “Lydia, it seems you are a long lost cousin of Luna Queen Jade. From today on you will be apart of their pack. Pack your things.” The small girl nodded her head and didn’t say a thing as she shut the door. “Now with that settled let’s throw a celebration for the the Alpha King and his beautiful mate.”

Theon smiled “it would be greatly appreciated. With everything settled we can leave first thing in the morning with Lydia.” We left Rowan and Daciana in Rowan’s office as another small omega showed us to our room. Theon looked to me as his mind link ‘Something is off. Whatever you do don’t drink or eat anything at the party. I already told Knox to make sure he had Lydia in his grasp. We are leaving tonight.’ I nodded and made sure to say nothing out loud. I didn’t like the feeling. There was a sickness of power hovering over this pack and I would be okay with Ryder wiping out the Abbott blood line.

After awhile a knock came to our door. While we are at the party Knox and the other guard are to grab our things and Lydia and be ready with the car. Theon opened the door to the small Omega who showed us to our room here to escort us to the party. We made our way down to the hall as Rowan and Daciana greeted us “You know Romeo Carter would of loved you Jade” I laughed a bit but felt uneasy “I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to meet him” she sighed “it truly is sad, to think a bear shifter went mad and killed the whole pack. A truly sad day.” She smiled and moved on to partying.

The party was definitely not like the one we threw for Theon when he came. It was more like a frat party if I had to compare it. So much grinding on one another. I looked over to find Theon talking to Rowan and girls gawking at him. I made my way to Theon side and he slid his arm around my waist. I could feel daggers on my back but I turned to look at them and gave them my Alpha female stare. They tucked their tails between their legs and escaped from any further damage to come their way.

Hours into the party, Theon and I had evaded any drinks or food that came our way. I could tell that Daciana was staring to notice. I mind link Theon that we needed to go now before any further questioning.

We disappeared into the crowd of pack members and slipped out the back door. Theon had my hand gripped in his as this brought back memories of escape the Blue Mist pack. Before we could make it a step further Daciana stepped out “Leaving so soon?” We looked at her, I could feel the hatred pouring off of her. I spoke up quickly “Yea, I’m sadly not feeling too hot and Theon just wanted to get me home so I can rest.” Daciana wasn’t buying it as she stepped forward with two guards at her heels. “Now we could of been very good friends Jade but it seems we both just have two very different views on this world.” I shrugged “I guess we do Daciana but I don’t see why we can’t just be civil.” She laughed “Now now I know why you are really here and it’s not because Lydia Sage is your cousin.” Theon was watching the guards as I stood up taller “You’re right but that isn’t anything that concerns you.”

Her eyes darkened “Oh but it does. You see Lydia Sage was for told to be Ryder’s second mate and I’m not about to allow that monster to get his hands on her. That is sickening to allow a bear shifted and a wolf shifter to mingle.” Anger was growing deep inside me. “So are you going to stop us? Because I know you can’t find Lydia right now. If you could you wouldn’t be so on edge.” My smile was wicked. “You know the Blackwoods are known for their fighting strength.” She snickered “The Blackwoods were taken out long ago.” Theon smiled this time “Oh no no, you see my actually name is Jade Blackwood. The only Daughter to the Blackwood family.” Daciana growled at me baring her canines as her guards did the same.

In a matter of seconds I was in front of her with my fist making contact with her jaw as she fell backwards. “You dare bare your canines at me? I could easily take out your guards and no one would know.” Theon quickly pulled me away “Jade, I would love to watch you destroy this b***h but we got to go and go now.” Her guards were tending to her and trying to get her away from the situation knowing that they couldn’t take us both on. Theon and I quickly escaped as Knox was waiting with the SUV.

Once safely inside all five us escaped making our way back to the safety of our pack. The next things to do was find Ryder. I looked at Lydia as she was watching out the back window. This was definitely something I never saw myself doing. I knew other’s might also be against us but once we found Ryder and united the both of them they were going to be protected within our pack and no one was going to go against us at that point. We just have to get to him before it’s too late.
