Just Run

After we arrived back at the Blood Moon pack, Lydia settled into a room in the pack house. We have been searching for a month now following any leads that have come our way on finding out where Ryder is or was.

It seemed he had racked up a rouge pack and is working from the shadows of that pack. It’s been frustrating. We have sent scouts all over and not a single one has come back with much information. Trying to stay positive about the whole thing is getting harder and harder. I could tell I was beginning to frustrate Theon with my own frustration.

I was in my office with Knox sitting on the couch looking down at a map with pin markers. A knock came at my door as the smell that I know so well filled my nose. I looked up at the door “Yes my love?” Theon poked his head in and looked at Knox, who without saying a word got up and exited out of my office.

Theon cleared his throat “My little wolf, you’ve been so busy with finding Ryder.” He walked over to me and gently lifted me up taking my seat with me cradled against him.

He softly kissed my head “Let’s take a break my love and doing something fun”

I nestled against him “That would be nice my love.” Stretching a bit a yawn escaped my lips. He smiled down at me “why don’t we go for a run baby? We haven’t done that in awhile.” He gently set me down as I nodded my head happily as I spoke up. “A run sounds nice actually. Verena has been just as frustrated about all of this.” I could feel her get happy to be able to be set free a bit without paper work in her face or trying to look for someone that can’t seem to be found.

We made our way to the back of the pack house to the edge of the woods as we stripped down from our clothes.

First Theon shifted with ease like always as I was next. I shifted with a slight bit of pain, but it was getting easier. Theon slightly nudged me as we took off running through the woods.

Feeling the breeze through my fur as my paws slapped the ground with each push. We ran further and further through the woods, playing as we ran along. It felt so great to just be out in the open like this. Fresh air, the sound of the birds singing.

We came upon a stream as I lapped up water. Theon trotted up next me. He softly nudged me wagging his tail as I nudge him back. He nipped my back leg as I jumped a bit. He wagged his tail faster and crouched down in a playful position. I barked at him happily as I jumped on his back in a attempt to knock him over. He quickly moved and pinned me down licking my face. I yipped in a happy tone as I licked his face.

After a few hours of us jumping around, chasing each other and tackling. We laid down in the grass curled up with each other. I couldn’t be happier. It felt good to take a break from finding someone who was so hard to find. It was almost like he never existed. Thinking about it I laid my head down Theon’s front paws as I felt him licking my snout. I just want all of this to be done and over with. I just want to prove to everyone that it shouldn’t matter, who or what you are, that love it love no matter what. Ryder should know he has the right to be happy and be with his mate in peace. I knew all of this wasn’t going to be easy.

The abbot family proved that and the Carter family lost their lives because of it. I wasn’t about to let the rest of the founding families die or live on thinking that you should stick to your own kind. I just had to show Ryder that he had a chance for that peace. That he had a chance to be happy and that no one was or is going to judge them.

I whined softly, the whole thing just upset me, I don’t know what I would do without Theon. What if he was a different shifter? I know I would still love him no matter what but I’d be fighting everyone to let us just be happy, but it’s what I would do to be happy with my mate. Theon softly nudge me trying to comfort me. He pushed through with our mind link ‘Little wolf, what’s wrong?’ Looking up at him I spoke through the link ‘Just thinking about everything. Especially if we were in the same position as Ryder was and is in.’ Theon softly sighed and licked my snout again ‘I know, little wolf. I know that Romeo Carter shouldn’t had done what he did. He messed up and caused a mess for us all but didn’t know.’ I huffed softly.

He gently nudged me to get up and I did, stretching as I did. ‘Let’s head back little wolf.’ I nodded and followed him happily as we made our way to the pack house. I knew tomorrow I would have to get back to trying to find a guy who doesn’t seem to want to be found, but for now I was just going to enjoy being near my mate.

After a bit of a hike we made it back to the edge of the woods and slipped back into our clothes. Theon picked me up bridal style and walked into the pack house and up the stairs with a huge smile on his face. I laid there against him smiling. “Now then little wolf, I’m not letting you get back to work today. I want you to myself and not searching for the bear shifter.” He kissed my lips deeply as I returned the kiss happily. “I figured my love and I’m not going to complain either.” This just made him smile more.

He pushed open the door to our room and laying on the bed was a cute basket full of snacks, movies and a blanket for us to curl up underneath. “I figured after our run we could shower, get into comfy clothes and spend the rest of the night just watching movies and eating snacks.” I smiled up at him. “My love I absolutely love that idea, when did you plan all of this?” He shrugged his shoulders after setting me down on my feet. “Well I saw how frustrating everything was making you and I know it’s been a month since we have had any new leads on where Ryder is.” He kissed my forehead “I just wanted to let you relax and take a break my love.” All of this filled my heart with joy.

After our shower we spent the rest of the night just enjoying each other’s company and watching movies together. In the first time in a month I felt at peace and not about to rip my hair out. This was going to give me a fresh start tomorrow in finding Ryder. We spent the rest of the night in each other’s arms and closer then ever together.
