The Once Rejected Luna

Alpha King

The wind slapped me in the face as I ran. I could feel myself pushing harder and harder.

Why was I being chased? What did this monster want from me? I continued to push myself as I ran through the woods.

A light could be seen pouring through the trees as I came to a stop in front of it. A beautiful lady stood within the light. Her beautiful long white hair fell over her shoulders. I knew at that moment that this was the moon goddess. My heart rate quicken as she turned and looked at me.

“My child.” her voice was smooth and flowed, “Stop running from the black wolf. He will not be your downfall, but your beginning.”

Her words sat with me as the large Wolf made an appearance. His golden eyes stared at me as I stared right back into his.

He’s my beginning? I tilted my head a bit. He stepped forward and I took a step back. Before I knew I was falling.

I woke up sitting up and breathing a bit heavy. Everything was so confusing. I know I had to trust the moon goddess because she was never wrong but how was that wolf to be my beginning? What did it all mean?

I climbed out of bed and started to get ready. I was going to spend my day training. It was what I needed to clear my head.

Two weeks have passed since my mate and I rejected one another. I can't say that it was easy and I can't say I didn't cry. Growing up I was always told that mate's are a beautiful thing and that once you find them they will accept you easily, that wasn't my case though.

Drowning myself in my training after my graduation a week ago is all I had. I had not seen my brother in two weeks either. He had to be at the pack house has the Alpha King is suppose to arrive today and we are holding a gala in his honor.

Landing punch after punch into the training and dummy I grew tired wiping the sweat off my brow. Ending my training for the day I decided to make the hike back home.

When I finally made it back home I froze when the scent hit my nose. That intoxicating smell of cardamom, with a mix of Sandalwood and amber hit my nose. Luke was here.

Standing a bit taller I continued walking up to my family home. I wasn't going to show him that he affected me. I wasn't going to let him even try. The house came into view as I saw Luke waiting outside by his car as my brother walked out of the house and up to him. I continue walking as I made it closer to the house in my training gear.

My brother stopped and smiled at me. "Hey sis."

Smiling back at him I waved. Luke's eyes were locked onto me, I could feel the hair on the back of my neck raise as I readjusted myself. As if the goddess knew I needed an escape route. Alpha Mark and my father walked out of my families home.

Alpha Mark smiled as he walked over, "Jade! Look at how beautiful you've grown up to be and all your father does is talk about how strong you've become."

Smiling softly, I spoke up, "Thank you Alpha Mark, training is everything to me at this point." my eyes shifted over to Luke quickly my smile never fading from my face but my eyes said other wise.

Alpha Mark sighed, "Too bad you weren't my son's mate instead of that w***e that is attached to his side. What's her name again?"

Luke quickly spoke up, "Lauren, Dad and she is not a w***e and will be the future Luna."

My wolf howled in laughter as I fought back a laugh myself. Jay looked at me and knew instantly as his voice sneaked into my head in a private mind link.

'Are you laughing at Lauren becoming Luna?'

My eyes shot to him as I respond, 'I mean Alpha Mark is not wrong about the w***e part. In fact I saw her with Brandon just last week.'

Being pulled back into the conversation as I heard Alpha Mark say my name. "Jade, would of been a better fit. She is about to be Captain of the guard." Luke stood a bit taller. "Well, it's not Jade. Ok?"

Rubbing the back of my neck at all the tension raising "Well, thank you for the compliment Alpha Mark, but your son doesn't want me as his mate." Luke's eyes quickly shot to me with a dark look as I continued, "I'd rather just be Captain of the guard then be Luna."

Alpha Mark sighed, "It is what it is, well we must be going. Alpha king Theon should be arriving today. I know you'll look amazing tonight Jade and maybe my 'wonderful' son..." he said tightly, "will rethink."

My father looked at me and looked over at Luke with a disappointed stare before speaking to Alpha Mark, "My friend we both know mates are a scared thing." The way how he said mates had me watching Luke flinch before he turned around and started walking towards his car as I disappeared into my family's home.

I went straight to my room and got ready to take a shower. I don’t want to be Luke’s luna, Lauren can have that title all she wants. After my shower I laid out on my bed to think about everything.

Later that evening I was in my room slipping into a beautiful dark green evening gown. It hugged my body and showed off my curves.

As I was admiring myself in the mirror my mother walked in. She smiled at me, "Honey, you look absolutely stunning in that gown." She smiled more, "You definitely have my looks but your father's stubbornness."

I looked over at my mother who was wearing a similar dress that hugged her just a little bit tighter and was a beautiful shade of red.

My mother admired herself for a bit longer in my mirror before speaking, "He'll regret letting you go once he sees you tonight, but will regret even more if you find your second chance mate." she smiled, "now then, let's go make a little pup jealous."

I swear if it wasn't for the fact that I knew she was mother you'd think she's my sister.

After leaving our family home we made it to the pack house. I looked up at the massive building that housed our Alpha's and was held as a guest house for important guests. I slowly stepped out.

My brother was right by my side. A lot of people have told us we are the splitting image of our parents. My brother taking on my father's looks and I my mother's. My father and brother shared the same curly blonde hair and blue eyes as my mother and I shared auburn red hair and green eyes. The only difference between my mother and I was the fact that freckles lightly laid across my nose, just under my eyes.

My father lead us into the pack house with my mother on his arm. As I walked along side my brother. We looked like a beautiful well put together family. My mother and father ascended the stairs first as my brother and I did next. I felt a pair of eyes on me then another set. I didn't let myself look around. I just continue making my way to the ball floor. Stepping lightly down I was greeted by a few unmated male wolves.

A sharp growled could be heard from behind me as the male wolves hurried off. I turned around and came face to face with an angry looking Luke. I looked up at him and returned the anger.

"Can I help you Alpha?"

He looked down at me. His eyes looked me up and down as if he would swallow me whole. Before he could say anything Lauren walked up with her high pitch whining, "Lukeee... Why did you run off?"

Looking up at him, I raised my eyebrow at him as if challenging him for an answer as well. He looked down at her, "Nothing. I thought I saw my beta."

Rolling my eyes I walked away from him and headed over to get a drink.

Drinking for a werewolf is nothing, I've seen males drink several kegs without a phase to them. Once we reached the age of 18 we were consider adults and drinking was fine for us as long as we didn't get caught by humans.

As I got to the bar I ask for a quick shot of whiskey. That's when the smell hit me. This one was different. It was like the smell of cedar and pine after being burned in a beautiful campfire. A shiver ran down my spine as I felt the eyes on me next.

I scanned my surroundings. Then my eyes locked onto the set of eyes staring at me.

My heart rate quicker as I looked at the very handsome man in front of me. His hair was black has midnight, his eyes. Oh his eyes trapped me in their spot. They are a beautiful golden hazel. His stride was long making his way to me in a few steps.

My wolf howled in excitement. Verena chanted in my head, 'Jade Mate! We have another mate!'

The man stood in front of me, his black on black suit was fitted to a beautiful smile that bore down into me. My breathe was taken away as his hand softly touched my face.

He whispered softly, "Mine." He laughed softly at himself, "I'm sorry beautiful, where are my manners." his voice made my body melt. It was deep and beautiful.

"I'm Theon, what is your's, my lovely mate?"

He leaned down into me his face inches from mine. Taken in his scent my wolf purred at his closeness and I felt my hand softly touch the stubble that grew from his jawline.

"I'm Jade, it's very nice to meet you.." my eyes widen slightly, "Alpha king Theon?"

My hands froze in their spot and his smile widen, "Yes my beautiful, I am Alpha king Theon Knox, from the Blood Moon Pack."

A loud growl could be heard from across the room as everyone turned to see what was going on, both Theon and I looked up from each other to look. I felt a strong arm snake around my waist and pull me closer.

My eyes found the source of the growl from non other then Luke himself who was now being held back by my father and Alpha Mark. A small little Lauren trying to calm down the beast that won't easily calm down. I pressed myself into Theon as I heard a low deep growl come from within him.

Before I could say anything Luke was making his was up to Theon and I with a distressed Lauren on his arm her pleads for him to stop showing no use.

“Stay away from her!” Theon shoved me behind himself.

“And why would I do that little pup.” Theon had a good four inches on Luke and was definitely more built then Luke was. “She mines and you can’t have her.”

This time it was my turn to get angry, “I’m not yours! You just can’t lay claim to me, Luke!”

I could see the rage building up in him as he threw a punch towards Theon. Before it could make contact several guards were on him in seconds.

Alpha Mark came walking up fast, “Alpha King Theon,” he bowed, “I am so sorry for my pup’s actions. I promise to take care of this myself and punish him for his actions.”

Theon growled, “See to it. He’s to be nowhere near my mate and I mean that.”

Watching them drag Luke away was sad, but he had done it to himself. Verena was happy and content with Duncan who was the name of Theon's wolf. We were now in Alpha Mark's office. Theon insisted that I sit on his lap.

I could hear his purrs as he gently kissed my cheek then my arm. Giggling softly my fingers ran softly through his stubble again and he looked up at me lovingly.

This. This right here is what I wanted. I wanted to be loved by my mate.

As I was deep in thought Alpha Mark walked in and Alpha Theon smiled at him leaning back with a hand on my hip, "Alpha Mark, this was suppose to be a good moment with my beautiful mate who has been graced in my presents."

Alpha Mark sighed softly, "I am sorry about this Alpha king Theon. I apologize for my son." He looked up at me, "It seems ms.Jade here was my son's mate but he rejected her."

My body tensed but Theon lightly rubbed my back, "Well, that is his lost for loosing such a beauty. I'm not letting my mate go at all."

Alpha Mark nodded softly and rubbed the back of his neck, "I understand King Theon."

Theon gently stood me up as he then stood up his self ,"now if you excuse me, I would like to meet my mate's family."

With that we walked out of Alpha Mark's office and I knew then I would have a massive choice ahead of me.
