Fresh snow kisses the ground as our SUV’s came to a stop. I stepped out and dragged Lila with me by her hair. She fell with a thud with barely anything clinging to her body. Anger sat heavily in my body.
We made our way through the snow as I called over my shoulder. “Knox! Put the post here.” I righted my grip on Lila. “You’re going to shift and call him.” She looked up at me with such hatred. “And if I don’t?” I looked at her with such a menacing stare. “Then die.” I smiled “but you will call him either way.” She flinched and I smelt the fear that pour out of her. All of this has been eye opening to all the members of our pack. They know that I mean business when it comes to this pack and my mate. The ones who thought I wasn’t luna material have shown me the respect I deserve now. It made me feel whole.
Lila looked up at me as the chains made their ways around her neck. I stared down at her. “Shift.” Was all I said in my alpha tone. With that she shifted into a small grey toned wolf. Knox then attached the chains to her legs. “Now call him.” I saw her hesitation and I gripped her scruff. “ I said call him!” My eyes bore into her’s before dropping her. Once she stood up, she howled.
We waited for a short amount of time before her howl was returned. I smiled knowing who that howl was coming from. The same howl that use to howl through my old pack. The same howl that was in pain the day I escaped.
Sure enough a large muddy brown wolf came lumbering out of the woods. I stared him down has he snarled at me. “You’re pretty angry for a fallen alpha.” I spoke calmly. “Or was it because your son not only took your pack by force, but I also helped the bear shifter you were trying to use.” He slowly started to make his way towards me.
A wicked smile crept across my face “no, that was just some of the reasons.” I stood at the ready as Mark started to come at me faster. I knew Theon was near by, but I didn’t want him coming out just yet.
Had he came at me close enough, I grabbed a hold of his head and flipped him onto his back. I heard a quick yelp, then growling. He struggled to set himself free from my grip. What I didn’t see coming was another wolf. It caused me to let go of mark to dodge the other wolf.
Know stood beside me ready to attack as he had already shifted. Being a true alpha made me stronger in both forms.
They came at us quickly. I went straight for Mark and Knox went for the intruder. After awhile of fighting I had to shift. Teeth snapping and growling echoing was all that was heard as the rest of the Forest was quiet. Mark threw me a couple of times but I was able to return that with ease.
No one seemed to be letting up as the fight continued. Blood stained part of the snow from a few wounds each of us got. They had seemed to be retreating to the woods as Knox and I started to chase after. We could here Lila howling. I looked over to Knox knowing this couldn’t be good. Both of us stopped and sniffed the air in. My body tensed as I could smell so may other wolves. Knox nodded as we ran back the way we came.
I looked to a smiling Lila, but to her dismay she was still chained in place. She was waiting and hoping for Mark to save her. That saving wasn’t going to come. I picked up speed and opened my jaws wide as I ripped her head from her body. I turned to see Mark staring at me from the edge of the woods. I dropped her head with a large wolffish smile as I licked my jaws slowly and menacingly.
His angry licked at me from across the opening and with that I took in a deep breath and howled for Theon. He came slowly out from behind the side of our suv. His long blueish/black fur glistening. I could see the anger more and feel it licking my heels from where I stood. Mark growled and lowered hisself as more of his pack members came slipping out from between the trees.
He was trying to scare us, but that wasn’t going to work. I took his toy from him. His pack doesn’t want him. He failed at killing Theon. I knew all of this would drive a once feared, hard ruling wolf mad. I felt it in me that I wanted to rip his head off. I had to watch myself as I felt myself riding the edge of being that same way, but I knew Verena would never allow myself to get that way.
Theon raised his head and let out a long howl calling to our pack that we had hiding and waiting. We saw Mark stop in his tracks, but like the rabid dog he was, he made his way to us as the rouges looked around. They were out number and knew it. I smiled knowing we have Mark now. Nothing will stop me, or so I thought. The same wolf that came out earlier and ruined my moment was ruining it again. He grabbed ahold of Mark and started dragging the struggling ex alpha away from the war. The other Rouges started to stay back to ensure their escape. I started running after them. I wasn’t going to let him get away. He wasn’t going to live. Before I could make it far Theon stopped me and told me that we would just have to wait for another chance. I shifted and screamed “Come get me!!” And that was the end of it for now at least.
