New Beginnings

It’s been almost a week since I arrived into the Blood Moon Pack with Theon. Tonight is the Luna ceremony and I just couldn’t be happier. A few of the pack members told me that the ceremony in the Blood Moon Pack isn’t like other luna ceremonies. The worst part was no one would tell me what made them so different. Huffing quietly in frustration, I made my way through the pack house since Theon was busy with alpha duties and preparation for tonight’s ceremony. Heading outside, I found my way to the edge of the woods. ‘Verena?’ I spoke softly, ‘Hm?’ I was curious if she felt the same way about everything going on. ‘Do you miss everyone?’ I heard her softly sigh, ‘Yes, I truly do. Mostly our family. I didn’t get much time to connect to their wolves.’ She was right, with everything that happened, we had to leave faster then we would of had to. After walking for a while and heading deep into the woods. I found a nice little spot to relax at. The wind felt good against my skin as I sat up against the tree, I took in a soft breath. The wind softly played in my hair as I felt the pull of sleep coming. Slowly I drifted away into the happy blissfulness of sleep. Wild flowers covered the ground where I found myself laying. It was absolutely peaceful. I took a deep breath in enjoying the fresh clean smell. Before I knew it, I was graced with a peaceful soft glow of light. I looked up and smiled “Goddess, it is so good to see you again.” The warmth of her light was something I had never felt before. She smiled at me, “My child, you need to know why and who Ryder is.” I knew she was right. I sat up and spoke, “Who is he? Why does he want the founding families wiped out?” The Moon Goddess sighed softly, “Jade, Ryder is a bear shifter.” A bear shifter? Why would a bear shifter want us all wiped out? I thought they kept to themselves? As if the goddess knew, she spoke up again, “Ryder wasn’t always like this. He lived in peace near the Blue Moon Pack in Alberta. He found peace there and I blessed him with a mate. She was a she-wolf named Angel from the Blue Moon Pack.” I was confused, what’s wrong with that? I could see a slight tear sliding down the goddess's cheek. “The current alpha at the time was a wolf shifter named Romeo Carter. He was the current head of the Carter family.” Did she say was? “He didn’t agree with the matching. He thought it was sickening. He thought that I the Moon Goddess made a mistake. Me?!” I could see the pain in the Moon Goddess eyes and hear it in her voice. “My beautiful matching of those two.” A chill swept through me, I held myself as she continued. “Romeo did the unthinkable. He executed the poor sweet girl in front of Ryder. Ryder went into a fit of rage. He gathered a few other shifters who felt the same way about the Carter family. He wiped out not only the Blue Moon Pack but also the Carter family.” I found myself not sad for the Carter family, but for Ryder himself. I couldn’t imagine my life without Theon. A mate is something that should never be taken lightly. I looked up at the Goddess as the wind picked up around us. I spoke up, “What can I do to show him that the other founding families are not the same as the Carter family? We would never be denied mates who are blessed to be together.” My anger grew, “They are a blessing by you, my Goddess!” The wind began to settle as the warmth came back. The Moon Goddess smiled softly at me, “My child, I knew from the moment you were born that you were destined for greatness.” Just hearing those words filled my heart. “Thank you, my Goddess.” She softly touched my cheek. “You must show Ryder that he has nothing to worry about. He isn’t too far gone.” She softy kissed my forehead. “Before I forget, you must find a wolf named Lydia Sage. She is his second chance mate. You’ll find her within the pack lead by the Abbott family.” Before I knew it, I was pulled from the dream. As I came too I heard my name being called. I knew the deep voice as the smell of my mate hit me. I called out to him in return, “Theon, my love, I’m over here!” He looked like a lost puppy as his ears perked up. He came straight to me at lightening speed picking me up in his arms. “My little wolf!” He nuzzled against my neck where he would place his mark as he softly spoke, “I was so worried about you when everyone said they didn’t know where you were.” He held me tighter against him as I softly kissed him with him returning it. The love I felt for this man was not like any other love I could have ever felt. Just has he was happy to see me, he turned that look into a serious one. “Now little wolf. Why did you wonder off?” I looked at him innocently. “I’m sorry my love, I didn’t mean to make you worry. I was just so bored with you being busy with everything and I know you don’t want me doing Luna duties until after the ceremony tonight.” I pouted, hoping that would help get me out of trouble. His features softened as he placed me down on my feet. “It’s okay, little wolf. I know with me being busy, it hasn’t been easy for you to adjust to everything.” He takes my hand in his. “Now, let’s get you back home little wolf.” I nodded smiling up at him “Let’s go home, my love.” Hand in hand, we made our way back to the pack house. The words the Moon Goddess said to me sat in the back of my mind. I knew I had to tell Theon what she had said to me. He had to know about Ryder. We had to come up with a solid plan to convince the other founding families that Ryder’s mate being a she-wolf isn’t something they needed to worry about, but first I needed to know that Theon felt the same way as I did. Once we made it back to our room, I looked up at Theon. “My love, I have something very important to tell you and I need you to have an open mind.” He looked at me confused for a moment, but sat down. “Go ahead, little wolf.” I fiddled with my hands for a moment. “How do I say this? It’s nothing about us. We are fine, we are more then fine.” I started to stumbled over my words trying to find the right way to say this. “While I was asleep out in the woods, I was visited by the Moon Goddess. She told me that I needed to save a bear shifter named Ryder.” I could see Theon’s jaw tense at the name. “Do you know who I’m talking about?” He leaned back against the couch. “I do. He’s the bear shifter who ended the Carter family.” I could tell how he said that, that he didn’t have the full story. “But do you know why he did?” He looked at me confused. Sighing softly, I spoke, “Romeo Carter had Ryder’s mate executed. Ryder’s mate was a she-wolf named Angel.” I could see that Theon was contemplating the words I said. After a minute, he spoke up. “So let me get this straight, Romeo Carter took it upon himself to execute someone mate because one was a bear shifter and one was a wolf?” I nodded my head. “and the Moon Goddess told you herself?” I nodded my head again. I could see he was fighting with himself on this. “Theon, before you say anything that I think you might. I need to say this. Mates are something that shouldn’t be messed with and the fact that Ryder got his taken away by execution, is murder.” I could feel my anger rise as I heard Verena speak up, ‘Keep going, Jade.’ With that I continued, “What if that would be us? What if you were in that situation?” He rubbed his forehead, “But I’m not a bear shifter.” I growled at him and he looked at me in shock, “It shouldn’t matter! If the Moon Goddess wishes them to be together then that should be that!” He stood up and looked down at me, “Did you just growl at me?” His wolf was fighting to break the surface, but I knew I had to stand my ground. I could feel Verena giving me strength. “I did! It shouldn’t matter and you know that, Theon!” He sighed and leaned his head against mine. “I know, little wolf. I’m sorry, it wasn’t right of me to make you feel like I didn’t understand.” I looked up at him as he spoke some more, “All anyone was told was that Romeo Carter and most of the Blue Moon Pack was murdered. No one knows where the rest of the pack members are.” He picked me up into his arms as he moved us to the bed. “I should of never doubted you.” I held onto him as he laid down with us. I spoke up softly, “My love, we still have another problem on our hands.” I could hear his sigh as my head was against his chest. “Ryder wants all the founding families gone. He also freed alpha Mark.” He tensed and looked down at me. He had a mix of fear and anger in his eyes. “What do you mean?” I looked up at him a little worried about his anger that was pouring off of him. “The day we ran away from my old pack, the Moon Goddess told me that Ryder freed him. I didn’t have a lot of information on who he was..” I looked away rubbing my arms, “I didn’t know how to tell you and when I spoke to Luna on the phone the other day she told me that Luke, my father, and my brother were busy with trying to find him.” I could feel Theon’s eyes on me and I knew he was fighting his wolf right now. I knew everything I told him he was taking in. I was worried and I could hear Verena whimpering ‘What if mate gets mad we didn’t tell him right away?’ Her words only made me worry more ‘Verena, you’re not helping. That fear is already in my head and fueling my adrenaline.’ I could feel Verena getting antsy as Theon spoke up. “I am upset that you didn’t tell me right away, but I understand you didn’t have a lot of information to go off of.” He softly touched my cheek. “I’m not going to hold it against you, however we do need to come up with a plan after the luna ceremony.” He nuzzled me softly, “Let’s put it to the side for now.” He slid me underneath him with a wicked smirk across his face, “I can’t wait until I get to make you mine.” My face began to heat up at his words. “Oh, is my little wolf blushing?” He leaned his head into my neck and softly planted a kiss on my neck. Before I could wrap my head around anything I felt his tongue slowly run across my neck. My body shuttered in excitement as a gasp escaped my lips. My brain felt foggy as he positioned himself in between my legs. He softly nibbled on my neck, he made his way down to my collar bone as a moan escaped my lips. A growl of approval came from deep within Theon. He looked down at me, his eyes were pitched black, I knew Duncan was fighting for control. My heart rate was racing, I could hear my heart beating in my ears. He nipped at my lips, “We better save the fun for the Luna ceremony. I can’t promise I won’t claim you now.” The smile on his face was everything to me. I knew at that moment he could easily dominate me and I would just give in to him. “T-Theon...” I was stuttering a bit. “Yes little wolf?” He smiled down at me. The smile on his face made me tongue tied as my eyes were locked onto his. I felt like prey trapped in the eyes of a predator. While our eyes were locked into place a knock came at his door and he hung his head low with an angry growl he sat up. “Yes?” Damien opened the door and looked between us, “Sorry to bother you Alpha and Luna. You have a phone call from Alpha Luke at the Blue Mist Pack.” With that Theon got up and planted a kiss on my forehead. “Let me go handle this call then we can get ready for the Luna ceremony.” I nodded up at him as I watched him head out of our room with Damien in tow. Tonight I would be marked fully his. Verena and I couldn’t wait. After the ceremony, I knew I had to find out where Ryder is and how to convince the Abbott family that the she-wolf Lydia Rose is going to be the second chance mate to a bear shifter. Verena spoke to me softly, ‘That is just going to have to be a bridge that we cross when we get there.’ I knew she was right. I pulled out a phone and made a phone call to my father. He needed to know so he could protect our family. If Ryder did have the rest of the Blue Moon Pack with him, my family needed to be prepared. Walking over to the window, I dialed my father as I looked out the window to the moon. I spoke to myself as the phone rang, “Moon Goddess, please let my father understand.”
