The Once Rejected Luna

Welcome Ryder

Lights hung from tree to tree, everyone was moving around getting everything set up. Even Ryder was here to help set up his own party. I could tell it was making everyone feel a bit better.

I was busy making sure the food and activities were in plenty. Last night was still fresh in my mind. I looked up and saw Theon talking and directing. As if I got caught his eyes locked with mine and I blushed deeply, looking away. I felt the tingles that lit up my body brush over me again.

I quickly went back to what was in front of me to make sure everything was ready.

After hours of work the sun started to set and everyone started to arrive. It became so lively with talking. Everyone seemed happy, even Lydia and Ryder did as well. I knew this is what we needed before their mating ceremony.

Theon found me easily and pulled me into his arms. “My beautiful Luna, look at how amazing you’ve done here.” He kissed me deeply as I kissed him back happily. “I’m just glad all is going well and that everyone seems happy and at peace.” He cupped my cheek into his large hand lifting my chin up. “You make such an amazing luna..” his words trailed off as he kissed me again.

He took me out on to the dance floor where people were having fun dancing together. He pulled me in close as we danced together under the lights. The music thumping through the speakers as he spun me out then back in. It was as if it was just the two of us and I couldn’t have been happier. We smiled and laughed as those around us also enjoyed the moment. If this could last forever and we could just stay in this peace that would be all I would want in life.

We danced for hours until we couldn’t stay on our feet anymore. It was about midnight and most of the guest had already returned home for the night. Ryder came walking up to us with a sleeping Lydia in his arms and smiled “Thank you both, we had a great time but I think it’s time I take my mate home and get some sleep.” We smiled back and I spoke up “I’m glad the party was a success and you had a great time Ryder. I’m glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Please get some rest, it’s going to be busy the next few days before your guys mating ceremony.” He smiled and thanked me again before taking Lydia home.

After Theon and I thanked and said goodbye to the rest of the guest we started to make our way home. I yawned as we walked through the door and started making our way to our room. “Today was so much fun, I wish the peace could last like this forever.” He softly pulled me close to him. “I know my love, but sadly this world does hold evil within it, but all we can do is just live in the moment we have and make the best of it.” He lifted me up as we walked into our room. “Why don’t you take a shower, I need to run to my office to get something then I’ll shower and cuddle you for the rest of the night” I smiled at his offer and nodded. “Sounds like a plan my love.”

He set me on my feet and I made my way to the bathroom to take my shower as he made his way to his office. I turned the water on to get it to the temperature I wanted.

Once the shower was ready I climbed in and let the water wash over my body. In that moment everything felt eerily quiet. Even Verena was on edge. She emitted a low threatening growl from within me and I turned to see a dark figure standing just on the other side of the shower glass. My breath caught in my throat. In the next instance the light flashed off then back on. The figure was no longer there. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Something didn’t feel right. I tired to mind link Theon but nothing was returned. Panic set in deeper. I reached out to Knox “what’s up luna?” Without even a second thought. “Knox. Go to Theon’s office now!” With that I closed the link and threw some clothes on as I started running.

It felt like I couldn’t run fast enough. That’s when I saw it. The door to his office smashed in. Verena howled out in pain and fear as I slowed towards the entrance. Laying on the ground was my mate. Anger filled my body as red was all I saw. Verena pushed me to the back and took over. Everything was silent. The last thing I heard was Theon’s heartbeat and Knox screaming for Verena to come back.

Verena

Not my mate. Not my mate. Mate is alive but hurt severely.

This scent. It filled my nose and I knew it in an instant. I took off the way it came. He did this.

I tracked the scent to the edge of the woods as standing just on the other side was the low life ex alpha of the blue mist pack. I growled in anger as his voice filled my ears. “Jade? No, Jade can be hostile, but you are much worse. Verena. Mhmm, how delightful.” His wicked smile stretched across his face. “I can see you’re fighting your urge to come at me. Why fight it?” He c****d his head to the side as my growl deepened. I knew I couldn’t leave, Theon and Jasper were injured. We had to stay but oh how I wanted to just rip is throat out with my teeth.

He tsked in anger. “You’re no fun. Oh well I guess this will have to wait for another time it seems we have an unwanted guest arriving.” With that he vanished and a large lumbering bear came up beside me. I knew it was the new shifter in our pack Ryder. Though it wasn’t hard since he was the only bear. He huffed at me and I turned back in my human form. I personally didn’t care though I knew Jade would have a fit if she found out.

I looked at Ryder and spoke up “Jade isn’t the one present at the moment. Mark injured mine and her’s mate.” He nodded and waited for me to follow him back to the house. I had to head to the medical wing. I left before fully looking over my mate. Mark will pay for this, he has my word on that one.

Once we made it back the heart of the pack Knox was waiting for me with a change of clothes as I slipped into them. “Verena right?” I looked at him and nodded. He sighed and accepted the answer following me to the medical wing. Guards stood at the ready at all entrances even inside the medical office. The poor pack doctor was overwhelmed by everyone in his space as he was a quiet man who worked with a very few handful of people. He looked up at me “Luna, I’m so happy you are here. Alpha Theon will be okay, he has a few fractures here and there but other then that nothing too serious. It seemed they just wanted to knock him out and stir you. I nodded and told myself I’ll have to fill Jade in on this when I get the moment. For now, I found myself curled up in the chair next to Theon’s bed side. Mark will get what’s coming to him I’ll make sure of that.
