"Boss, are you sure it's okay for us to take her?" Cloud asked William, who now sat in his wheelchair, brought in by Shen.
"Why not?" William replied, giving hand signals toward the exit of the operating room.
"Well... this is a public place, after all. Kidnapping a doctor is a crime, and the cops might come after us," Cloud argued.
William's lips twisted into a smirk, and one of his eyebrows rose.
"Since when do you care about the cops? And since when have we feared them?" he said, idly playing with his ring.
"Right! Why should we fear them? They should fear us," Cloud replied, smiling widely.
William just chuckled, then turned his gaze to Shen, who was now carrying the woman on his back.
"Where did you bring the traitor?" he asked seriously as they walked in the back of the clinic, careful not to attract attention since they were moving the owner of the clinic.
"In our hideout prison," Shen replied curtly, opening the van and placing the woman inside.
"Did you keep them alive?" he asked once more, as Shen and Cloud helped him get inside the van, sitting beside the unconscious doctor.
"Yes, boss," Shen replied.
William brought his fingers to his lips. "Good. I will deal with them later. Let's go," he said, signaling Shen to close the door.
Shen immediately obeyed, and as the van started moving, William couldn't help but glance at the woman, who was now unconscious.
"What a fearless beauty you are," he whispered, reaching for the woman's hair and bringing it to his nose.
He groaned. "You also smell nice," he whispered, releasing her hair.
"Now that you've entered my world, there's no turning back," he whispered, pulling the woman so her head rested on his shoulder, preventing it from hitting the hard metal of the van's door.
Later, Mary Sunshine woke up in an unfamiliar room. Her eyes roamed the corners, taking in the clean, spotless, and spacious space, yet there wasn't a single window.
She slowly rose from the bed, pressing her hand to her throbbing head.
"You just made my plan for revenge easier, William Thomas II," she whispered, a small smirk curling her lips as the memory of her success settled in.
Then her mind drifted back to that night, the fire, the chaos, the look of shock and fear on her father's face.
"Bring Sunshine out of here, Alyanna," her father commanded her mother, who was trembling with fear as the sound of gunshots filled their home.
"What's happening, Arthur?" her mother asked, crying.
"There's no time for explanations, Alyanna! Just leave with Sunshine," her father replied as he pulled out his gun.
"Dad, where are you going?" she asked through her tears, unable to hide her fear.
Her father immediately knelt down and wiped her cheeks.
"Shhh, don't cry. Everything will be okay," he said softly, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"Now go with your mother," he ordered, pushing her gently toward her mother.
"But, Dad-"
"Go!" her father shouted, shutting the door to the secret room.
"Mom..." she whispered, reaching up to touch her mother's tear-streaked cheeks.
"I can't leave your father, princess. But could you do me a favor?" her mother whispered, holding her hands tightly.
More tears fell from her eyes. She was only seven years old, and the chaos unfolding around her was far beyond anything she could understand.
"Promise me you will get out of this place alive. And don't look back," her mother said, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"But, Mom-"
"Promise me, Sunshine," her mother said firmly. She had no choice but to obey.
She shut her eyes tightly. "I-I promise, Mom," she whispered.
"Good girl," her mother said, releasing her. Then she opened the secret door in her father's study and climbed up.
Sunshine stood there, near the slightly opened door, watching her mother walk toward the study room's entrance. Suddenly, someone burst in, and her mother collapsed to the ground.
"So, you hid your wife here, Art," a man's voice said. He held her father by the neck and lifted him off the floor.
"Don't touch her, Romano! She has nothing to do with our conflict!" her father hissed, struggling to break free. But the man was far stronger.
"Really? You know the rules, Art. Betray the organization, and your entire family pays the price. I warned you many times, but you didn't listen," the man said coldly, pointing the gun at her father's head.
Sunshine gasped and immediately covered her mouth. Her mother's gaze shifted toward her hiding place. She must have noticed her presence. She shook her head slightly, signaling her not to make a sound.
"I did nothing wrong, Romano! It was you who didn't believe me!" her father shouted.
"Really? The evidence is solid, Art. You betrayed our organization and sold us to the police. If Hades hadn't made a quick decision and canceled our transaction with the Russian Mafia, we'd probably all be dead by now. You brought this upon yourself and your family, Art," Romano said coldly before pulling the trigger, shooting her father in the head.
"NO!!!" her mother screamed in horror as she crawled toward her father's lifeless body on the floor.
Tears streamed down her face as she covered her mouth tightly with her hand, now bleeding from biting it, to suppress her screams.
"You're such an asshole, Romano! How could you do this to your own friend?" her mother shouted, clutching her father's lifeless body.
"You don't know anything, Alyanna. You have no right to judge me," the man replied.
Her mother suddenly lunged, using a hairpin to stab him, but she was swiftly killed by his men.
"Burn this place down. Leave nothing behind," Romano ordered, kicking her mother's lifeless body toward her father.
Mary Sunshine's body trembled with shock and grief. Her vision blurred with tears. She was about to open the door when the men left, but her mother's eyes seemed to lock on hers. Her lips moved silently, as if sending a warning: don't show yourself, leave this place.
"Mom... Dad..." she whispered, sobbing, her vision a blur of tears.
She blinked and wiped her face. Just then, one of the black-clad men returned, pouring gasoline over her parents' bodies and setting them ablaze.
She wanted to scream, to curse them, but she held back. Crawling toward the exit, she forced herself to stay alive. She had to survive... and seek justice for her parents' deaths.
She ended up in an orphanage, and even her name was slightly changed. As she grew older, she kept collecting every piece of information about the man who murdered her parents and their entire clan.
Eventually, she learned the truth, he had become a well‑known billionaire, a powerful Mafia boss. And his troublesome son was now set to inherit the fortune and the organization he built on blood.
To get close to their world, she build a clinic, where she treat people like them, and now, her sacrifice has been paid off.
Mary Sunshine blinked when she heard the doorknob turn.
"Our boss wants to talk to you," the man named Cloud said as he approached. He took her arm and pulled her out of the room.
A small smile curved her lips.
"Mom... Dad... I can finally execute my plan," she whispered inwardly. "I'll use this opportunity to get close to them... and slowly ruin their lives."
