Chapter 4

Mary Sunshine thought she would be brought to a study room or dining room. However, to her surprise, the guard named Cloud escorted her underground. "What are we doing here? I thought your boss wanted to talk to me?" she couldn't help but ask. "Yes, and he's inside," Cloud replied as they stopped in front of a door. She had no idea what kind of room it was. She gasped when Cloud opened the door and she saw what was happening inside. "Still not going to confess, are you?" William said, grabbing the heated metal rod from the side and pressing it against the man's chest. "AHH!" the man screamed in pain. William pulled the metal away. "So? Are you going to tell the truth, or not?" "Y-You'll get nothing from me! Just kill me already!" the man replied bravely. "Tsk. We'll see how long you can keep that act," William said, then signaled to his other guard who was standing beside him. William remained seated in his wheelchair. "Bring me a knife," William commanded. His guard immediately obeyed and handed him one. William moved his wheelchair closer to the man, who was now kneeling on the floor, his hands tied tightly to his sides. "What should I cut first, your thumb or your index finger?" William asked, playing with the knife in his hands. She clenched her fists. The information she had gathered was true after all, this man was as heartless as his father. She closed her eyes firmly, then stepped forward, announcing her presence. "It seems you're busy. I should wait outside," she said. The man turned his gaze toward her. "My beautiful doctor is awake at last, I see," he said, moving his wheelchair closer. "Why don't you help me interrogate this traitor? He sold me to my enemy, nearly got me killed," he added, reaching out and pulling her toward him. He tilted her chin, directing her gaze toward his captive. "See that face? This is what he deserves for betraying me," he said, then let go. She sighed, standing her ground. "Your business has nothing to do with me. I'll wait outside. When you're done, we can talk," she said bravely and turned toward the door. William's lips twisted into a smirk. "Interesting," he murmured as he watched her leave the interrogation room. "Should I bring her back, boss?" Cloud asked, earning a glance from William. "No need. Just follow her and keep a close eye on her," he replied, playing with a knife. "Alright, boss," Cloud said, immediately moving to follow her. "What exactly is your plan regarding that woman?" He looked up as Shen's voice called out. Shen wasn't just his bodyguard, he was his closest friend, the man he trusted most in the world. "Well, I need medical care, and she seems good at her job. Keeping her would benefit me greatly," he explained, throwing his knife into the traitor's left hand, eliciting a scream of pain. "Is that all? You know you have an upcoming engagement with Mr. Hades' daughter. You couldn't possibly have a romantic relationship with anyone else," Shen said seriously. Right. That arranged marriage. He had almost forgotten. He didn't like that woman, but what could he do? His father and his friend had arranged it, and there was nothing he could do about it. "f**k!" he cursed, finally losing his patience. "If you're not going to tell me who the hell ordered you to spy on me, I'll cut off all your fingers and make you swallow them. You saw what happened to your men, right? Keep testing my patience and you'll end up worse," he said coldly, pressing the knife against the top of the man's hand. "I-I'll tell you!" the traitor blurted out immediately. A slow smile curved on his lips. "Good. Then start talking. And make sure every word is the truth... or I'll cut out your tongue. Understand?" "Y-Yes, boss," the man replied, trembling. "I-It was Calib. He didn't want to lose the car racing competition, so he forced me to sell you out to the enemy and give them your location," the traitor confessed. He frowned. "Calib? Are you sure?" he asked. He still couldn't believe it, Calib was one of his closest friends, even if they didn't always get along. "I'm sure, boss! You can check my phone if you want. Look at his messages, call the number, then you'll know I'm telling the truth," the man insisted. His jaw tightened, and he signaled Shen to retrieve the man's phone, the one they had taken earlier from his pocket. "Positive, boss. There are text messages here. But it's not confirmed yet if this is Calib's number. Why don't we try calling it, like he suggested?" Shen reported, holding the phone. "Do it," he said, clenching his fist. There was nothing he despised more than traitors. "Hello? Did you get the job done?" He froze for a second when he heard the familiar voice of Calib on the other line. Rage flashed through his eyes. He snatched the phone and hurled it at the traitor's head, knocking him unconscious. "f**k him! How dare he do this to me!" he snapped, seething with anger. "Boss, your wound reopened. Please calm down," Shen urged, quickly guiding him to sit. He groaned, pressing his hand over the wound as fresh blood seeped through. He frowned, brought his fingers to his lips, then glared at Shen. "Bring that woman here. Let her treat me," he ordered. "And bring the medicine kit with you when you come back with the doctor," he added, leaning back against the armrest of his wheelchair. "Copy, boss. I'll be quick," Shen replied before hurrying toward the door. He grabbed a cigarette, flicked his lighter, and took a slow drag. Smoke curled from his lips as his eyes darkened. "When I get better," he muttered, exhaling another stream of smoke, "I'll make sure you taste hell, Calib."
