Chapter 47: Danger on the sea

Seating next to each other Taki, Yumi, and I. Opposite to us was the knight who had a grumpy expression on her face and the princess who gave us an angelic smile.
“Is there anything you wanted? This restaurant offers different types of cuisine. You three can feel free to order.”
“We’ll love to order and eat but we have already eaten many treats moments ago. We already feel very full.”
“That too bad.”
The princess said and then take a cup of tea and a drink.
Seeing her move prim and gracefully make us think that we should imitate her. The three of us got the same idea and get some tea that looks the same way the princess has on her hand.
Looking at us, the princess already knows what we are doing. She just makes a small giggle.
“Little girls wanted to be prim and proper. I can tell that your all innocent. Once again, I’m apologizing for the rash decision of my personal knight in pointing a sword at your friend.”
The princess bows her head.
The knight lady named Rumi was astonished and in panic.
“Princess? Don’t lower your head.”
“Don’t worry we’re in disguise right now. Also, no one really knows that I’m a princess. Berzerd is not that big of a country and I have lots of siblings. I’m always overshadowed by their greatness. The three of you can like I said earlier… I would like to request the three of you. I know I’m being unreasonable and asking children your age, but I need your help.”
While we are all busy imitating to copy the princess handling the cup of tea. I turned my eyes on the princess. I saw her melancholic eyes as she asked for help.
A princess is asking for help and her personal knight mistook us as assassins.
“I already have some brief understanding about the happening. Assassins are after the princess's head.”
I said.
“Correct, I’m in grave danger right now. I can’t tell about the details any further because of the kingdom's privacy of information. But now I’m asking for your help to help me avoid the assassins. If it’s money I will reward the three of you.”
Money? Well, I want huge money for my travel. Maybe this is another great chance to pile up money in my bank.
While I’m having a grin on my face and already blinded by the power of money.
Taki slam her hand on the table and caught all of our attention.
“Before we agree to your request… Can I ask why the princess is asking the three of us in this dangerous mission? This place looks luxurious and bets this ship contains top and elite adventurers that can battle them. Hiring little girls like us was a crazy idea.”
As expected from Taki, she is well observant and smart.
It's something I can’t come at with myself.
Taki has a point this place is full of rich people. This place also contains lots of elite adventurers acting as guards and officials.
Why the princess is asking us?
“It’s because I trusted both of you… I can tell that I can trust the three of you. So will you help me?”
“That's not even a decent answer… besides, I don't want to be involved in such tragedy. I won’t sacrifice my life for somebody that I just met even it's a princess.”
Taki said. She drinks the tea and left the table. The princess was worried.
Yumi and I stood up and followed Taki. I held her hands and talked to her.
“The princess looks very troubled. Maybe we can at least do something to protect her from those assassins. We’re quite strong after all.”
“Laura is very naive… Not every time a good person wins. Bad people win more often than good ones. Yumi what do you think?”
“Well, I would like to stick with my best friend's idea, but I don’t want to be involved I such a dangerous thing. Adventurers strong enough to be called assassins…”
I like to save the princess and help her with her troubles. But Taki has a point in her words.
I clenched my fist and the turn my body around Taki and Yumi.
“Okay! I get it! I won’t look at both of you now! I decided to protect the princess. I will do what I want.”
“So stubborn aren’t you… Yumi let's go and leave that girl behind.”
“Laura… S-Sorry… I would like to be in a safe situation for now… I want to train hard so that I can reach my goal.”
Yumi was troubled but she averted her eyes eventually and then walked away.
I was angry about how they acted. I was so angry and I don’t know why. I feel like my chest is burning hot.
This is my decision and I wanted to stick with it. I will go and save the princess from the danger of the assassins. Those two will apologize to me after I finish the assassins off.
As a turned my body around opposite Taki and Yumi. I go back to the princess and offer my help. The princess seems delighted with the help I offered.
I want to save the princess from the assassins. What’s wrong with wanting to save someone I can’t understand Taki. Why she is being angry all of the sudden.
“I’m very sorry you're a friend and you have a little quarrel because of me. I don’t want things to reach this point.”
“I-Its okay… I know that they will understand eventually.”
“How can you tell? The black-haired girl is giving a cold glare earlier. She totally refuses and hates you right now.”
Rumi said.
Rumi must be right. She must be right that Taki is very angry with my selfishness. But I can’t just leave someone in danger.
This is my decision and I wanted to take responsibility for this. If I cant do things on my own. That means I can’t handle my own self.
I shook my head and smiled in front of Rumi.
“Why are you smiling suddenly? That’s really creepy.”
“I know that they don’t hate me because of some shallow problems like this… Taki and Yumi are my friends.”
I told Rumi. The princess smiled upon hearing my words. She looks pleased and looks at me with a satisfied expression.
After that, the princess started giving me some instructions. The goal is simply to protect the princess until the ship arrives in the port.
With that said all we can do is guard the door in the princess room.
Before we arrive in the princess room. Rumi told me that the princess being in the ship was a secret. No one knows her on the ship. When I bump into her earlier, Rumi accidentally called her princess and creates panic.
The princess because cautious and tell the truth.
“I understand now… That’s why we are recruited to be her bodyguard. Also, why the princess is on the ship in secret?”
I asked.
“I’m afraid but that’s something I can’t tell. The princess has the ability to look inside people's hearts. It’s an ability she’s born within. Looking at her smile. I think she grows to like you… I mean, the three of you.”
The princess really is beautiful and kind. She’s so perfect it’s almost creepy.
“One more question…”
“Just how many questions are you planning to ask anyway.”
“Why the princess only have one servant to protect her? She is a princess, which means she is very rich. Se can afford to hire a huge amount of adventurers to protect her.”
“Sorry, Laura but I can’t tell, For now all we need o do is do our best to protect her. It will take 8 hours before arriving in Castelia city port.”
I nodded and then realized something.
Castelia city? Wait… This is wrong…
Cold sweat started to drip on my cheeks
“Castelia city? But this ship is supposed to go to Everfloria city port…”
“This is a luxury cruise going to Castelia city… A ship this big can’t even fit in Everfloria port.”
This is bad, did we mistook and ride this ship? That makes sense because everyone here is very luxurious unlike us. If that’s the case then. We don’t even have any room to stay on this ship. What will happen to Taki and Yumi?
I turned my glace slowly toward Rumi. She looks confused and sare at me.
I then explain the detail to her leaving with an astonishing face.
“That’s bad… Castelia City is far from Everfloria city. The ship is already in the middle of the ocean. We can’t do anything about it.”
“Well, I’m more worried toward Taki and Yumi.”
The door behind our back suddenly got destroyed because of the blast of water. From the water, a man covered with a black robe appeared.
Rumi drew her sword and then charged toward the black robe man. Rumi and the black robe man exchange slashes of swords.
Rumi and I were watching the door this whole time. How did he enter the room?
Rumi retreated and put distance between her and the assassin.
“Katana?”
“You knew about this sword… This sword is a sword only made in the land of Wa. You look so young and the other girl is basically a child. I didn’t think that the princess is hiring a small girl to do some heavy task like this.”
With my sword, I canted my skill and attack him directly.
“Wind skill: Wind blade!”
“Wind skill: Wind blade!”
We blocked my skill with the same skill. He also a wind attribute.
The princess exit the room with a magic wand in her hand.
“Three versus one… That’s fair to an expert like me. Before we continue. Maybe I should release something interesting to make you all fired up. This hat and star hair clip. YOu know who owned this right.”
I was shocked to see those items on his hands.
That hat was Taki and that star hair clip was Yumi.
Is this happening again? Did they die when we’re in the middle of a fight? Just like how my mother die. Are they going to die with us making up toward each other?
My hands were trembling and my eyes were raging with anger. I can’t control my emotions any longer.
“I will kill you!”
