Chapter 46: Princess Iris

“This ride will take three days before reaching the port in Everfloria city. Then, we’re riding the train to the capital city. Thinking about the long way makes me feel very exhausted already.”

Looking in this ship. This ship is rather larger and looks very fancy. People wearing a pretty dresses and all people seem like they all having fun.

I wanted to be fashionable like them, but money is important. An aspiring traveler like don’ need fancy clothes. If I wear fancy clothes. I will become an easy target for thieves and bandits.

And that’s something I wanted to avoid. These uniform clothes are comfortable and I can easily move with them. I will be using this for now.

It’s getting colder and thanks to the blazers that came from the uniform. We felt a bit warm. Taki, Yumi, and I were currently sitting at the table. On our table are hot chocolate and snacks.

“This life is very comfortable… Hot chocolate and cold starry night is really the best pair.”

“I don’t know why, but all of this is free according to that man in black.”

“That man is called a waiter… More like a butler… Well, who cares… As long as we enjoy this comfort.”

Taki then gets a cookie and dips it on her hot chocolate. Yumi imitated her and dip the cookie on hot chocolate. After having a bite, the two make gleaming expressions and giggle.

I take my hot chocolate with both of my hands and blow the hot steam. I then take a sip to warm up my body.

“So great… This chocolate is very good.”

“Of course! Madam our chocolate is been exported from the southern islands. Only a few people in this world were able to acquire it. The chocolate tree in southern Island only sprouts fruit every 25 years. It’s top on its quality and taste…”

This chocolate was hem made only very 25 years. If that’s the case then it's very expensive. Then why this kind of drink was given here for free. I don’t understand it.

I tilted my head and give up thinking about it.

The waiter that talked to us then re-filled the snack on our table. He puts another basket full of delicious treats. He then leaves.

“He's looking to us quite a while now.”

“Eh? Creepy… Maybe he's a pedophile.”

“Don’t overthink it. Maybe that guy is just being nice to us. We never get to our room yet. We better head to our room after eating these treats.”

“We better visit the bathhouse first and take a bath.”

A bathhouse inside this ship? Just what kind of ship are we boarding? This is too fancy.

“Let’s go eat dinner before taking a bath.”

Yumi said.

“Eh? You’re still not good enough with the treats we just ate. YUmi should be conscious of her body. Fat ladies are not popular on men you know.”

“You’re still a kid but your talking like some kind of a romantic expert. Is Taki one of those kids that wanted to grow up fast?!”

Yumi pointing out Taki.

Taki was stiff still and shocked at Yumi’s accusations. She then composed herself by clearing her throat and look into Yumi’s eyes.

“I just thinking about the future… Growing up fast is not really my thing… I wanted to be a knight in the future first before marrying someone I love. D-Don’t look at me like that. It’s normal for a girl to think of some kind of romance… Right?! Laura?!”

Taki turned her gaze on me.

“Umm… Maybe… I’m not really interested in that kind of stuff like romance.”

For seem, reason romance barely crossed my mind. I’m always fascinated by the world and traveling. I was reading books about adventurers and heroic stories. I thought those things they're doing are very cool.

Dating someone and living in one place is not really crossing my mind. I aspire to be a traveler. Of course, having a romantic relationship is a bad idea. Good thing that I don’t really think about it that much. I can say that I’m well trained for my chosen destiny.

Taki bit the handkerchief and release tears. She looks irritated in my answer but she can’t argue for some reason.

“... As a girl then taking care of my appearance is a good habit. I mean girls need to be cute all the time.”

I said.

Being cute is not always referring to having a relationship with someone after all. Looking at my self I can tell that I’m quite cute. Well, Taki and Yumi are also cute in their own way.

Hearing my words, Taki nodded in agreement.

“That’s right being cue is everything to young girls. What’s the point of living if your not cute right?”

I won’t put things on that level…

“Yeah.”

I just agree because I don’t want to drag too much in those kinds of conversations.

Yumi whose sitting beside me notices something on my bag. She takes a closer look at it.

It was the book I’m having on my travel. It’s the book called adventures of Emily. It's a story about Emily’s adventure in the world. Apparently, this book is the seventh volume of the book. I just realize it when I was living with Koyuki. This book is no published anymore and only a few copies are left. Koyuki is very surprised knowing that I have one of them.

“You always have this book on you. I guess it’s a very important possession.”

“That’s right, this book is the symbol of my friendship with Mayu. Mayu is my friend in Rum own and she is like a big sister. Before the tragedy happened in our town. We promised each other to travel the world together. That’s why I’m planning on going to the capital city to know her location. Glenn said before that she is still alive. I want to know where she was. And I want to fulfill the promise we made to each other.”

Taki and Yuki smiled.

“My best friend is so dreamful… If it’s Laura’s friend then I announce her to be my official friend.”

Yumi said as she stood up.

“You know she won't even know you.”

“ Why Taki always need to go on my way?!”

“I’m not! I’m just telling the truth. Also, don’t stand on the chair…”

We then finished drinking our chocolate drink. We found ourselves already full and passed the idea of having dinner. Standing up and heading to the said bathhouse inside this ship.

This ship is so big I feel like we’re already lost. We look at some navigation and look on the map.

This ship even has a mini forest inside of it. Does it also have a park and department store?

I was in disbelief at the things I’m seeing. But thanks to the map we found a way to head to the bathhouse.

“The bathhouse was in the western side of the ship on Floor 3. It quite a long walk I should say.”

We started walking heading west. I accidentally bump into someone. Because of that I fell on my butt and got hurt.

“Are you okay?”

A princess-like girl offering her hand to me. She has soft fluffy golden hair and sapphire-like eyes. Her body was fair and white as snow.

Just who is this goddess-like girl? She is beyond the meaning of cute.

“Princess Iris! Are you hurt? What is this little runt did?! Are we going to execute?!”

Just who is this overprotective lady? Also is she really serious that she wanted to execute me?

Wearing a knight uniform and a gleaming shining blade. She pointed out on me.

At that moment, Taki and Yumi with their weapon pointed it at her neck. The knight lady was threatened with Taki and Yumi’s blood-lusting eyes.

“Trying to hurt my best friend… Do you want to die here?”

“Pointing a blade on a child? Don’t call yourself a knight anymore.”

The knight lady trembled and fall to her knees.

“Please don’t hurt Rumi. She’s just simply doing her job. My name is Berzerd sword Iris. I’m the princess of Berzerd kingdom. Please don’t do move any further.”

This land we’re currently in was called Rumia. Then she must be a princess from another country. What is a princess doing in this place?

“A-Are you one of them? Are you one of the assassins?”

“Don’talked to them, princess. Their skill and physical movement are abnormal. It’s above your average adventurer. There’s a huge possibility that they are one of them. Don’t talk to the spawn of evil like them.”

“Spawn of evil… I think you're misunderstanding us. We don’t even know anything about the assassin thing. The three of us were just ordinary travelers.”

Iris then put her hand on the knight and look into her eyes. The knight seemed to calm down. The princess shook her head and averted her eyes on us.

“Sorry for the rude thing my knight did. I trust your words. I didn’t sense anything sinister behind your words. If it's allowed. Can we talk later in the restaurant located on floor 1 on the east side?”

The princess said. Her eyes seem like begging for us to come.

Taki and Yumi lowered their weapon on the knight and the go toward me. We assemble a little meeting with just us.

“What are they saying? I don’t understand.”

“Looks like the princess is in trouble.”

“If we save a princess we got lots of money.”

“Laura really likes money.”

After the small meeting, we decided to agree with her. But first, we need to take a bath.
